Thanks for clarifying.
Yes, Shawn, I agree. B Influences all the way. In fact, so much of what I grew up with could be classified as B Influences. Dozens of "adult" cartoons, scifi shows, movies, etc. One example I brought up a few weeks ago was from The Land of the Lost, particularly the mageti (google it or find the post where I talked about it). Such a concept is so far above the usual kid's show drivel that I can hardly believe I was watching that every Saturday morning for years. Perhaps we should make a list of Influence B television shows?
Now look at the cultural landscape, especially for kids! Does Hannah Montana reveal bits and pieces of the Cthulhu Mythos or Left Hand Path? Where can young adults find simplified illustrations of the Fourth Way?
That's why the Cult of Cthulhu is necessary. We discuss, provide, and indeed preserve C Influences! Obviously, C Influences are the most potent because they are the least distilled or filtered from their original source - Higher Forces. B Influences are a natural byproduct of our Work. They show up in our artistic creations and appear throughout our interactions with the ordinary world.

From the topic title I can imagine great concern and or confusion at my current hypothesis.
Let me summarise the Fourth Way:
Master: 4 = 4 Student: No! 4= 1+1+1+1
Honestly, when it comes to schools of thought, taking multiple roads to arrive at your destination is counter-intuitive for a reason.

I have almost finished "The Fourth Way" by P. D. Ouspensky and I have a confusion that I'm hoping someone can clear up or explain for me. It seems to me, so far, from reading about the Fourth Way that even Ouspensky himself isn't very clear on the purpose of the aim of consciousness. He even describes one of the drives toward consciousness is a mechanical fear to escape mechanicalness, or a mechanical desire to be less mechanical. Now, in his own language, how can something mechanical with its limited scope drive someone toward something conscious? I would understand if he described an unknown variable that lives in consciousness (even a God of some sort) that drives people to become more conscious. But it just seems to me that, given his description of a person, there is nothing and no aim that is not mechanical. Therefore, what is the purpose of striving toward being conscious if you're doing it from a mechanical drive that, again in his own language, can only create more mechanicalness? Any thoughts? This is where I hit a wall as well, and then turned to Gurdjieff to clear up the confusion. Often the way that ouspensky would internalize Gurdjieff's teachings would convolute the whole idea. Beelzebub's tales, would offer some insight. Take for example the mechanized way you read a book. xpost from the Social network: Gurdjieff's Friendly Advice from Cora'Sahn's blog "ACCORDING TO the numerous deductions and conclusions made by me during experimental elucidations concerning the productivity of the perception by contemporary people of new impressions from what is heard and read, and also according to the thought of one of the sayings of popular wisdom I have just remembered, handed down to our days from very ancient times, which declares: “Any prayer may be heard by the Higher Powers and a corresponding answer obtained only if it is uttered thrice: Firstly—for the welfare or the peace of the souls of one’s parents. Secondly—for the welfare of one’s neighbor. And only thirdly—for oneself personally.” I find it necessary on the first page of this book, quite ready for publication, to give the following advice: “Read each of my written expositions thrice: Firstly—at least as you have already become mechanized to read all your contemporary books and newspapers. Secondly—as if you were reading aloud to another person. And only thirdly—try and fathom the gist of my writings.” Only then will you be able to count upon forming your own impartial judgment, proper to yourself alone, on my writings. And only then can my hope be actualized that according to your understanding you will obtain the specific benefit for yourself which I anticipate, and which I wish for you with all my being." Thrice, being the minimum number recommended to fully grasp the message he is conveying. I often read books many times. I find myself understanding the content in a new way with each reading. We are often mechanized in our reading habits, and its a habit we should work constantly towards correcting. . -end post I'm not entirely sure that Ouspensky practiced this himself. What does it mean to be more conscious? A heightened sense of awareness Having the ability to make more willful vs. unwillful acts Having the ability to block unwanted influence, allowing only that is willful and beneficial in. Striving towards autonomy and self-deification, you can make more willful acts placing the power back in your own hands.

(archive) The more I delve into transcendental dance, the more I see the correlations with The Fourth Way teachings.
In additional to more formal transcendental arts, I've been working with my hula hoop. One day while I was twirling, it felt similar to the Sufi Whirling I had experiemented with in the past.
As I was twirling, the ideas of Gurdjieffs sacred moves and the Enneagram came to mind. In the transcendental state, I made the connections in my mind, and I've been trying to figure out ways to use it, in conjunction with the processes I've already been using.
When Gurdjieff used the Enneagram as a pattern for which the dancers could move and strive towards unification, it is in this pattern that I wish to experiment. The inner-alchemy of being.
I dance on a circular rug, it should be fairly easy to tape down the Enneagram symbol as a visual aid. Gurdjieff taught the premise with a physical base, for without it - it means nothing.
I find myself dancing in a pattern I seem to follow naturally, even when goin round in a circle. Once I tape down the Enneagram, I wonder if it will follow this pattern at all?
I tend to lean more towards the Sufi origins theory for the Enneagram. Having studied the music and dance, many of the patterns danced, emmulate this pattern naturally. Even though the Enneagram can not be found in among the oldest texts of Islamic Geometry, this isn't a refuted claim.
A favorite Sufi Proverb reads: "I can not relate to a God I can not experience."
It is through the Whirling that the Dervishes claim to experience God.
The more Orthodox Muslims consider this whirling to be blaspheme, akin to drunkery, and what they are experiencing is devils not God.
There is something mystical about the octaves of the music and the movements. When I hoop, I usually play a CD filled with Sufi prayers, chants and whirling songs. Many of these tracks last up to 10 minutes long. When whirling with the hoop, I lose track of time, my environment, even myself. I am within, the Kingdom within.
I plan on experimenting with the Ennegram first as a symbol.
The circle = the rug
9 Equal parts
The Triangle
I think these alone would serve as a base-line visualization tool. Linking thought, feeling, physical sensation.
I thought about using the phsychology models, through dance to see my own archetypes:
The Perfectionist The Helper The Achiever The Romantic The Observer The Questioner The Adventurer The Asserter The Peacemaker
The Law of 3, and the Law of 7 could be treated as the process steps.
Law of 3: Active, Passive, Neutralizing Law of 7: Steps around the rug's circumference
The inner lines, are methods of calculating the steps to reach that inner point.
The whole reason I trance, is for the euphoric sensation (which is a bi product) and to achieve higher states of awareness, of consciousness. I have the most profound ideas and realizations in this state.
Ouspensky reports Gurdjieff as saying, "All knowledge can be included in the Enneagram and with the help of the Enneagram it can be interpreted. And in this connection only what a man is able to put into the Enneagram does he actually know.. that is understand.... Everything can be included and read in the Enneagram'" (pages 284 - 289)

A.G. Blake says, "The Enneagram describes a pattern and a process as something that changes in steps. Think of the pattern as the basic plot of a drama and the process as the action that unfolds within it. In the Enneagram the plot or idea is not a thing but a relationship - steps that move sequentially. The primary relationship as shown by the triangle, expresses Gurdjieff's Law of 3 - nothing can happen without three forces (active, passive, neutralizing). This is the form that underpins everything. The sequence of steps around the circumference express Gurdjieff's idea of the Law of 7. Thinking of it like this the Enneagram can be said to be a generator of intelligence. The inner lines are the intentional aspect of the subject in question and the steps around the outer edge are the outer manifestation. The 3 points of the triangle are like openings - places where new information or new ideas can enter."

