The Circle of Black Toad
This Ritual is made for an initiate who is trying to replace unhealthy habits or addictions. No implements are required.
Begin the ritual facing the North. Clap thirteen times, for this is the number of chaos. For a split second, you see two red, globular eyes set against a black face peering at you from the corner of your eye. Taken slightly aback, you continue.
Speak: “Kuth oola zuun Noch apreth stist d’ inha groag Ipshae ot inha Nuszeth Tornasuk Hogh thi lybstok acal hulaque lattall zanjith apreth zuun r’han.”
(Translation: It is our Will to call upon the demonic Current of the Black Devil Toad so that we might become hardened to our design.)
Vibrate the name ZHOTHAQQUAH, imagining bright green slivers of light emerging from the ground and encircling you, creating a circle spanning at least nine feet around you. Feel the air around you change, being aware that the eyes of the Toad God behold you from deep within the earth.
“I call to the depths of N’kai to the Loathsome Nigrescent Toad Thing known as the Keeper of Transformations. Tsathoggua, move and appear so that I might Become.”
“Ia, Nylvor Tsathoggua!” (x9) (Yes, Praise Tsathoggua!)
You recoil slightly as a thick, cool liquid envelops your feet. Black, viscous liquid fills the Circle, and the slivers of light become resplendent. You blink, and the toad God stands before you within the slime, huge red eyes peering into yours. You steel yourself against the urge to flinch, and staring into the eyes of your God, you continue.
“I have called you to me so that your essence might corrupt my being. Steel me against the inner I’s which seek to corrupt my intent to evolve. Augment my power of will and fortify my self control so that I might progress within the Work. I praise the Toad God which seeks the efflorescence of the Cult. Hail Tsathoggua! Hail Cthulhu!”
Particles of black liquid soar from the ground and cling onto your flesh, sticky and cold. You see the mouth of the Toad God contort into something reminiscent of a grin as the liquid beings to cover your body. The tiny puddles which cover your body spread along you, and your skin begins to harden. Your flesh becomes scales, lime green, and your eyes redden. Tentacles emerge from your form, flailing with newfound freedom. You feel your awareness magnify.
Within a split second, the God, the slime, and the Circle have disappeared, though you have retained your new form. Alone now, the events of your day are cast into new perspective, and you review the decisions you have made, from dietary choices to the way you interact with other people. You feel compelled to remember yourself more deliberately, and to make decisions more conducive to the Work.
You say “Hail the Old Ones! Hail the Cult!” and you are yourself once again.

The next time you feel inclined to an improper decision or other temptation, imagine seeing the red globes of the Toad Goad beholding you from the corner of your eye, disappearing when you turn your head to look. Thereafter, imagine that you feel inexplicably compelled to make a decision more befitting an initiate of the Cult.
