Seven years ago I scouraged the internet learning about alternative energies and religious elements. Christanity my parents choice never suites me I from an early aged saw its lies and hated it. I was an adeolesent satanist for most of my early teens to rebel.
I then noticed that these ideas I was following were very shallow, lacking substance. By my mid teens I was touched by the tentacle. Discovering The Call of Cthulhu RPG. I was wrapped with the tentacle. Not realizing this would take me on a literary ans philosophical journey in the years to come.
Later I droped satanism and ran the gamit with paganism of all sorts. Then I realized it was not a godess commanding my magick it was somthing bigger, inside my self. I gave my books away and followed Chaos Magick.
While balancing all these I would read LHP constantly, tell my friends to read it. Even convinced my school to buy his work for others to read. I found the cult but never felt like this my home. Though I felt this was my place. See philosophies of other religions are weak and shallow. Cthulhu and Venger Satanis are somthing more. This is the way. This is the path I havd chosen for me. Not anyone else. To rid my life of masks. For myself.

Not sure about a calling. But I was seeing what I could find on Cthulhu, went to youtube to see if they had any videos. Watched a few about The Cult of Cthulhu, and went and joined this site. I've been in a few other cults, but they were the brainwashing type. Fun to see how long one can go without cracking. 23 days, after that I got kicked out but, I digress.
Even if it was a calling for me I could not yet join, sadly this is something I would love to join. But other duties must come before all else. Someday when my work is done, until then I will lurk and enjoy this great community.

Does the Call need to be profound? I don't think so. I think the call could be as simple as a mild interest in what transpires here, a simple curiosity about the Cult of Cthulhu and a desire to know maybe just a little more.
Does the Call need to be overt? Certainly not. Some may have dreams of Cthulhu that lead them to seek out this organization, others may just stumble upon it one day while lazily exploring the internet looking for something to alleviate their boredom.
Does the Call lead to a permanent place here? Why would it? No doubt there are those of us who are in this for the long-haul, seeking to bolster this institution with our talents and ideas. For others, this may be a simple step toward something else, or a rest-area along another path.
My question would not be how to know when you've been called... you are here, and by whatever means you were called. My question would be, now that you are here, what are you going to do?

A dream. At the time I was heavily into the Ordo Templi Orientis, and the dream took place at one of the houses we were using. I'm outside, and seven blue spheres appear in the sky. Those with me are growing more terrified, but I know what is coming. Yog-Sothoth, the Key and the Gate. The spheres grow closer, a pattern of + and - symbols flashing over their surfaces, a message of what I know not (and after 10 years I still don't know). I feel great peace as one begins to open, and the image is so horrifyingly sublime I could not describe it in words, it's like a whole information package downloaded straight into my brain.
After that, I decided I was a bit off in terms of where I was. There is a magickal technique where you visualize a world and find a gate, any orifice like structure large enough to pass through will suffice, and you cross over into a slightly different now.
I wanted a darker world, and I think I've found it.

I've had an inexplicable fixation with the Mythos since I first learned of it's existence. When I heard of the existence of this Cult, I knew that I had to see what it was all about. Pleasing to see that this group was actually something that took itself serious and not just a hilarious joke, I knew that I would one day be a part of it in some way. Even when I had the unfortunate incident at the beginning of March that threw me wildly off track, there was something about this Cult that I couldn't shake from my mind. It called to me then, even when I would try and deny it. I bear some shame for my actions, but my convictions have been reinforced and I know for sure that my place is within this organization. I've begun to let go of the fear I once had, instead of running from it. I am but a novice but through the Work and the A:O I shall progress!

Nope, that's not it.
Dread Cthulhu's call is a kind of revelation which compels an individual to act rather than react. It's a Conscious force with a higher frequency or vibration, causing a substantial impact upon our essence, emanating from outside our universe... probably Universe B. This can affect creativity, but should, more importantly, drive one to break down the barriers of illusion that constantly surround us.

