While out today shopping around for things to give to people for Christmas(Which I now refer to as Cthulhus Great Winter Solstice, becuase if the Christians are allowed to steal holidays for their own purpose I can too) I found something intersting in a BarnesandNoble; a 30yr old book (published in 1977) titled "Necronomicon" and edited by a person who goes only by the name Simon. I was wondering if other cultist have tripped over this book or have read it in the past and their take on how...I suppose true to form it is.

You my brother, have tripped over the feared Simon Necronomicon. ;D en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_necronomiconMany have said great thing and many have said bad things about this book, it is certainly a force, and you seem to have found the first edition. I'd hold on to that gem right there if i were you.

i've read some of the smonomicon awhile back it atempts to make direct connection between the mthos and sumerian myths. Wiether the spells work or not i couldn't say but its an interesting read none the less. i enjoyed Donald Tysons Necronomicon which is dedicated more to lovecraft stories.

That is bigger than the Simon Necronomicon, thats only about 200-300 pages as far as i remember. (my books are stored in boxes right now so i cant check) I wonder which one you got. Sounds interesting. It's a complete version of the Necronomicon that I used to merge the missing symbols from the Spanish Edition along with a planetary chart of the hours of the night, an image of Olieribos, and some of the seals of the the Globes into one pdf after converting them and then e-mailed it. The original without the missing symbols is the black-letter edition, which has 635 pages by itself. I added you to my Yahoo! Messenger list. My new ID is chaos_stirred. It shows how much I love working with Nyarlathotep and Azathoth. As for the missing symbols of the Globes, some of the children of the Old Ones and their eldrich brothers and sisters switched sides to Satan. One of the people who edited the Turner Version stated that the seals was originally in the Goetia, Book 1. But I figured out the right ones and then copied and pasted them to a separate document and then printed them off. I'm also going to add the seals of the Globes to this re-make. So basically, it will literally have everything, except for the two dark stars of the Ladder of Lights (Steps 8-9) which John Dee in his Yellow Necronomicon mentions a couple of things about them, but he leaves out the seal of Gate #8 and the invocations for both of them and put everything else in it.

Could you please re-email it to me. It let me send you it again. This one has everything except for the Dark Stars of the Ladder of Lights and the Old Ones technique for conjuring the Watcher, which is actually a lot more complex than the one in the Simon Edition and is also illegal as it requires a blood sacrifice, of what I don't know. Just as a piece of advice, burn it to a cd or save it to a jump-drive so if something like that happens again, you'll still have a copy. I just did this time. Some jump drives (a.k.a flash drives) are not that expensive. CDs on the other hand, can be.

Darn. I lost my hard-copy of the Necronomicon and now some low-class demon is keeping me from seeing it. It had everything in it too.

Does anyone else want a copy of the Necronomicon that I have in my possession? Its 646 pages long and has everything in it that works. Its an extended version because I embelished on the Turner Version more by adding the missing symbols and on what Olieribos is.

Does anyone else want a copy of the grimoires of the Old Ones? Which includes the Necronomicon, but not the Cthulhu Bible. If so, leave your e-mail address on here.

Thanks for that link, it is most provident for you to be posting that for me to find at this time The Simon Necronomicon is probably the singlemost book which has entered my life, and called out to me the most. I have no doubt that this is but the next step in my journey; I ordered a copy yesterday morning and should get it within a week. (quite anxious... PDF's just aren't the same ) In recent times, I had ceased to think upon the relevance of any Necronomicon, let alone the Simon edition, so I think its interesting that as soon as I decide (out of the blue) to acquire another copy, I am hearing about it everywhere!

Yeah, that books seem to do that, dont it? ;D
I had the same experience a while back, i started thinking about the book more and more, went to look for more info about it and suddenly realized that the two new books had JUST been released. I bought them and for a long time, i heard the word SIMONOMICON over and over online.
Its funny.

Thanks for checking the link out. I am not too familiar with some of the agenda or teachings of the Cult of Cthulhu. I have read some of the pages on the site here, and it is very interesting. I like the fact that you have incorporated some of the Fourth Way material in your work. My late mentor was an Adept in this school. I have taken the Necronomicon as a spiritual path and used the Ancient Sumerian Myths to determine the "wheat from the chaff" when it comes to Necronomicon works.
I have studied Sumerianology for about 15 years. it was only after Walking the Gates that I was able to get a deeper understanding of the work. I believe that it is the goal of every sincere occultist, to use whatever system they find a calling to- to get in contact with the forces that they are students of, and that these forces exist within and without. Some societies have set themselves up with good intent, but what may happen at times, is that the focus becomes more on being a part of something than being. So far I have enjoyed what i have read through here and it seems that those who are members of the Cult of Cthulhu are putting in some serious work to reach there perspective goals.
Blessed be!