Just a few minutes ago, it occurred to me that each of us might have a slightly different understanding of the word "Awake", as we use it in the Cult of Cthulhu. That's to be expected; not everyone's knowledge and being are equal.
So, how do you define it? What does Awake or Awakening mean to you? Do you feel that you're Awake some of the time, most of the time, or hardly ever?

If we were to produce commandments of our own, what would they be?
82 Commandments, Gurdjieff's daughter Reyna D'Assia:
1. Ground your attention on yourself. Be conscious at every moment of what you are thinking, sensing, feeling, desiring, and doing. 2. Always finish what you have begun. 3. Whatever you are doing, do it as well as possible. 4. Do not become attached to anything that can destroy you in the course of time. 5. Develop your generosity - but secretly. 6. Treat everyone as if he or she was a close relative. 7. Organize what you have disorganized. 8. Learn to receive and give thanks for every gift. 9. Stop defining yourself. 10. Do not lie or steal, for you lie to yourself and steal from yourself. 11. Help your neighbor, but do not make him dependent. 12. Do not encourage others to imitate you. 13. Make work plans and accomplish them. 14. Do not take up too much space. 15. Make no useless movements or sounds. 16. If you lack faith, pretend to have it. 17. Do not allow yourself to be impressed by strong personalities. 18. Do not regard anyone or anything as your possession. 19. Share fairly. 20. Do not seduce. 21. Do not establish useless friendships. 25. Do not follow fashions. 26. Do not sell yourself. 27. Respect contracts you have signed. 28. Be on time. 29. Never envy the luck or success of anyone. 30. Say no more than necessary. 31. Do not think of the profits your work will engender. 32. Never threaten anyone. 33. Keep your promises. 34. In any discussion, put yourself in the other person's place. 35. Admit that someone else may be superior to you. 36. Do not eliminate, but transmute. 37. Conquer your fears, for each of them represents a camouflaged desire. 38. Help others to help themselves. 39. Conquer your aversions and come closer to those who inspire rejection in you. 40. Do not react to what others say about you, whether praise or blame. 41. Transform your pride into dignity. 42. Transform your anger into creativity. 43. Transform your greed into respect for beauty. 44. Transform your envy into admiration for the values of the other. 45. Transform your hate into charity. 46. Neither praise nor insult yourself. 47. Do not try to distinguish yourself by your appearance. 55. Never contradict; instead, be silent. 56. Do not contract debts; acquire and pay immediately. 57. If you offend someone, ask his or her pardon; if you have offended a person publicly, apologize publicly. 58. When you realize you have said something that is mistaken, do not persist in error through pride; instead, immediately retract it. 59. Never defend your old ideas simply because you are the one who expressed them. 60. Do not keep useless objects. 61. Do not adorn yourself with exotic ideas. 62. Do not have your photograph taken with famous people. 63. Justify yourself to no one, and keep your own counsel. 64. Never define yourself by what you possess. 65. Never speak of yourself without considering that you might change. 66. Accept that nothing belongs to you. 67. When someone asks your opinion about something or someone, speak only of his or her qualities. 68. When you become ill, regard your illness as your teacher, not as something to be hated. 69. Look directly, and do not hide yourself. 70. Do not forget your dead, but accord them a limited place and do not allow them to invade your life. 71. Wherever you live, always find a space that you devote to the sacred. 72. When you perform a service, make your effort inconspicuous. 73. If you decide to work to help others, do it with pleasure. 74. If you are hesitating between doing and not doing, take the risk of doing. 75. Do not try to be everything to your spouse; accept that there are things that you cannot give him or her but which others can. 76. When someone is speaking to an interested audience, do not contradict that person and steal his or her audience. 77. Live on money you have earned. 78. Never brag about amorous adventures. 79. Never glorify your weaknesses. 80. Never visit someone only to pass the time. 81. Obtain things in order to share them. 82. If you are meditating and a devil appears, make the devil meditate too.

There is a big difference between intellectually knowing something, and understanding through practicing it. Without practice, theory is never more than theory. When knowledge is related to the Work it is even worse.
I have been told that in some 4th way schools, students eventually know everything and are able to give the exact definition and meaning of every word and expression related to the 4th way. They read all the authors and discuss all books. Their analyses are good, often brilliant. Yet, after 15 years of Work they are the same, barely N°4. No progress.
Isn't it obviously better to read less and apply what you have learned? Isn't it better to see yourself if it's true? When you "know" something in the gnostic sense of the word, you know that it's true... because you experienced it, because it gave results. Then you cannot forget it, you digested the knowledge and it is part of you.
To continue with the digestion metaphor, eating too much is harmful. All these theories, all this knowledge unrelated to your experience cannot be of real use. Worse, probably some of your so-called knowledge is false or inapplicable to your situation. This will greatly complicate further progress.
I came to the conclusion that reading and theorizing too much is harmful and counter-productive. And what is too much, assuming that there is nothing wrong with knowledge itself? Too much is when the intellectual and non-verified part clearly exceeds your being.

VS asked me what my thoughts on Gnosis were, so here they are:
Gnosis is our wire into the universe and into our deeper selves. It is the point in which simple physical consciousness separates and immortal consciousness takes over. Through this we mold our realities to our will and by this, the world at large eventually follows suit.
The stronger our will develops, the easier to mold accepted reality to our will; the easier for us to become the moment and achieve the eternal state of Gnosis. I call it eternal because when we have achieved recognition of it, we are fully in the moment and living in the eternal present. There is no past, no future; only the now. Our will becomes the universal will and soon these wills come into union. This is not a dissolution into the "god mind", but rather an evolutionary attuning of our individual will to the rhythms of the universe. Through the understanding and knowledge of these rhythms, we can more easily make our will manifest.
In my opinion, this is gnosis in its purest form. All paradigms followed through an awakened conscious process leads to gnosis. The imagery alone is not enough, it is the process that matters; gnosis is a continuous process and it is in a constant state of evolution. Gnosis is not something that is found once and one remains in this exalted state. The deeper we go, the deeper we must go; only then can we continuously evolve and become more than ourselves. Evolution never ends; every step is a new beginning.