In my introduction post I had said that I plan on immersing myself into this paradigm and that is what I've been doing. Over the last few nights I've been having the same dream that is getting more clear and vivid with every dreaming.
I'm seeing a black void that tentacles are reaching out from. They are reaching for me and I'm to reach to them so that we can make contact. Every night I'm getting closer to to them, but the dream then ends in disappointment.
I take that two ways, either I'm having contact with the Old ones or that my subconscious mind is striving for more and more immersion into the Cult. Either way I feel that I have been called, and that is why last night I petitioned Lord Satanis for membership.
I am now Adorahk Orrat - Herald of the Old Gods.

I like Kai had a fixation upon the mythos since I learned about it back in the 5th grade flipping through the public library tomes for hours on end striving for the terrifying imagery that lept off the page even at that young age. Then recently while shifting my focus of the occult from constant ritual work and research to improving my inner self and how I acted to the world around me.I yearned to observe situations from afar even if I was in them at that current moment strived to have the power to make decisions on how to react to situations in the way that moved me forward the most rather then hold me back with blind emotion and anger. The urge to not identify with things also stood out quite strongly in my mind. Also the need to break apart the illusion surrounding me to rouse from my slumber as an automaton working on instinct and take control so I can steer this vessel in a direction to better serve myself to gain power and infinteness and to better serve the A:O.Searching for and finding the COC helped me realize this is what had been calling me all along a system to help you grow was available it simply matters if you choose to take it.That's what my calling sums up to.

Alright, well to start out with in about the third grade I came to a mass realization that absolutly nothing really matter in what we do in our lives. On a cosmic scale, the scale that I believe is the only important one, no matter what we do, no matter how horrible, nothing will change on this scale. You can do whatever you want and disregaurd all social rules and nothing will acutally change.
A year later, I was in my mothers car and I suddenly felt a dreaded felling over take me. I just started crying and when my mother asked me why I was doing so, I told her that "I dont know when, but alot of people are going to get hurt". Two weeks later, the 9/11 incident happened.
Throughout my whole school attendence, I have watched the other children go through various trends and fashion changes. I have never felt the need to partake in these trends because I knew that they did not depict the real person that was involved in them. They simply followed their Teen Magazines and do what others have told them. I am not one for such things.
These are just a few, because there are a numerous amout of them. If these are not signs of and augmented predisposition for Awakining, that is fine. But, another thing happened a few days ago. My little cousin asked me for a bowl of tortilla chips so as I finished pouring them into the bowl, I reached in for one purly out of habit and I thought to myself "These are not for me, I did not ask for these and I do not need one". I resisted my micanical habit and did not take a chip from the bowl. Are these the small baby steps that are needed to be taken in order to complete the Work?

