when one has been Called, there are many changes...
for awhile now, i've believed that polygamous or polyamorous relationships might be the most desirable situation for Cthulhu Cultists.
certainly, society and government should stay out of a person's life. would anyone want their country to have authority over their religious views or love life?
if a Cultist wants to engage in a legal marriage, then that's there business. however, a man should have the option of taking multiple concubines, girlfriends, or "wives" if he wishes.
what are your thoughts? pros and cons?

Definitely... And, if I may point this out, vice versa also? *grins* Can't let the men have all the fun.... To be honest I'm not all that fussed personally, men, women, or anything with tentacles can join in as far as i'm concerned... On a slightly more serious note, I do actually know someone who lives in a relationship with two women, and has a bed built for three... He seems to do very well from it, and so do they

indeed. i'm very much in favor of bi-sexual women, and i believe that is what Cthulhu/Satan intended. at least it provides more variety as well as entertainment for the man. and when the male warrior is away, the women can play with themselves without fear of being impregnated by another man's seed... (women need sexual satisfaction too).
as for the idea of one woman having multiple male partners, that could work but it's rare. personally i wear out my girlfriend just by myself; if she had an additional lover or two, then she'd probably be one extremely sore non-stop love machine. she'd have to quit her job and everything. plus there's the emotional attachment factor.Nietzsche obviously that statement is sexist, but it is not necessarily demeaning (in my view). on the contrary, Nietzsche is saying that a woman's role is vital; man cannot live without her. also, i think we all recognize that women definitely contribute a lot beyond mere recreation. while i'm something of an old world sexist, i'm far from a misogynist.
hasn't everyone met certain women who had more fiery (masculine) energy than certain men?
i hope everyone's read LaVey's The Satanic Witch? for gender issues along with female empowerment, i highly recommend it. my girlfriend loves the copy i bought her.

I agree. People should be able to do whatever they want, as long as everyone is consenting.
There is are a few aspects of this issue I would like to point out, though.
In a lot of cultures that accept polygamy, it is because there are far less males than females because of hunting/war. Polygamy is a way of ensuring that all the women have a male to take care of them (since they are primarly male-dominated societies in which a male is neccessary)
In the majority of cultures, marriage has NOTHING to do with love, but it plays more of an economic and social role than a romantic ideal. Just like any practice, the concept of marriage has evolved throughout time.
A lot of men seem to like the idea of many wives. There's nothing wrong with that, it's natural. The problem comes in practice, though. I'm talking about jealousy.
Men, put yourself in a women's shoes, and imagine the role being reversed. Imagine that you are married to an older, richer woman not because you love her, but because it's financially convienent. Now imagine that there are other men trying to fight for the one woman's attention. Obviously, some men are going to be "studlier" and better in the bedroom than you, and favoritism will develope. Even if you are the best in bed, you constantly have to worry about the jealousy of others. You can never be extremely intimately close to that woman because promises of "you and only you" do not apply. And you have to watch your woman making love to another man. Not many men would like that.
But if it's an issue of "I have a lot money and want many prostitutes" then go for it. If you're paying them and treating them the same, jealousy is less likely to ensue.

well there are certainly less male Cultists than there are attractive females walking around.
jealousy is an issue, but i think it can be worked out. most women are naturally jealous... even when there's absolutely nothing going on!
just because a man (or woman) has only one partner, as in a traditional and monogamous relationship, that doesn't mean that they have great intimacy or feelings of love. nor does being close to someone mean that they can't be close to someone else. for instance, i love both my parents equally. i relate to both in different ways, but love them simultaneously. can't a man appreciate and love many wives/girlfriends concurrently?
and isn't having a secondary love in the open better than cheating behind someone's back? and how many marriages are damaged by infidelity!
visiting prostitutes frequently opens up a whole new can of worms. there is the illegality (at the moment). now polygamous marriage is also technically illegal as well, but not the taking of multiple girlfriends.
what about the man who wants to love and care for more than one woman? a man who loves and cares for an anonymous prostitute is a fool.
paying for sex is expensive, although so is keeping numerous concubines.
one usually doesn't want children with prostitutes.
and seeing prostitutes can lead to frequent veneral diseases. and always wearing condoms.