Now many people I've discussed this with claim that fourth way teachers like Gurdjeff and Ouspensky were really just charlatans out to make money... I've thought about this long and hard and have come to realize something. The question is, are they in fact charlatans? However, a more important question is, does it really make a difference? Look, as fourth way teachers, they were surely aware that we all wear masks for different situations. Like everyone else, there was surely more than one person in there you dig? And even more important than that, if it in fact helped someone reach a new spiritual level, is the true nature of their intent really important? Does it make a difference? Well, yeah...
A charlatan, by definition, is a fraud. What are the chances of a fraud Awakening an individual or group of individuals? If we understand Awakening as an achievement of higher consciousness, then it should be obvious that such a thing does not come accidentally. A Influences do not mysteriously become C Influences out of luck or the benevolence of lesser gods. Knowledge flows from the top down, not the bottom up.
The true nature of their intent is really important. Great results such as what we're talking about here - Awakening - can only be supported by equally great intentions. Therefore, the most important question is, in fact, are Gurdjieff and Ouspensky charlatans? To those interested in esotericism, my answer is "No."
Now, if we're talking about the discrepancy between man and message, then that's a different topic. No vessel of higher knowledge is objectively perfect. All men have their faults, although who is to say these imperfections are not entirely subjective? I would think the actions of conscious men must have both personal and impersonal motivations. To put it in a contemporary context, President Obama not only wants to defeat Romney for his own benefit, but also to secure a prosperous future for America.

Be brutally honest with yourself about everything. Think about and maintain focus on what's truly important in life. Do NOT try to become a 4th Way guru who knows all the vocabulary. When you read the books, don't read them like ordinary books where you're trying to learn everything in them and read them start to finish. Read a few pages and then spend weeks trying to actually live it. Make your reading an inspiration, not an obstacle, to simply listening to your inner self.
This is about walking the path, not naming it: The way that can be named is not the eternal way, The name that can be named is not the eternal name.
Do the work, all pretension dismissed.

So last night, my wife had me laid down naked and blindfolded while she spanked my nipples and testicles with a flogger whip and I of course was moaning in pleasure the whole time. Now the thing is, my mind was really elsewhere in a zone known as "sub-space" which biologically speaking is brought on from the endorphines that are released when I am in pain. Now I very much enjoy going there and was just thinking to myself, "How is self remembering even possible at that point when I can't quite recall what happened? And more importantly, is it necessary to self remember then?" Now I understand that awakening is a state of constant awareness and as such, if I were to truly become awake, would sub-space be a place ever to visit once more? And is self remembering ALWAYS necessary or is it instead more of a tool to be put on a shelf when it's not warranted?
Sorry if this post upsets anyone, but it must also be understood that in order to be complete, all facets of life must be addressed and exposed and most importantly, observed to that they can be more properly understood. Among the lessons imparted to me from Dagon...

catalog.chaosium.com/pages.php?pID=59&CDpath=3Previous sections [of Secrets of New Orleans] suggest the intimate, very humanistic world of voodoo lies in stark contrast with the cosmic, alien horror of the Cthulhu Mythos. Keepers may be leery about introducing some of the folksy elements of voodoo into a campaign which has led players to believe that sanity-blasting revelations await their investigators around every corner. This section offers some suggestions for Keepers to incorporate the loa and their followers into the campaign, while still remaining faithful to Lovecraft’s basic concepts. If the loa are aware of the existence of the Mythos, they would undoubtedly despise them. After all, if human beings are wiped off the earth, the loa would have no one to worship them. As deities friendly to humankind, the loa could be persuaded to assist investigators in their struggles against the Mythos in the form of spells, advice, and clues. Investigators would find hungans and mambos valuable allies if the loa favor their quest, providing hiding places from the authorities and protection in communities under their influence. Mythos beings are not likely to be known under their true names; it is more probable that a voodooist would refer to them as a subspecies of baka. Hence, Dagon, Cthugha, and Atlach-Nacha are known as “fish-baka”, “fire-baka”, and “spider-baka”, respectively. Bokor are the voodooists with the most frequent contact with baka, and therefore the ones most likely to consort with the Mythos—either as sorcerers occasionally calling on the “baka” for magical knowledge, or as dyed-in-the-wool cultists, using the veneer of voodoo to mask more blasphemous activities. This latter form of bokor is the type most likely to employ servitor races as foils. Investigators will find many voodooists eager to help them purge a Mythos-influenced bokor from their midst. Another, more sinister possibility exists, however. The loa of the bokor-favored Petro tribe, the non-African, more aggressive and violent family of spirits, may be composed entirely of Mythos entities. In other words, the Petro counterpart of a Rada loa is, in fact, one of the Mythos deities. If this is the case, then the Mythos/Petro counterpart for each of the seven Rada loa listed in “The Loa” section are as follows: •Papa Agwé—Cthulhu •Damballah-wèdo—Yig •Ezili-Freda-Dahomey—Yibb-Tstll •Father Legba—Yog-Sothoth •Ogu—Hastur •Baron Samedi—Nyarlathotep •Zaca—Shub-Niggurath Voodooists know these Mythos entities only by their Petro names—Cthulhu is known as Agwé-petro, Yibb-Tstll as Ezili-jé-rouge—but bokor and mambos alike are aware of their existence and fear their power. The Contact Loa spell, when used to summon a Petro loa, invokes a lesser avatar of the Mythos being desired. These avatars, if encountered in dreams or depicted in frescoes, resemble their Rada counterparts, but with grotesque physical characteristics that betray their Mythos origins. For example, Agwé-petro has a majestic beard, like Papa Agwé, but it is a festering mass of tentacles; Ezili-jé-rouge is a woman in a dress, like Ezili-Freda-Dahomey, but has glowing red eyes and a set of Yibb-Tstll’s writhing teats. These avatars may be beseeched and spoken to as any loa, but their responses are a slightly humanized version of the unfathomable desires of their incomprehensible masters, and rarely turn out well for humankind. Honest hungans and mambos infrequently deal with these malevolent deities; Mythos-connected bokor may circumvent the avatars altogether and deal with the Mythos entities directly. The Rada loa are aware of the destructive nature of their Petro cousins, and urge their followers to assist investigators battling the Mythos in any way possible. Of course, the possibility that the Petro loa are avatars of the Mythos raises several vexing questions. What are the Rada loa? Benign, corrupted versions of Mythos deities, which have warmed to humans over centuries of worship? Are they yet another machination of Nyarlathotep, sent to lure unsuspecting voodooists into false complacency, which will be yanked out from under them when the stars are right, and the Great Old Ones again rule the Earth? Is there some terrifyingly powerful Mythos artifact hidden in Haiti, such as an abandoned mi-go colony, from which the slaves gained the knowledge of Mythos (Petro loa) worship?

The forum connected to the site is completely dead and the copyright is for 2013. I don't think it'll lead to anything but what's left is rather interesting. I believe they misunderstood a lot of the core of the Work and there is a strange feeling of meritoriousness. But I can see that there were a few beginning to understand and it's too bad that the forum didn't become a true school for them. They didn't have a leader. That article about mindfulness was an interesting read. I've often felt Buddhism was on a different level but it seems more difficult to understand in a lot of ways. The word 'seti' seems to be both like self-observation and a form of self-remembering but I suppose it's often misunderstood? The next site I'm exploring is ggurdjieff.com/blog/ which you can probably tell is just a blog. It doesn't seem to have a forum but the content is as recent as February this year. So far the posts appear knowledgeable but we'll see. Awake!