I resisted my micanical habit and did not take a chip from the bowl. Are these the small baby steps that are needed to be taken in order to complete the Work? If approached correctly, the experiences you describe could make for a solid foundation for undertaking the Work. I think what you may be missing is a more Work-oriented perspective.
The Cosmic Scale and Social Rules
What is the "Cosmic Scale"? I understand by what you have written that it means the aspects of the developing universe that if one could place themselves outside of it as an observer would be readily apparent when observing the whole. The Universe, by definition, incorporates everything, so such a point of observation cannot be achieved. No matter how massive the scale being observed, the observer will always be unable to observe the whole, thus whatever scale you deem is important will be a mote aspect of another scale deemed important by another observer seeing things from a grander perspective. In the Work, our focus is on what is relative to us as individuals. The largest scale we can observe and impact is that which incorporates the human species as a whole. This is what I aim for as my target of influence through my individual efforts.
That said, what most people do does not matter, and this is unfortunate. Or, rather, what they do does matter to the species as a whole, but the fact that they are not aware of their impact and consciously working to influence the species in the manner that is most in line with their own aims is unfortunate. They do exactly what you described them doing, following the trends and influences determined by others, who are often themselves following not their own consciousness but rather the trends and influences of a self-perpetuating mechanical system. This system is based on supporting and encouraging material desires and subordinating individualism, intellectual, and spiritual pursuits.
I do see your point that on a grand scale, your flagrant disregard of the social rules and laws will have little meaning; you're one of nearly 7 billion little thorns cutting into one another and will not be missed when your action result in that system "removing" you. However, from a relative personal perspective, the impact of suddenly finding yourself subject to the extreme end of those laws and rules, in particular those regarding flagrant violators, will indeed be great. The universe may not take note, but you most certainly will notice... and it is your own perspective and not that of the universe that that Work focuses on. Indeed, your own perspective is the only "universe" you can ever hope to know.
Arbitrarily disregarding the rules and laws of that system is as unconscious a path as blindly following them. The hard path, the Work, involves actively evaluating those rules and laws relative to your own self-awareness and aims and deciding which laws or rules are to your personal benefit to follow and which of them inhibit your aims. Of those that are not to your benefit, you must then determine the most beneficial route toward either going around those obstacles or using your influence to bring about a change of those laws or rules.
You may not follow the trends, but you are no doubt not "trendless". If you interact with the larger society in any capacity, for example, you more than likely participate in the trend of wearing clothes, or the trend of speaking in a language commonly used in your location.
Portents of the Future
The 9/11 attack was, based on the number of people who claim to have experienced the same kind of event as you described, a major psychic event. It most definitely was a turning point in our society, underlining just how small the world has become with the advent of greater interconnectivity through technology. Flashes of insight are indications that our minds have a greater potential that is largely underdeveloped, but is not a sign of Awakening. The most base dullard can potentially have a flash of insight or epiphany, and nothing comes of it. That is the crux of any of my discussions about psychic abilities; how did you profit from it? You had a "feeling" which could be described as proof of latent psychic ability or as a simple coincidence (and I am not trying to write-off your experience). The problem, from the perspective of the Work, is that you have no conscious control of it or real way to benefit from the knowledge gained.
The Work proposes as an aim the development of the self to perform at a level where such insights or epiphanies are common-place and the wisdom to make use of the information is also present. Having such an undeveloped talent is akin to being able to breath under water while living your life in a desert... it is a neat trick, but what is the point? Does it put food on the table, or increase your being? The Work also aims to have such experiences occur consciously, not on their own or by happenstance. The ideal is that any talent, from the ability to create art to a "psychic" ability, can be called upon and utilized consciously, not only when circumstance permits.
The Sense of Self
Your chip-bowl illustration suggests a glimmer of self-awareness, but who hasn't at least once stopped a habitual practice as they were about to engage in it? You might begin to order a soda and instead elect for tea, or reach for a twinkie but suddenly opt for a carrot. The problem, again, is that this is not a conscious effort; it just happened (or their may have been an instance of consciousness, but it is inconsistent). People live their lives going from one thing that "just happened" to another. The Work aims for a sense of self where instead of you just opting not to take a chip, you would have a plan in place, aligned with a particular aim (loose weight, be healthier, save money on chips), where taking a chip is opposed to your aim and you consciously choose to not have one.
This requires the development of a sense of self. You observe yourself to see what you mechanical behaviors are. You remember yourself, developing particular aims you wish to pursue for your own benefit. You evaluate your mechanical behaviors and choose to pursue some of them consciously (because they are to your benefit) or to avoid some of them consciously. You continue to observe-remember-evaluate, working toward increasing your own potential and the rewards of your efforts. This is the development of a sense of self, what we refer to as "awareness" or "Awakening".
The key is to be participant in the event and to act consciously.
Completing the Work
The Work cannot be completed. Development is always on-going. Evolution, of the self, of your society, of the species, does not have a terminus. There is no point in the work, no phase of effort, which is also not on-going. Even those with years of experience and have developed an objective sense of self and their surroundings are still going through the same basic process of observe-remember-evaluate. The difference is that the habits of assumptive thinking and behaving have been done away with, replaced by conscious thinking and effort.
Good luck on your continued efforts.

