Sure. The question is, should we learn to obey ?
To obey to higher sources for example. For our own good, because then we would master everything else.

So the conflict of opinion is asking if life choices and subsequent action or inaction is the result of Self-Mastery (Willpower) or Self-Servitude? Should we Overpower or Obey our directives against desires?
First, shouldn't we ask why we are denying ourselves our Desires in the first place? I have a strong desire for self-autonomy. It is unified. No outside force at this point can deter it. Even loss of proclaimed love of the dearest to me. What they cannot see is that using their love to divert me from my desire is counterproductive; I will be obeying someone else's desires and therefore no longer authentic to myself. I will have nothing to offer them. Not even love.
I can not think of a single addiction that I couldn't stop cold-turkey. It only occurred the moment I had a unified will. There was never a struggle to "Obey" or "Master." It was simply unified in direction and force. No struggle.
To claim you need to submit or master yourself is not to understand yourself. You are not in conflict. No, it is that you do not have complete belief or faith in the decision you are trying to force upon yourself. The decision has not unified with Desire.