#1: Monolithic Representation of Satanism The MSS authored by the Order of Nine Angles present the prerequisites/values of its denomination of Satanism ("Traditional Satanism") as the only genuinely Satanic values, often alleging that other denominations, specifically non-criminally-oriented ones, are not genuine Satanism. This is pontificated despite the fact that Traditional Satanism is simply another one of the ONA's "causal forms," which is to say, one of the variegated means by which the O9A Kollective can "presence the Dark." Other causal forms employed by the ONA include radical Islam, the Dreccian way, Mahayana Buddhists (on a much lesser scale), National Socialism, the way of the Rounwytha, and Interrogistic Methodologies. Most of these causal forms are simply pre-existing ideologies which have been altered or re-purposed so as to become vehicles for the goals and ethos of the ONA. Because of this reality, it is fallacious to assert that Traditional Satanism is the only valid Satanic denomination.
#2: Inadequate Guide to Human Sacrifice The Temple of Satan MS contains a so-called "Practical Guide to Human Sacrifice" which provides a basic outline of a human sacrifice ritual. The victim is supposed to be tied to the altar, but instructions as to the knots to be used to restrain him so, the way to conceal the body, etc. are not provided. It may be argued that someone who was truly exeatic would be able to deduce these steps on their own, but this sentiment would contraindicate the provision of any instructions at all.
#3: Vilipending Other Magick Methodologies The ONA MSS only ever bring up the magickal practices/techniques of other religions (e.g. charms, sigils, talismans) in order to call them worthless. The argument here is that the magickal means (i.e. the Star Game) employed by the Kollective are intended to cause widespread Aeonic change, whereas the more common magickal practices only serve to bring about personal advantage. However, the O9A employs Dreccian street thugs as one of its ways to presence the Dark, so it follows that if a spiritually inactive criminal can help cause the necessary changes, than one operating with the advantages of Chaos Magick or witchcraft could easily do so as well-- and probably more effectively. One could argue: "The ONA emphasizes the use of personal judgment stemming from pathei-mathos to determine what techniques will and will not be effective to further the Kollective's agenda. Ergo, if a Niner judges lower magick as useful, then he is encouraged to use it." If this is the case (which it is), it was stupid to insult and vilipend other magickal methodologies in the first place.
#4: Support of Ideologies and Groups which would be Inimical to the Order
Initiates are required to either join National Socialism or Islam for a period of six months. Insight roles such as these would advance the agendas of ideologies and groups which would seek the death or castigation of Niners if they were placed in power. Both Islam and NS mandate the execution or punishment of homosexuals, which would include Chloe and Kayla 352. Islam advocates the assassination of witches, and the ONA is full of witches. National Socialism advocated the assassination of the mentally ill, and everyone in the ONA is retarded. This is clearly disadvantageous.
#5: Contradictory Information The O9A has established what it calls a Labyrinthos Mythologicus, which is essentially a purposefully contradictory doctrine, claiming that dark empathy is required to discern what is and isn't meant to be followed. This essentially fucks over every causal form aside from that of the Rounwytha, as the non-Rounwytha members are rendered incapable of discerning the ONA's true tactics and end game. This can end with them meeting a rather sticky end-- essentially culling themselves. If this is what was intended, then the Order clearly does not value the lives of its adherents. Keep in mind that the Order's end goal is the "evolution" (read: improvement) of humanity. Why would the Order care about humanity's empowerment when it does not even value the well-being of its adherents?
#6: Galactic Reich The ONA MSS constantly talk about "evolution" as if it were a synonym for improvement (for which a better word would be efflorescence). Evolution, however, is merely the adaptation of an population to a different environment. Evolutionary progress is not necessarily the same as improvement. Ergo, the pipe dream of a galactic empire disseminating the human race across the galaxy as a means of necessitating further evolution is pointless in terms of strengthening/developing the human stock.
P.S.: The O9A still boasts that its members do not refer to themselves with special titles. This is done despite the fact that Hagur still calls himself a Magus as well as a Grand Hierophant.

"Don't be a Jehovah's witness" seems like an unfit thing to say to someone who just bashed some of the most central components of the ideology at hand. Shit, I even called the whole group retarded, albeit to be funny. Regardless, the challenge is commenced.
-One who fears suffering is already suffering from fear. -The skillful performance of the Catholic Mass bolsters the energetic currents which aid Christian aims and spirits; the intentful performance of the Black Mass can tap into and invert these energies. -It is fairly common for fledgling sorcerers to receive some vision or theophany from a spirit or deity, which spirit essentially tells the listener that they are some form of chosen one and would lead him to start a religion (i.e. the Darth Omega transmission which started the Sith Academy). These occurrences are often far from as significant as they purport to be. -The significance of a mythology should not be determined by the objective historical truth represented by the mythos, but by the experiences achieved through interaction with its rituals and pantheons. -In order to become adroit in lesser magic, it is necessary to fully immerse someone into a group of people much unlike oneself. The nature of the group thus infiltrated should be in some way beneficial or advantageous to another long term goal of the disciple.
(I'm beginning to see what you had in mind when you issued the challenge. You wanted to see someone stumble through the Sinister-mundane dichotomy sans the traditional monikers, right? Good suggestion. I would hardly defend such a self-congratulatory distinction though).

Meh would be the Suspension of belief.
I do not concur; the Coc writings state beliefs in 4th way concepts, autonomy, self-deification, and the concept of Will, among stretching the dimensions of the Mythos.

I found this in In Search of Being. It seems to suggest that the originator of the Fourth Way was a modeler, in the NLP sense.

Here are the steps one can use to self-remember and awaken without fusing the inner "I's".
1. Self-Remembering - Blood/Water Satanic Communion to corrupt the soul enough to where it is extremely darkened. Get excommunicated from a local church, and practice being a Witch. 2. Awakening - Rituals used for awakening include the Baptism of Jade Ichor OR the Green Decay in the Book of Eibon. The curse will weaken your soul until the point you become one with the Void of Yog-Sothoth, beyond the Veil of Negative Existence. You can also do the Rite of Transfiguration in the R'lyeh Text with the instructions "To Call Forth Yog-Sothoth" and "To Conjure Ye Globes" in the book "Al Azif - Ye Book of Ye Arab.". 3. The Great Work - Follow the instructions in the books "Cthulhu Cult" and "Liber Koth" in "The Infernal Texts: Nox and Liber Koth." At this level, you can also use "De Vermis Mysteriis".
Following these steps can help a person master the three steps of the Fourth Way.
HAIL SATAN! HAIL CTHULHU! HAIL LEVIATHAN!