As I believe you understood, when I said the "cosmic scale", I meant all the planets and galaxies est. Well, I don't just disregard social laws and regulations. I do follow the law on most occasions, I just don't like the idea that all, or most of the activities that we do, or are allowed to do, are controlled by a system that has been put in place by the majority of people. I think that people should be able to act on there own accord and not be chastised for it.
Well yes of course I do wear clothing and I do speak English, but I was getting at the fact that because a magazine says this or that is cool, everyone goes out and gets it. That sort of thing disgusts me. Its as if they are a herd of mindless sheep. I do not believe that I am better, or have augmented above them in any way, its just that I frown upon them for doing something for the soul reason that someone else says so. Just for the record, I do think that you are understanding what I am saying, but I'm just clarifying.
As far as the 9/11 incident goes, I understand that you are not writing me off, and I do appreciate that. I know that it was not "on demand" that I had such a feeling, and as much as I would like to, I do not take that feeling as concrete proof that I do have some sort of underlying ability. But if I do, how would I go about further exploring the possibility? I know of consistently analyzing myself and being aware, but how do I do that exactly? If I go outside for a smoke break, does analyzing myself encompass paying close attention to the feeling, taste, and smell of the cigarette filter. The taste of the tobacco as it passes through my esophagus. The way my back sits against the wood grain of the bench and the way gravity slightly pushes down upon my stomach girth. How the crushing blades of grass give way under my feet. Is it soda like that, or am I way off. I would very much like a deeper understanding of the steps needed to begin awakening. If it be not much trouble, when or if you do choose to explain it to me, could you use an every day scenario so that it may be easier for me to apply it my life. I apologize for asking for such a scenario, sense it shows just how asleep I am, but I think if I am to understand such a grand concept, that it would be better suited if it were on my level.
I do understand what you are saying when you tell about ordering a tea instead of a cola, or eating a carrot in place of a Twinkie, and I do not disagree or have any qualms with what you are saying, but I think that in your situations, it had to do more with choosing which form of nourishment you were to have. No matter what you choose, you are still to gain in some way, but in mine it was a choice of "to have or not have", and that to me would hold more water. In fact, I don't see what I did as a mechanical choice because I have been trying to loose a considerable amount of wait and I know that chips are not in ones diet for this goal in mind. If I'm wrong and they amount to the same thing, I have no problem being told I am wrong. I always want to know everything I can and I always want the correct information.
Regarding The Work, something came to me a few days back. If no one can actually complete The Work and the Old Ones are to come back, wouldn't they simply destroy everyone? If concluding The Work means to become like one of them, and that is what they want, and it actually can not be done, then is it the effort involved that counts, or is it doing the impossible that is what really must be done?
I thank you very much for your time and hope to hear from you again shortly.