I have to agree with Baphomet in that consenting adults should live how they want to live. I know plenty of polyamorous people who get along just fine. As far as one-sided polyamorousness goes, polyandry (one woman with multiple husbands or lovers) is the setup that makes the most sense to me. This is the traditional way in Tibet and it has been working very well there for hundreds of years. This also makes sense for the Cult since there are so many more male Cultists than female. ;D

true, there are more male Cultists than female Cultists; however, i don't expect people to have relationships only with other theistic Lovecraftians.
it also bothers me that i'm something of a sex addict (or just a normal guy depending on what standards one has) and my girlfriend can only handle about 4 times a week (physically, as well as, level of desire and time constraints). that's really not enough for me... even though 4 times per week is probably a little above the national average.
there's also a number of fantasy/fetish activities that i would like to explore that she does not. since my main fantasy/fetish is being with two bi-sexual women at once i don't blame her for not wanting to participate in that, but i need to pursue it all the same.
of course, everyone is free to be in whatever kind of relationship best suits them. i just think that monogamy and traditional marriage are pushed down everyone's throats in our society; it would be nice to see more "polygamy friendly" groups... and that's what the Cult of Cthulhu is: polygamy friendly.

I've discussed this with my girlfriend on occasion. Mostly she just wants an additional body in the bed every now and then to spice it up, but I have suggested to her what if we did actually try to get another person to have a loving relationship with that we could both actually love and who would love us back. Unlike most guys here, both me and her like the idea of another man in the picture as opposed to another girl. It turns her on when two men are together and quite frankly I like it as well.

really? i couldn't tell.
i think it was the 'ok with having another man in the picture'. hey, whatever makes you happy.
i wouldn't be opposed to sharing a girl with another man, but it couldn't be my primary mate... especially if i only had just the one girl. but that's just me.
i've seen masters (as in dominants) announce that they'd like to lend out their submissive slave girl. that wouldn't be bad. i'd rather have the occasional crack at girl X than have no chance at all. of course, the submissive has to be a willing participant as well.
there are many reasons why someone would want to go outside the traditional one man and one woman model. sometimes it's about power and control... but it can also be about companionship, love, or appetite.

Most men have a greater sexual appetite and drive than women, to be with one woman is to bind yourself to a life of sexual frustration, more so if you are experimental in your sexual nature. But we, as men, are forced to accept this situation, or we would be without a relationship for most of the time. This leads to men 'brooding' about missing out on what they really feel the 'need'.
The problem is, one man one woman is the way we are conditioned to be, this ideal is pounded into the heads of girls from a very young age, so that's all they will accept when they grow up. Some women might be more experimental when younger, but this phase soon passes when they feel it's time to settle down, again this is a product of conditioning.
One thing this does show: god has a slappy sense of humour.

without a doubt, you have read my mind...
when men start to vocalize what's in their dark and deviant soul, then things might start changing. first, for the individual and then for the majority (perhaps).
what does traditional marriage do, except legally force a man to compromise his dreams in the name of God?
do what you must and remember this... the sex life you save may be your own.
slappy... sick... pick your poison.

Hmm... have you considered the fact that women barely outnumber men? You can't have 3-4 women each, if any large proportion of men did it you would run out. (and not any women eh? Sexy women right? About 10% of people are in age to be sexy...) To be all sexually satisfied, you'd need to become bisexual or something. Besides, while it's illegal to marry many people, you can have as many lovers as desired, I'm sorry to say it but if you're sexually frustrated, it's your own fault. Young blondes with huge breasts aren't being witheld from you, they just don't rain from the sky nor grow in trees. You'll need better sorcery before THAT happens!
Personnally, I wouldn't tolerate a boyfriend of mine to try out other girls in advance to replace me as soon as I age out of that youthful sexy figure. I had enough of one filthy christian pro-life ass reminding me of how disposable women are by nature. Damn Christian sure disgusted me away from sex. Won't that promise of abandonment disgust others away too? (STDs aren't the most attractive assets either) Mind that: most people care about their own future, and their children's, when they have some. Girls might get into sex-based relationships for fun, if that's all you're looking for, chances are the said girls will go for men who have more to offer than just their phallus. Sexaholic, also known as retards, are hardly sexy.
Ok that's harsh but that thread got annoying with arguing that you should get more pussy and blaming the lack of it on society. There's enough of them Christians making an ideology of their penis. Want many girfriends? Well seduce many and convince them that this form of relationship will have something to offer them too. If you can't, blame yourself.