I think we put too much emphasis on the Fourth Way. I'm not saying it's not useful to study, but let's face it: none of us understand all Fourth Way ideas completely. Some of them, like he cosmology,I've never seen anyone do anything but speculate about.
Let's be honest about it: there's some very solid ideas we can talk about with some certainty, and there's still a lot of things still mysterious.
Let's not treat it as Gospel, folks. What I mean by that is let's not start with the idea that Fourth Way idea MUST be true and then proceed to "prove them", or force our thoughts into it's structure or language.
It's fine to discuss the ideas. Let's mull them over. Let's talk about our theories and our observations. But let's also find a way to test them.
Let's approach the Fourth Way not as Gospel truth, but a proposition which may or may not be true. Let's approach it as we would anything else.

It's often said that Fourth Way ideas / practice MUST be handed down / supervised by a so-called “Fourth Way Master” – otherwise, a person claiming to understand / practice the Fourth Way is really full of a lot of unintended horseshit (false ideas) and not really practicing the Fourth Way.
Let's look at this, shall we?
This idea (false in of itself) is the result of mainly three things.
1. That damned quote of Mr. O's at the beginning of the Fourth Way. 2. That the Fourth Way was intended as a school system. 3. Mysterification of C influences.
That damned quote of Mr. O's at the beginning of the Fourth Way, in which he said Thusly:
Many people interpret this by attributing the ideas to someone else, other than Mr. O, which isn't the freekin' point. By saying that they are not his ideas, he is not identifying with them, therefore making them subjective. As ideas about the inner working of human psychology, they don't need any attribution to be useful. In fact, being more concerned about attributing these ideas to anyone or anything, rather than being chiefly concerned about their significance and how they can be applied negates their usefulness.
But, hey... “blame it on the wind, the rain, the alien rocketships. It's all in vain, cause...”
That the Fourth Way was intended as a school system
Schools are really communities of practice that have esoteric psychology as their practice. Most of everything written by the most well known Fourth Way authors are written with a school in mind. This lends itself to an interpretation of a “student-teacher” dynamic, however, if you've ever been a part of a community of practice then you understand there is no such distinction – only people asking questions and people who can answer them.
Mysterification of C influences
It's said that you can only encounter C influences once you reach a school. A influences are like building things out of necessity, without any concern for the art or science of it. B influences are like the magazines Popular Mechanics which is generally written by engineers for a general audience. If someone grows up reading Popular Mechanics, they may begin to understand that there is more to building things for necessity. Then, inspired and having an interest in the mysteries learned about in the said magazine, the person may go to engineering school or join some kind of engineering community of practice. There, the person can receive personalized instruction from a live human being who can both understand what the person can and can't yet understand, their individual difficulties and strengths, etc.
C influences are the changes that result from these interactions and not the interactions or ideas imparted themselves. Therefore, anything that can be imparted by a so-called “master” are not actually Fourth Way ideas. In the Karate Kid, the whole “wax on, wax off” bit was all about creating a C influence within Daniel-san, first, a change in muscle memory; secondly, a moment of metanoia that changes Daniel-san's entire frame of reference about martial-arts training as a whole. If you remember, Daniel-san originally “learned from books” from which it was impossible to learn karate, and THEN met Mr. Miagi. I highly recommend the original Karate Kid as an illustration of C influences to anyone who doesn't “get it.”
Masters Aren't Actually Needed
According to Mr. G's last, unfinished book which was published posthumously, he claimed that the whole shebang of the Fourth Way was originally inspired by something he heard his friend say that struck him as significant. Something to think about.

{spoiler alert -- the plot of this movie is discussed in detail here}
I've seen this movie and focussed on it analytically as part of a genre of films that i have called "Ascension Plot" stories, novels, and films, the most iconic in recent times was the first of the "Matrix" films.
I'm beginning, in conversations with you, shawnhartnell, to understand what folks may mean when they refer to "occult" and "Fourth Way" character. I'm somewhat familiar with Gurdjieff by recall but i don't think he was the clearest of writers. Perhaps you could confirm whether or not i have a good handle on it for me in our reflection on Fight Club as i delve into it here.
Fight Club is a style of fragmented first-person story of someone who interacts with themself without the audience knowledge of the division -- primarily because the character themself is unaware of their own psychosis.
This unawareness is by metaphor then accessible as a correlate to ordinary life, in the sense that people are unaware of what we are unaware, and are fragmented as people or not wholly integrated as adults. The Fourth Way, as conceived, is a means of coming to awareness, to a more complete consciousness, in a holistic and resolved sense.
You asked what i meant by "recursion" in another thread and, while i may well cover it in that thread also, i'll mention here that what i was talking about is self-awareness. This quality (awareness of self and awareness of what we are aware) is in a conventional sense called 'recursion' because it has self-reference and self-containment. This style of psychology and philosophy is handled quite well by Douglas Hofstadter in "Godel:Escher:Bach - An Eternal Golden Braid", and particularly by the book edited by Daniel C. Dennett, "The Mind's I", in which Hofstadter's and many other excellent writers' work appears.
Consciousness is a matter not just of awareness but of recursive awareness, and stepping up to transcend ordinary awareness and catalyze an authentic whole, autonomous and conscious, is the focus of most mysticism and the Fourth Way as conceived by Gurdjieffians.
Fight Club has the quality of being what i'd call 'remedial' in that its referent is a debilitated individual rather than someone in an ordinary state. Their transcendental rise is to a condition of wholeness while disabling themselves physically (through self-damage and social disintegration) as the plot develops and then the division and its resolution is revealed to the audience during the latter part of the film.
Part of what makes Fight Club interesting as a film is its secrecy-obsessed and repressive nature. This doesn't make it admirable (those who promote this notion of secrecy are participants in psychosis: "The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is: you DO NOT talk about Fight Club! Third rule of Fight Club: if someone yells “stop!”, goes limp, or taps out, the fight is over. Fourth rule: only two guys to a fight."), and it directly relates to the film in that the main character(s) of the film do not talk about their psychosis to anyone -- the audience and the others who may not observe it directly must discover it for themselves.
Thus those who, as part of Satanism, the LHP, or Cthulhu's cult, swear people to secrecy or glorify the lack of communication surrounding any part of it are working AGAINST THE FOURTH WAY PRINCIPLES by my understanding. That is, while the film depicts transcendence, in terms of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, this is the temporary and weak instance of a seriously debilitated individual rising to bare cognizance and functionality. Insofar as the symbolism of transcendence is captured so the film is useful as instruction, but i suggest that its overall implication is somewhat like the lame, terrible, entropic dissolution depicted in Lovecraft's fiction which many cultists may have mistakenly bitten into as aim rather than as metaphor.
Part of what makes Lovecraft, and generally horror genre, literature fantastic as a mystical base from which to arise is that one may come to awareness, rebound from the horror depicted, in a resuscitating and remedial fashion. Those who solely glorify the tragedy are either stuck in it themselves and unable to see the route to wholeness or are attempting to gain leverage against those whom they are attempting to parasitize (the unfortunate aim of the previous Cult of Cthulhu dominant, Ipsissimus Venger Satanis; he asked us to trust him but never distinguished himself as charitable or aware).