I would suggest that this system we are discussing was not put in place by the majority of people. Rather, it was established by a minority of people; the leaders who originally forged our Western civilization and the processes it uses, and only continues to exist due to the apathy of the majority. Even the modern "leaders" of our society are subject to that system. The position of the President of the United States, for example, is often subject to more laws and restrictions than your local fry-cook at McBurger. This system exists without consciousness, and encourages unconsciousness in those who participate in it. Elements of that system will always touch a part of your life, but by being more conscious, you can mitigate and negotiate the degree and manner of that system's influence.
As to people acting on their own accord without repercussions or "being chastised", I am certain that you have a personal line. Now, I don't know you, but I have been told I am a pretty big dude. I am 6'3", with a large build, and formerly a soldier in the US Army. Let's say I just punched you in the face. Or, let us say a guy much larger, stronger, and meaner than you punches you in the face. He is just acting on their own accord, but no doubt you would like to "chastise" him. If you lack the physical prowess to retaliate, or at least stop him from beating you to a pulp, I imagine you would enjoy the benefit of social values which discourage this kind of behavior, and laws which act against those who go about punching people in the face willy-nilly. This is an example of what I mean by consciously choosing the laws and values to support. While being beaten by a random stranger just because he is larger and tougher than you, you would very consciously support laws and values which oppose violent behavior.Well yes of course I do wear clothing and I do speak English, but I was getting at the fact that because a magazine says this or that is cool, everyone goes out and gets it. And my point was that mindlessly rejecting trends is just as much an unconscious behavior as mindlessly accepting them. I may be making this point more for others who are reading this exchange than for you. Most trends, I agree, are frivolous, and require little evaluation. The key, though, is conscious choice. You are consciously choosing the avoid frivolously following the social trends, but not opposing trends mechanically (just because it is trendy and you do it out of habit). It may be a fine line, but it exists. It is akin to the same issues with those who's beliefs are based on opposing another system of belief instead of a personal belief system itself. If you choose not to invest your time in energy in a particular trend, it should be because doing so is in line with your personal aims, not out of a need to simply reject social trends. As anyone who read the last issue of The Green Trapezoid knows, I personally rely on deductive reasoning as opposed to psychic ability to discern the future. My book, The Black Tarot is based on the premise that the Tarot uses symbols to elicit intuitive responses that can be applied through deductive reason to lead to insights and enlightenment. I see all senses as being rooted in our tactile sense; every other sense requires the physical stimulation of a nerve-ending/receptor combination. I theorize that psychic abilities work along those same lines. The wiring in a home that is meant to carry electricity can also be used to receive radio-signals. Perhaps our nervous system can act in the same manner, picking up random signals without the use of our five defined senses. That feeling we get when we are being watched is a common example of what I am talking about, although it is just as likely that we see another pair of eyes watching us in our peripheral vision.
I think the more common practices for trying to develop a "psychic" awareness are best; keeping journals about your impressions, no matter how trivial, meditation (with the purpose of quieting the mind and opening yourself up as a receptor), and recording your dreams. You also want to record when an event occurs that is in-line or related to your visions/impressions/dreams.
At first, you are just gathering data, say for about a year. Once you have a significant volume of data, you begin looking for correlations between your successes. Did they all happen at certain times of day, while you where in a particular mood, when you where holding a certain item, etc? You then begin testing those correlations to see if your success in those situations can be induced.
This process, like so many others, is ongoing. It requires that you remain objective. The danger is in reading too much into your impressions, or creating correlations where none exist. Another thing to consider is to what end do you wish to develop this talent? How do you believe you will benefit from it? How is seeing the future better than actively participating in making the future happen? I know of consistently analyzing myself and being aware, but how do I do that exactly? If I go outside for a smoke break, does analyzing myself encompass paying close attention to the feeling, taste, and smell of the cigarette filter. The taste of the tobacco as it passes through my esophagus. The way my back sits against the wood grain of the bench and the way gravity slightly pushes down upon my stomach girth. How the crushing blades of grass give way under my feet. Is it soda like that, or am I way off. Yes, it can be exactly like that. It can also be simply knowing that you are here, right now, participant in what will happen next. Every day scenarios are when it is best to try to be self-aware. The Work requires that we apply its concepts in real-world conditions, being objective about ourselves, our environment, and our situations. This is ultimately the goal of the Work, that we each develop an conscious, objective awareness... or Awaken. Anything else is a theoretical side-benefit to achieving that state; there are no guarantees. I continue to be more interested in and an advocate of the pursuit in the practical aspects of the Work.
What you are striving for is remembering yourself and observing yourself as often and as long as possible. By "remembering yourself", we mean that you retain the idea of 'you' as an individual distinct from your environment and situation consciously. You are present and actively participating in your life in a conscious manner. By "observing yourself", we mean that you are striving to develop an objective understanding of yourself; what do you do and why do you do it.
You described above the awareness of minute details, feeling the crush of blades of grass and the like. The examples you gave focus on your physical being; the sensations you are experiencing. Take that focus and apply it to your actual self, not just the effects of those things that influence it. The Work generally divides this process initially into four distinct arenas; your thoughts, your emotions, your physical/kinetic self, and your physical/instinctual processes. I tend to agree with Maurice Nicoll in lumping the two types of physical distinctions as one whole, but that is just me.
Through the Work, you are trying to think your own thoughts, feel your own feelings, and do your own thing... put simply. Initially, you begin purely with remembering yourself and observing. What are you thinking? Not why are you thinking it, just what. What are you feeling? What is your body doing kinetically (how is it positioned, what is moving)? What is your body doing instinctual (how is your breathing, what is going on with your digestion)? Try to be aware of these things while performing your normal tasks, in everyday scenarios. Try to maintain your awareness of these things for as long as possible, without being distracted by the tasks at hand but also without sacrificing the performance of those tasks.
You must do just this, just observe, for some time. I don't mean to be ambiguous, it is just that for some it will take months, and others it will take years. I think that the point of observation initially is just to convince yourself of how little of your thoughts, your feelings, and your actions are your own. When you become firmly convinced based on your own observation (not just because anyone tells you it is so) of this, that is when you have the appropriate tools to begin making an effort to change those mechanical processes.
For you, the process would seem to begin with you taking your keen observational tool that you have applied to the world around you and begin applying it internally along the 4 (or 3) arenas I described.
You asked for an everyday scenario. Let's use smoking. I used to smoke. If you smoke at a particular time each day; during your smoke-break, you will feel the need to smoke as the time approaches. How are you feeling this? For me, honestly, it was an intellectual urge. I wanted to take a break and bullshit with my co-workers. Smoking was an excuse to break the tedium of my job. This is probably why quitting for me was a simple matter of choosing to stop. For others, there may be an emotional urge to smoke; instead of wanting to break their boredom, they want to be amongst their friends who smoke and fit in. Some have a physical urge; they are addicted to cigarettes and experience a physical need. It may also be a combination of things, but generally one source for the urge will be more prevalent than others. This may also change from time-to-time; you might smoke because you are bored at work and smoke because you are experiencing a physical need when you wake in the morning.
At first, you just observe these urges as objectively as possible. You smoke at certain times, in certain situations, around certain people, and experience the need to smoke in a certain manner. Later, you will decide whether or not smoking is in line with your aims, and I am not urging you to quit smoking! The image of you smoking may benefit your aims in some manner, but this means you are consciously choosing to smoke pursuant to that aim. If smoking is a behavior you decide is not in-line with your aims, then you will consciously choose to make effort to change the behavior. Choosing to go without is just another alternative on the list of options available to you in-line with your aims. Your choice was a conscious choice. My point is that it needs to be consistent in order to be evidence of Awakening. In this case, you made your choice in pursuit to your stated aim: to lose weight. With trends, you also have a stated aim: they typically do not reflect the real person. The problem with this aim is that it isn't personified and it is suggestive of something deeper. Instead it is a judgment of others, and is un-objective. There are some people for whom following a particular trends or trends is perfectly indicative of who they are. Fashion designers, for example, live to communicate through clothing. Instead, your aim is probably that you seek to be more real and distinct, which is why you avoid trends. The questions that then arise are why do you wish to be more real and distinct (how does it benefit you) what does being more "real" and "distinct" mean to you? Answering those questions will lead to a more concrete aim.Regarding The Work, something came to me a few days back. What are the Old Ones? If we refer to the Cthulhu Mythos, we see that the Old Ones did not destroy everyone in the tales told about them and their history. Indeed, many have been awarded for their service to the Old Ones, according to the Mythos.
The Work is a separate issue. The Old Ones may be seen as a symbol of what is possible through the Work, becoming beings that define reality as opposed to being defined by it. The Old Ones may represent an ideal level of evolution of our species, as beings that endure longer in time and are able to travel space at will.
You assume that the Old Ones themselves are not also evolving. You also assume that, if such beings were to come to the Earth, that they would be seeking their equals in stature, and not just beings with similar qualities and potential.
Imagine a life where there were no more goals to accomplish, no more growth to be had, no more potential for development. Such a life would be a waste, in my opinion; being without the potential for change. Perfection is a road, not a destination.