yeah, that was harsh.
you are absolutely right, there's nothing to stop any man or woman from enjoying multiple partners without marriage. and that's what i propose for people who want it.
by taking another look at the institution of marriage in the cold light of day, i think there could be less unhappy people as well as less divorce. i'd like to disabuse people of unrealistic expectations: man and woman get married, live in a house with a white picket fence, and live happily ever after. usually that's not the case.
as for the shortage of women, i'll cross that bridge when i come to it.
i would think that some form of polygamy would actually prevent an older woman from getting replaced. if a guy can have 3 girlfriends, then he can keep his first girlfriend or wife while still enjoying other, possibly younger females.
women in our society should know that when they get older and perhaps lose their figure and interest in sex... there's a good chance that they will get replaced by a "newer model". is this fair or right? no, absolutely not. yet, human beings will do what they do. men lie and cheat because they can't or won't control their lustful urges. i think we have to admit that this is a problem and changes must be made. hey, i wish i could take away the world's suffering, but i can't. i can only work with what i have.
so, that's fine if you want to blame society, men, or the laws of nature. i definitely won't hold it against you.

i'm glad you spoke your mind. yes, the lads and i can be somewhat sexist/chauvinist or too male-centric at times. no offense was meant. if there weren't women around, then i don't think i'd be able to tolerate my consciousness trapped in this vessel of flesh.

As far as polymory, or however its spelled, in my opinion from experiencing it, its both nice and frustrating. I am fully capable of having more than one partner and love them with all of my heart, but yet, if one of my partners wants another partner, I am very critical of it, and hold very high standards for who they choose. And if they find someone who doesn't live up to my standards...well...lets just say that everyone gets pissed off for one reason or another, and can and has resulted in a break-up.
But I suppose thats what can happen when thats the lifestyle you choose.

One of my goals is to be in a polyamorous relationship. I'm aspiring to be a pick up artist and I enjoy reading books on the subject. I believe everyone in the relationship can be in love with each other. It may be chauvinistic to a certain extent, but I think it would take alot of patience and understanding to maintain it. Hey, I love women and I'm all for feminism! As far as being chauvinistic, this is the way we are wired to think! It's so we can procreate! It's the "nature of the beast". You just have to suck it up and laugh at yourself. It's all one big "cosmic joke" anyway.

A male chauvinist is someone who believes that women are innately inferior to men. As far as my interpretation goes i wouldn't mind fornicating two girls at the same time; or sharing a girl with another guy. But seriously, when it comes to marriage and having kids, i wouldn't want none of that. I want that women to be completely and utterly devoted to me for obvious reasons. No multiple sex partners no swinging etc. Nice thread btw

here's one definition of chauvinist: a person with a prejudiced belief in the superiority of his or her own kind.
i think there's room enough for devotion to one's gender as well as support for the other.
feminism is about obtaining rights for women. can a man "use" women for companionship and his pleasure while advocating women's rights? i think so. however, i believe that women were made for men, and it's in the female nature to care for and please her man. so, if a man has multiple women, then he has extra care and pleasure, as well as, children.
a polygamous lifestyle does sound strange, but i know it can work. not for everybody though...

I for one, is surely not offended at all by your message ( but then again, I'm not a woman ). Sometimes we are driven into certain moods and things are said. You seem (from what you have written here on the board) to be in a period of your life where you are changing or growing, and that can be rather stressful. Females can be both good and bad. Society has in many ways put them in a box of dependence and submission, and yet all through time strong and wise females have risin against all odds. I think you are selling them short. They too, are like us, they are also capable of choosing their own paths. Just to underline what i said before. Being offended over people speaking their mind, is just a natural part of life. I do not believe in keeping ones thoughts canned, and so i think you are right to post what you did, even though it may offend. It is an effective way of growing, getting ones thoughts out in the open so one can see them oneself, from a distance. It is a sure way of learning. Now i'll butt out of this discussion, before MY ramblings begin to offend. EDIT: I have sent you a PM. Its on the bottom of the main forum page that one can check ones PM's. I only write this because people usually dont notice when they have gotten one ;D