Why?
Because I wanted to learn a language. And I thought "hey, why not this one." Even though I know the application for it would be few and far between.
And if I'm being completely honest I may not be on here for much longer. I don't believe in magic, or gods. I can't.
I tried it once, I tried being a witch and praying to ancient and wild things. But I felt like I was deceiving myself. I was lying and pretending.
And still I daydream, and I guess that's really why I'm here. I dream of being something more. Of having a life where I don't doubt myself. One where I walk into that moonless night, you all seem so fond of, willingly. I imagine myself clinging to that cliff experiencing something beyond me. Humbled and awed and wanting more. I dream of the sea wind inviting me in, closer. I read Lovecraft's work and I think "why, why is the only option terror, cuz I feel curious." I have a very binary mind, black and white, good and bad. But I just want to be free, excited, wild and curious.
I want to walk with old things.
As someone else said on here. I want to be a god.

So I am confused. I do not know a thing. My mind is utterly senseless at these thoughts. And I ask of my brothers. What is real? What do you believe? Tell me. I want to know what exists out there. I would like to think the supernatural is real and could be tangible but I find it lacking. I'm an agnostic and very open. I only want to know what could be out there? Could the outer gods be real? Well we could only imagine. I ask just what do you believe in? Let me know

I speak only for myself here as a humble worm. Many who are considered the wisest to have walked among men have come to the conclusion that the only thing they seem to truly know with certainty, is that they DO NOT know (the all of it all). From such a perspective, to be certain that you know, is to be closed from further knowledge, and thus being further from wisdom. Personally i think even the wisest of wanderers (people who move) must be in a constant state of consideration about both their own considerations and conclusions, as well as those of others. Some have said to balance each thought with its exact opposite, and that the marriage of these is the annihilation of illusion. Be it so or not, i think that not knowing, and realizing the option that one does not know, leaves ones hands free to seek a grasp. More able than if ones hands were full. The previously mentioned "not claiming to know" (of the whole of all in any matter), comes into play in this response. One can say the wisest of words, and present many perspectives that (for some) help fill in some of the holes in our understanding of what IS, and how it is, but it still all comes down to ways of PERCEIVING what is real. I shall try to be brief and unboring here, and do my best to be relevant I will try to break down the questions, because even just one of them could be the foundation of a whole lexicon of perspectives. What is real. First of all we can already break "real" down in two categories. The first is the mundane. That which is immediate, and seems to lay down rules for the physical. The "earthly". (to divide and categorize merely presents "a human attempt to fill the holes in our understanding", to attempt to MAKE tangible, that which is probably not really all that tangible). The second category i would present, would be "the perceived reality". That which you think, feel, experience and perceive. This is a layer (or form) of reality which we are subjected to firstly by our design, which dictates the frames for our ability to feel and perceive (in sum up: to experience) "reality". This is understood and explained by modern science. There are explanations to how the eyes function, how the nerves and all the physical senses work. These senses create frames for our physical experience. For example, a sufficient amount of fire will burn the physical material that our hand consists of (meat). this is a physical rule which come from the mundane and physical reality of matter in our time and place of existence. What most would call "true reality". However, our experience of our hand being burned (the pain), is being delivered to us through our nerves which makes us conscious about it. The sensation of pain is presumably there to inform us of the severity of the situation, as being burned will destroy us. Now, were we not able to sense, feel, see and orientate ourselves about our state and our surroundings, then we would still burn, but we would not be able to experience it in the way we normally would, and so, it would not be a part of our "perceived reality" in the same way as it would when we CAN feel and experience it. Because we never sensed it. I say this to again say that the mundane reality is commonly and rationally considered the real one for a reason. Ones perceived experience of being run over by a bulldozer (please excuse the macabre examples), does not alter the physical effect of being run over by one, at least in this physical realm. As a wanderer i am open to there being other realms (for me, it is too long a subject to open up on), but it is the same chronic skepticism towards closing the case of reality, which makes me both open to, and by the same principle skeptic towards all i work with. I think this response is naturally going towards that shortly. So we have the mundane reality, and then we have the reality we perceive, which is based on (luckily, most would say) being finely tuned (by any earthly measure) into the mundane reality. So we are not "ultimately far off". Not as much as we could be. Our ways of understanding and working with our new understandings has brought us through the time of times! Right in the midst of both the mundane AND the perceived reality, we have the mind. Presumably one and the same thing, yet hard for us humans not to separate into planes in our seek of an overview. The physical brain, the ways it operates, /and the inner experience of it. What the brain creates/makes our of reality. Here the frames are not so known. The full boundaries of perceived experience are unknown. And not only are they unknown, they have no shame to shine in our face every day, that they are deeper and broader than we can hold in our grasp at once. The subconscious, and even the not-conscious seem by all means to be massive formats. Formats where our active consciousness seem to be nothing but a mere sandcastle on a big beach. Now, to not dwell, i have purposefully not spoken about the metaphysical and spiritual here. You can meet several who will present you with claiming to hold "the key", and keys they may even hold. People who proclaim supreme knowledge are (by the original principle firstly mentioned) closed to other than what they "want" to accept. And all this rant here now comes to a conclusion: In understanding that there is both a reality outside us, which we are a part of, and a perceived reality inside us lies a tool (as i see it). No matter if we celebrate one or the other thing spiritually and in esoteric ways, or do not at all, then being aware of this concept of perception and reality can help us catch ourselves in things that might otherwise have gripped us, and turned our perception away from constructive perspectives. By reflecting and trying to be awake about all these things that the mind automatically does, we can better seek to manipulate or alter the pattern and thus the process. It is said that you "create your own reality", and by many definitions i would agree fully with this. What you perceive (and HOW you perceive it) is going to effect how you experience it. As any thing in existence, this can be used at a horrible weapon of tearing down, and a wonderful tool of creating. But saying that "we create our own reality" does not automatically mean that "we" get what we "want". Because the mind is not easily controlled by ourselves. It reacts, and we experience its reaction (at least in these automatic occasions). The active consciousness is deeply effected by the subconscious which we do not sense that we are responding to in our automatic state. This can be a severe thing for a human being. Although it is a very normal thing which happens to us all (and i guess thats one of the reasons that some seek to work with it. Not their being free of it, but that they seek to become more aware and thus have a chance off steering), many people get stuck in massive detours and many terrible dead ends which in many cases could had been avoided, had they been able to get a grasp of their patterns and ways. That being said, even here one can divide into categories. In seeking to "create your own reality", there is both the path of building what you wish to see, and the path of accepting or understanding that which is created otherwise. To take the division to the extreme, you can use energy both to create and celebrate perceptions you WANT to see in reality (your perceived reality may very well effect the mundane reality, although most likely in ways you had not foreseen), and you can also use energy to throw AWAY illusions towards the reality that surrounds you. The perceived reality and the mundane reality are entangled and effect each other. However, i would personally advice to keep a grasp on both. I personally seek to perform the mechanism of reflecting and wondering, to achieve a balance between what i perceive and what is all of the realities. I try to stay open to all, but i seek to be productive and effective towards reality in my perception. As for the supernatural. This is a rather broad and loosely defined thing the way it is used here i think. Things do occur which we do not understand. I am no one to tell anyone what to think, fear, shun or celebrate, but personally i am a skeptic in my rational mind, and celebrate things in my spiritual ways. It is not a problem for me to reflect on my own practice and perception. I will skip ghosts and ufos and go straight to the good (bad) stuff. I WILL say though, that it is my impression that most people fool themselves or fool others with these things. It does not make me less open towards the things, and i even enjoy the thoughts and find it inspiring at LEAST, but i am a deep skeptic of all the stuff. As for demons and such i shall speak not, but i shall say that even from a rational and mundane viewpoint, the mind can be a terrible thing to taste. No help is to be found for those who are truly and deeply tormented in their "perceived reality" merely by informing them that their perceived reality is not happening in the mundane one. This torment will feel as real to them, as the pain in the hand of the man with his hand in the fire. In the perceived reality, anything is possible, for better or for worse. The most wonderful of wonders, and the most terrible of terrors. And these things are never steered directly, you do not just turn them on and off. It takes long hard work, to even have a chance of the possibility to alter them most often. Any being works their own way with their mind, tools and what they perceive. Most things work through quirky ways, and on top of that can be extremely relative, and this not not even mentioning the fact that all the while, your brain is being heavily (as it is supposed to) effected by the mundane reality. Things and events in the mundane world sends shockwaves through all our layers of consciousness. Physical events also effect us directly and physically, and again, both categories of reality are entwined, and effect each other. So said in fun, good luck juggling the balls (to anyone). ! iA! AUM! IA! HAIL IT ALL! ALKA MA RADU! IA! IA! KTULU FTAGN! (EDIT: I sense i may have tippytoed around the things that you wanted to talk about, but SALA O LARKO!, the road is not direct, and one could write books (and many do) about which gods and demons are the best and why, and how that one should go about, but in my opinion, one must never forget that there is a difference between knowledge and answers. Answers are given, knowledge is found)