I understand what you are saying in relation to the guy attacking someone, but to be honest, it has happened to me and with my seemingly whacked out since of humor, I just laughed while I was laying on the ground with a bloody nose. I wasn't upset, just humored.
Yes, it is a conscience choice when I choose not to involve myself within a trend. It isn't just a default choice when I decide that I am not for something that is popular. Its just that what is going on now, with the Justin Bieber and the guys waring make up with skin tite jeans and the girlie hair is not for me, but if flannel shirts and riped paints and converse shoes ever came back into style, I would go along with it because that is the best representation of who I feel I really am. I enjoyed the whole "grunge scene" and I still do.
Oh good! I am very glad that you informed me on how to better explore the possibility of an underlying ability. I will most certainly use what you have told me. I actually have been meditating every day for a long time now(years), and I used to record my dreams in a journal but if it helps then I will re-continue to do so.
Alright, so what you are saying is that when I go to smoke, I should not only pay attention to the physical feelings, but also the emotional? And then after that I should look deeper and try to understand why I am feeling the way I am?
Yeah, that is a very interesting in-site that I never considered. That following the multiple trends was actually a mirror image of the person, not only an image of what the trend tells them. But then, if someone is so easily manipulated like silly puddy being put to a mold, then where is the real concrete person? You know, the question that you asked me on why I want to be more "real" and "distenct"...I really cant answer that. Ill have to get back with you on that one. And I'm sure these are the sort of questions that are required that I ask myself to gain any progress in The Work?...
I see the Old Ones the way that they are depicted in The Cthulhu Bible and in Liber A:O. I view them as these Devil Gods that will one day wreak havoc on the Earth. That they desire us to partake in The Work. And as we perform The Work, we become more Awake, break free from our prison of Generally Excepted Reality, stop The Universe from feeding off of our energy, give energy to the Black Abyss from where the A:O come from, and that in turn will eventually bring the A:O back. That is what I gathered from The Cthulhu Bible and Liber A:O. But I have also read on this site that some view, as you were saying, that the A:O are a symbol for what can be ascertained from The Work and that both views are correct.

