More music from the outer darkness: Insect Musicians by Graeme Revell Brilliant album where sampled insect noise (azif!) is made into haunting melodies. Lustmord - The Place Where The Black Stars Hang Dark ambient made from samples of radioastronomic recordings of stellar objects in outer space. www.lustmord.com/Tangerine Dream - Atem All their albums are recommended listening. This one has dark atmospheres and eerie haunting melodies that is very reminiscent of Lovecrafts fiction. None of these are available for legal downloading, but ye who searches shall be rewarded...

I found an album titled "An Aural Channeling of H.P. Lovecraft" from Soulseek, but the user I'm downloading from (who seems to be the only one having it) is either from Yuggoth or I'm destined to never have that album, as the download rate is always something like 0.1kbp/s...
Anyone heard this album?

if it's the dark ambient compilation i'm thinking of, then yes, i've heard it and own it. good stuff.
try contacting www.darkmusicdomain.com for the CD, probably won't be more than $13 or so. i hate downloading music because the stuff i do eventually get invariably skips, has dead spots, or the song is truncated in some way. the original source material is always superior.

The original source material is indeed superior, that's why I prefer vinyl, but CDs and MP3s have little difference (except the "feel" of a concrete CD, with booklet and all, in your hands) to me. 99% of the complete albums I've downloaded have not had any audible defects whatsoever (actually scratched CDs/LPs have the most skips and blips according to my experience), which is not to say I condone the practice. I simply don't have the money to buy the thousands of albums I'd like to at the moment. Perhaps in the future! ;D

Ok, not specifically lovecraftian, but very much worth the attention of you discerning ladies and gentlemen: DARK AMBIENT STYLES. This series of videos is an exploration of the various subgenres of dark ambient. Lots of really dark and disturbing music to use in your meditations. Lullabies for monsters... May induce spontaneous qliffotic entheogenesis.

I recently listened to Aderlating - The Nectar Of Perversity Springs From The Well Of Repression, and I though it was a cool dark ambient album.