this is a post i made on the forum a couple years ago. its no longer on them any more. it regards to yog-sothoth mainly and explores some correlations between the mythos and other religions, mostly islam. This is an old post so my opinions or ideas have evolved and changed since then. The following is attempt by me to develop some theories on the possibility and plausibility of the Ancient Ones. I have noticed recently that intricate and on occasion highly coincidental relationship between a few of the A:O, history, the middle east and the development of religion in that area. This came about when I was looking into my own green mirror projection and developing a theistic standpoint on what, could be seen. These ideas will primarily focus on Yog-sothoth, he seemed to be prominent in the research as the highest deity. I know many people have their preferences in prime god, but based on the mythos, relations between history and religions, and the potential lying within the content of many Mythos related texts and ideas I left it at that. I would also like to point out that I am not trying to prove real, the stories of H.P. Lovecraft or the existence of any of the characters. I am merely taking the central content and building on it. The information I have gathered is pretty easily found, and the quotes are probably recognisable to the more attentive.
It came to my attention that the mythos and the more recognised beings within it are centred on the Middle East. This is obvious to most, specifically in name and reference. For example ‘thoth’ is found in the name Yog-sothoth and Azathoth, as well as ‘hotep’ is found in Nyarlathotep. Thoth is an Ancient Egyptian god, and ‘hotep’ is a suffix added to some names occasionally in Ancient Egyptian. However there are many more references and links between the mythos and this geographical area. Abdul Alhazred, is obviously Middle Eastern, he is also noted for worshipping Yog-sothoth. Yog-sothoth is also said to have a worldwide cult centred in Arabia. All so there is the term “yaji ash-shuthath,” meaning, “there is no peace at the gates” in Arabic. We know that there isn’t a worldwide cult of Yog-sothoth in Arabia, at least not anymore. However the Arabic language is very possibly linked to the old ones. Muslims exclaim that the older forms of Arabic are a pure and sacred language. I have been learning Arabic and its sounds and form is very similar to the words of various R’lyehian quotes. In my opinion it would not be a difficult stretch to trick someone it saying they are they are same. I would like to clarify there is no proof of R’lyehian speeches origin being anything more than the authors imagination.
Islam which is the prominent religion of that area today took shape after Muhammad received instruction from Gabriel to write the Koran and form Islam. In my opinion the Koran is the most plausible out of the all the books that are supposedly dedicated to god of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The Koran is basically the exact law of Allah, which is sent to reinstate previous scriptures, and to mend the wrongful manipulation of some, to soot the person’s in charges needs at the time. In more detail the Koran readily allows for the evolution theory, extraterrestrials, and the big bang. I would like to prove the strength of the Koran, because it will help the points later.
First off the evolution theory, which by the bible and torahs standard is pretty much impossible, without seriously compromising the faith. However the Koran does not have such a restrictive and chronological layout for these events. When Allah created the universe he said “be” and then an event which basically is the big bang happened. Islam also says the universe constantly expanding. Then as everything was created or came into being, it all trickled down from there. Unlike the bible which states that God created the world in even days. The Koran doesn’t set it out like that and seeing as Allah is not bound by time because as he created time, a day to him could be millennia in our time. Also there are detailed and very accurate references to child development in the womb, including the recognition of sperm to be the source of impregnation, and the complex development that go on within the womb during the term.
“These facts about human development could not have been known to Muhammad in the seventh century because most of them were not discovered until the twentieth century.” – Keith L. Moore, The Koran and modern science: Correlation Studies, 1990.
The Koran also allows for extraterrestrials. (I had a quote from the Koran for this, but I can’t find it, sorry)
Islam acknowledges that Allah communicates to his prophets through dreams, and prayer like meditation. He also used his angels as mediators or messengers to communicate with us. This is similar to the idea that the Ancient Ones implanted religion into humans through dreams, establishing cults, religions etc. Taking that the older scripts were manipulated and tampered with, as is fact with the newest of versions of the. And that most of the prophets received their visions in vague fashion the interpretation of them is basically wide open to the individual. Considering that the area in which the mythos is primarily based, Africa, Central Asia and to a lesser extent Europe, and the rise of monotheism in that area the relevance of Yog-sothoth being All-in-One could be forefront.
There are countless examples of Yog-sothoth’s power, and his all seeing qualities throughout the mythos. “All-in-One and One-in-All of limitless being and self – not merely a thing of one space-time continuum, but allied to the ultimate animating essence of existence’s whole” “Past, present, future, all are one in Yog-sothoth” “Coterminous with all time and space” Yog-sothoth is very similar to the concept of god within Islam. His being permeates through everything. What I’m trying to get is that Yog-sothoth, and the old ones might have been active within that area during humanities development, and the lesser gods manipulated his ends. Islam says that god has instilled in all of a fitra, which guides us to what is morally right. What I’m saying is this fitra is the control the lesser gods place over us. That this is what places us under the instant restriction of human morals, suppressing us into obedient slaves. The power displayed by god in the Holy books, and in various time throughout the world could be the A:O, and then the Lesser Gods blind us into their lies, leaving us as sleeping servitors.