What probably happened is that you started to actually wake up and then several seconds later you began to imagine that your efforts of self-remembering continued. Trust me, a noob cannot pay close attention to their physical, emotional, and intellectual selves for 10 minutes straight. Especially while observing the world around them.
To a certain extent, you must let go of your need for recognition and your desire to feel special. It seems that might be your chief feature, the thing that is obstructing you from accomplishing The Great Work. At this point, I can't say for sure, but I'd hate for you to go down the James Campbell road... for that is a place of folly.
Oh yeah, you should also quit smoking. It's detrimental to your health and is the very definition of mechanical behavior. Hey, I still have habits I can't break too. Struggle against them; might be your best chance at becoming more conscious!

No shaz'rahjeem, don't worry, I don't think that you are trying to put me down at all. In fact, you are very correct, I am not completely knowledgeable about the forth way. I completely value your opinion, and even more so, I thank you for telling me about the on-line PDFs. If you read what I put before, I always want to know more, and I always want the correct information, so thank you very much.
Well, if that is a taste of what it is like to wake up, then I am going to go at this for my entire life because that was completely invigorating. Absolutely astonishing. I completely loved it. Actually, your right. Thinking back on it, I was actually only doing 2 of 3 of the things I need to do. I payed attention to myself physically and emotionally, but I was not paying attention to the world around me. But that is alright. Its hard, and I'm sure that is one of the reasons that they call it The Great Work. Because its work! Alright, letting go of the need for recognition. Ill work on that for sure.
I guess I never really thought of the smoking that as a mechanical function, but now that I think about it, its so obvious. Ill have to quit doing that.
