There are quite a few Lovecraftian inspired bands and music projects out there. It would be impossible to ever sum up them all but you have to start somewhere. I have chosen to start by the simple (some might say moronic) way of just starting. The first time i remember taking notice of the name of the Dread one was in 1996, when i was given Merciful Fate's album "Into the Unknown" by my brother. The last song on the album is called "Kutulu". The chorus of the song is simply the name called out; KUTULU! KUTULU! KUTULU! KUTULU! Anyway i cant find it online so i cant link it. But besides there are many more bands to mention. Of course Metallica made the "Call of Ktulu" instrumental which was quite great. Thats one IS on youtube but there is little need to link that one, it so easy to find. This is a Mexican Blackmetal band called "Cthulhu". I love this kind of Blackmetal. Pure Blackmetal, very nice. [glow=red,2,300]The Blackmetal band Cthulhu from MËRIDA, YUCATAN Mexico.[/glow] Bands myspace page: www.myspace.com/deepcthulhu Fell free to share if you know any bands that are Lovecraftian inspired. Im gonna add more along time.

This next band is a little strange. The lead singer has an funny accent, but he really delivers. Its a heavymetal goth band named "The Old Ones" . Its kinda like Iron Maiden, only they are from the Czech Republic. [glow=red,2,300]From Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic The Gothic Metal band....... THE OLD ONES! [/glow] www.myspace.com/orderoftheoldones I mention them here because they are deeply Lovecraft inspired. Also they kinda grow on you after a few plays, they rock.

There's of course the lovely H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society, and a 60s prog/psych rock band HP Lovecraft, something called Teen Cthulhu, and Cthulhu Biomechanical...

Additions: Nyarlathotep, Nox Arcana (has an album named Necronomicon completely dedicated to summoning the Old Ones, it seems), Varathron... and Samael's album Worship Him has a track called "Rite of Cthulhu"

The 60's band HP Lovecraft rules. Yes, they are not very lovecraftian, however.
In the 1970's there was this very atonal and dischordant prog-band called Nyarlathotep. I am assuming Taukan was refering to the metal band of the same name.
The Mercyful Fate song was called Kutlu (mad arab part 2)
Anyway, I very interested in non-metal Lovecraftianism...hell half the metal bands out there have been lovecraftain at some point. So far the metal/goth band the Old Ones looks like they are worth checking out, I'll also look up Flint Glass.....Though I am a metal head from way back, want I thirst for now is more dope assed folk or ambient, experiemental, psyche and prog Cthulhu whorship! So gimme gimme.
As for metal....Morbid Angel, blessed are the sick.

AARNI, the definitive Finnish esoteric doom metal one-man band. They are fucking great! www.aarni.infoRussian projects: ITHDABQUTH QLIPHOTH, CTHULHU BIOMECHANICAL and BLACKDEATH have lots of Mythos influences.

I could go to some hippie drum circle, kidnap some dready kids. Feed them psychedelics and mind warp them, Manson style. Then, Impell them to use their drums, flutes to record me some good tribal, primitive Cthulhu music, all chanting and just awesome-like.

Or send some philharmonic orchestra type outffit free tickets to some Lovecraftian even, just to pre-tune up they're mindset.
Then sufficient drug them up--I am thinking ketamine or DXM for this venure--
And do all this right before some big important concert that they are scheduled to perform.
Record the results.
! Or , check it out, dope up some southern black church choir, with opiates, erotica and satanic doctrine. Get some real sexy type evil gospel music.

The Vision BleakGothic Metal from Germany!I had never heard about this band until today when i was messing around on youtube. I found a video of someone playing guildwars and The Vision Bleak was playing in the background, with the track; KUTULU. I found a better quality version of the track, but it loads kinda slow. Its a great track though. If you like metal, anyway. Heres a single track,
The Mad Arab pt1
By Merciful Fate
Here are the lyrics:
PART ONE: THE VISION
The son of a shepherd, Abdul Alhazred Travelling in the mountains, the mountains to the east One night before him, there stood that giant rock 3 symbols carved in blood
He built a fire at its root To protect him from the wolves...
The Mad Arab... He would understand The Mad Arab... It was in his hands...
Later that same night, awoken by wolfen's cry The Arab cold with fear, saw the rock began to rise... Rise
The son of a shepherd, Abdul Alhazred Shivering he saw Them coming, the mountain's evil priests Black robes came together, around the floating rock 3 symbols in the dark
They all started chanting ancient songs It was prayer in unknown tongue...
The Mad Arab... He would understand The Mad Arab... It was in his hands
Solos: S/D
Daggers held high to the sky The chanting had turned to screams From the pit where the rock had been 8 snake-like monsters came And the priests burned in red And the priest had turned their heads
The blood running from their chests Had the Arab scream in horror... Giving himself away
The Mad Arab... He would understand The Mad Arab... It was in his hands
Run down that mountain side, oh but they had seen him The priests had caught his scent Running faster... They're chasing him Can't go no faster... They're still behind Aaaah NO!!! They're closing in...
...TO BE CONTINUED...
And here is the track:
The Mad Arab pt 2 (the sequal to this track) was the first time i heard the sound "Cthulhu" uttered by human tongue when i was a child. I cant find THAT track online, but i was just listening to this and i thought id post it here, i like the live version better, that one is also on youtube.
Ia! The King!

Scriabin - "Black Mass" Sonata, Op. 68
The black mass sonata
This is classical music. It is a guy sitting and playing on a piano. They say that he is playing it well, so i havent looked for another recording yet.
I must write about the devils sonata when i return tonight. There is a funny story behind THAT particular piece. A funny story indeed.
Ia! The Black Mass! Ia! Shub Niggurath!

There is also a track named "Goetia" on the Canibus album, havent heard it though. Canibus has clearly dug into the occult a bit. What he found, who knows?
His stuff is amazing