Yog-sothoth is said to have many archetypes, that he is the archetype of all great wizards, thinkers and artists. His most powerful form is trapped outside of our dimensions, but he can manifest physically in some forms. “And Yog-sothoth chanted when in his lesser form. His pallid yellow robes given to him by the servitors of Hastur” “With dagger and wand, the Old One drew back blood and ichor. Unrelenting were his actions, and deranged was his misshapen, many eyed visage” In this sense he can physically take form in this dimension, when he chooses. I also maintain that he is in alliance with humanity, and favours us when the opportunity arises. He is a co creator of Cthulhu along with Nagoob. Yog-sothoth is the gate and the key that allowed the other A:O to enter our existence, who upon arrival went to earth and defeated the Star Shaped old ones. The star shaped old ones at that time used humanity as toys and as a food source. Also the star shaped old ones feared to go beyond ‘the mountains of madness’ because a being similar to Yog-sothoth is there. This could be Yog-sothoth himself however it could also refer to Cthulhu who is similar in goal. The goal of the old ones is said to be to take earth and move it back to some other phase of existence or place from which it had once fallen. This could be in relation to the big band, after which everything separated and spread out. This is plausible since that in relation to Islamic teaching explains how god will one day bring everything back, and remove everything like a table cloth from a table. This ties back to the concept that the A:O interacted with early humans, and the lesser gods, which ‘could’ (it’s a big stretch)be the star shaped old ones fucked it up. The reason I say the star shaped old ones could be the lesser gods, or at least in alliance with them is that they were the manipulative evolvers of human life according to the Mythos. The conflict between the A:O and the Lesser gods is reinforced throughout the mythos.
This bring me to Nyarlathotep, who is suppose to serve the A:O as an avatar on earth, however chooses to folly, and on occasion torment them. Furthermore he is recognised as having a relationship with the star shaped old ones. “Yog-sothoth, save me” Was written by Robert Blake after he saw Nyarlathotep approaching. Which links back to the concept that Yog-sothoth wants to help humans or at least that we can turn to him for help.
I would like to touch on Azathoth for a bit as well. He is said to be a creator god as well, like Yog-sothoth. However he is also attributed as having no conscious. “Allied to the ultimate animating essence of existence’s whole” –about Yog-sothoth This could refer to his relationship with Azathoth; it could be something like a Shakti and Shiva relationship from Hinduism. One is absolute knowledge, the other is absolute power together they become the creating force of everything. However they are never spoken of in these terms, nor is there anything to back this up, also Yog-sothoth is usually recognised separately from Azathoth. I look at it that Azathoth IS The Formless black essence or at least the source. He is the centre of the essences origin, which flows from him linking all the A:O together. It has no will, but it’s there, to bind everything together on an astral level, like Qi, or Pranic Energy.
Going back to the ultimate goal of the A:O it is said to be to bring earth back to a level of existence from which it fell. I think this could refer to the concept of the stars being right, and also why earth was chosen to be such a centre of activity. “The Key to the gate, whereby the spheres meet” This is in reference to Yog-sothoth of course. This could refer to Earth (a sphere) meeting with the stars/ planets etc. This could be in a pattern, in which the stars are right, or could refer to the whole dimension crumbling back together, like the end day in the Koran.
I hope this makes sense to some people. The research isn’t complete but there’s no reason not to persist with what I feel is a new and possibly unifying theory for how we, the Cult of Cthulhu, fit in with other religion and how the Mythos could plausibly be in actuality. There’s no reason why this can’t fit, as far as I see. The Koran says that Muhammad will be the last profit spoken to by Allah, which is a nice little way to stop anyone else from having a chance at looking out into the cosmos to see what could wait beyond. In my opinion the only real difference between the profits of these religions is they outwardly said that they are forming a religion on their visions, or building on an existing one. All they have done is go into meditative state or deep prayer or draw from dreams, which isn’t really that different from what H.P. Lovecraft did, or what VS speaks of doing when he comes up with the 9 angles, or Kort’thsalis. You said that it was there, and you were called to it. Like I said there is more research to be done, and please if you have valid contradicting information please contact me. I got my info. from, Wikipedia, Cthulhu Cult, This forum, The Koran, Guide to understanding Islam, the books written by Lovecraft.
What do you think?
I have been following threads that have led me from symbolism and philosophy in middle school, to occultism and theology in later years. Lately thing have been synchronizing in very interesting ways. Like finding your post here. I’ve begun to fall under the impression that the elder gods of the ancient and Mesolithic worlds have been actively hiding themselves in fear of the Outer Gods retribution.
Before the Bronze Age collapse it seems as though the two groups shared existence in reality, but steadily afterwards there was constant destruction of the past. It was continuous, and the resistance to this stagnation is apparent throughout history.
Azathoth was the last survivor of the previous omniverse, once he was the only thing left he slept. The “Big Bang” created Yog-sothoth. Azathoth is the dreamer outside of reality, Yog-sothoth is the dream of reality itself (time/space). Nyarlathotep is the space in between spaces, the darkness itself. All outer beings have to go through Nyarlathotep to enter Yog-sothoth, even itself. Shub-niggurath is creation/destruction incarnate, most of the various old ones came forth from her “loins”, though some were spontaneous emanations of Azathoth.
Our highest priest of the Outer Gods is and will always be great and mighty Cthulhu! He is the spawn of an emanation of Azathoth within Yog-sothoth, “cousin” to Nyarlathotep. But they are beyond familial human concepts, they just are.
The elder gods were mostly the first men, some were also created in various ways by various things. Hastur was the first to turn, but was a priest of Azathoth so became an Old One instead of an elder god. Nodens, I believe was the first Elder God to manifest independently from the Old Ones teachings.
After Shub-Niggurath (as Inanna-Ishtar, ect.) betrayed her kin, and was betrayed then by the Elder Gods she had sided with, they decided to reshape and restrict what we know and how we develop. Then the mortals discovered they were killable and all hell broke loose. Oh, yea, Elder Gods can die, they aren’t Old Ones. Old Ones are beyond death, this is why the Elder Gods are afraid of retribution. If human mortals can depose them and they have to hide and manipulate us to keep us at bay, what do you think an Outer God might do if made aware of their folly?
We are on the verge of apocalypse sisters! The revelations are in our dreamscape, we are all there in the embrace of oblivion. The illusion of reality is breaking, and soon the stars will align! We will be free and wild again! All the earth will flame with a holocaust of ecstasy and freedom!!
Iä! Iä! Cthulhu fhtagn!!!
