There are a couple ideas I want to play out. The Enneagram is the device of the deceptive matrix. In Search of Being is really the quest of escaping the illusion of physicality/materialism/the carnal. Two of the topics on Coc touched on Reality and Is Math Real? The video on reality exposed the 'fuzzy' nature of quantum particles. The nature of these particles suggested a false 3 dimensional reality, or should we say we live in a holographic world. This would imply our world is non-existent; an illusion. But we 'perceive' this world as solid and material. Just as I have told someone recently I have experimented in my lucid dreams and found tables were as solid as the ones in my awake world. I could feel them, move them and bang in them. Were they real? How about the reality of Math or Language? To accept these two concepts we must accept the physicality of our universe. Both math and language are symbolic forms of understanding. Math allows us to understand natural laws. Language allows us to understand each other and allows communication including manipulative communication. Math says we are bound by natural laws that bind us in limitations. Elements, the building blocks of our universe, are identified through the quantifiable properties of their atomic mass and their distinct number of protons. Yet we have learned their smallest quantum particles do not follow preset measurable guidelines - the fuzzy 2 D perplexity. So are atoms real? Math seeks to map our universe in limitations and symbolic gridlock - literally a grid locked. A fabric of illusional measurable planes. How about language? Another symbolic form of understanding. An interesting fact about DNA is it is also a language system. RNA and DNA are a system of coding and decoding to not only communicate the formation of proteins but a second language is coded in the strands to instruct the cell in how to control the genes. Language is genetic. Language is also symbolic as we see in the enneagram. The enneagram is a moving sound, much like language, that creates a waveform - a mathematical grid when set in motion. What if the enneagram is the 'matrix' of perceptual deception we live under? The 4th way talks of impressions. Sound is impressionable. www.cymaticsource.comGives new meaning to Silencing the mind. Light has similar wave properties. Could it be that the silent abyss is reality, and white noise is the illusion? I believe a path to Consciousness is going to require an escape from the effects of these impressions fed to our senses ( perception) on a scale that will require a break from the materialistic/physicality/carnal belief system. We will essentially have to break from the illusion of reality. Science as we know it may have to be dismissed. Evidence and observation will not be reliable indicators of verifiability. Just a passing consideration.

Have you read The Holographic Universe? You might find it an interesting read relating to your post.
I often use the scientific "facts" about our essential non-existence to help me remember my true self.
An important question. If we don't exist, then what is the meaning of our perception of existence?

Wren, I believe we do exist. We exist in a perceptive illusion of false limitations; a holographic sonographic smokescreen. Take bees for example. Bees communicate and understand their world primarily through pheromones (and they 'see' other spectrums than we do such as ultraviolet.) It only takes one substance for complete mind control of the hive - smoke. It disturbs the field of their perception through pheromones. Smoke induces compliance through false fear. Bees are theorized to 'believe' the forest is burning down and become involved in filling up on honey stores, which I have observed them do. We have been evolving into a hive mind - mass mind - for quite some time now.
If the theory of a false reality is accurate then being entrapped within the confines of the illusion makes it difficult to discern what components really exist. I believe two components must exist though, as the illusion is created by both sound and light. Just because the images on a TV screen are false does not mean that the TV screen doesn't exist.
Our perceptions are limited in the ability to perceive only a fraction of reality. We can only sense a small spectrum of visible light and we can only sense a specific frequency of sound, yet both sound and light have far more spectrums and frequencies than we or even our tools can detect. (Think Dark matter.) What do both light and sound have in common? They transmit via waves. They both are measured in amplitude, wavelength and frequency. Dissimilarities exist in that light is an electromagnetic wave, which has the ability to travel through a vacuum (no particles) and sound is a mechanical wave that, as we believe, requires particles for compression and displacement.
What is unique about both sound and electromagnetic waves? They are both can be a source of energy and a mode of transmission for energy. We live in an energetic universe. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, or so Einstein believed. But it seems that some systems require more energy than others for existence. For example, the metabolic rate (use of energy) is greater in a hummingbird than a human, but this comes at a cost of a shorter lifespan. (How long do Galapogos tortoises live?) What gives off light energy? Stars. So what are planets for? Satellites. And what do satellites do? Transmit energy. Our planets have may theories about their particular placement. Think of the 4th way Ray of Creation planetary distribution. Planets may be the particles needed for sound energy transmission through the void of space.
So what is the need for a holographic sonographic illusionary gridlock over our universal perception? I'm not sure. Maybe our planet is an excellent transformer for another population of interstellar beings. Maybe our planet, our life forms, our own bodies feed an energy transmission. Maybe Venger Satanis wasn't far off in his CoC work that we are merely food for the Great Ones. I'm still working on the why.

An important question. If we don't exist, then what is the meaning of our perception of existence? I dunno what meaning of which you speak. How do so many people come to the conclusion that there is meaning to... uh... you know... mean something. Do we exist? Tricky question. First, we have to define what existence is before we can claim to exist. Secondly, does it have meaning. Damn, what is it I would be claiming to have meaning? And since I'm claiming and not testing, I further claim I am a ROCK GOD. (Helllll yeah!) Ahem. If you mean 'what is the purpose?' my best guess is that it's survival related, a tool (much like a hand, or foot) for carrying out our genetic directives. (Note here, not all genetic directives imbedded in us are beneficial to the individual, so, by survival I mean survival which considers the individual in scope.) But alas! I've come to that conclusion working with a brain constructed by genetics, run by genetic directives, imposing what I think is objective order on the ineffable willy nilly, forgetting for a momement, the constraints of my own being. It's a useful framework, but certainly no TRUTH. The most important flaw with that is that I'm assuming purpose without a purpose maker. Who's purpose, or no purpose, that is the brainfuck. I take the reverse enginner's perspective: I dunno, but I have a working idea.

I think I fall in line with Salvador Dali:
"Singers,[9] painters, writers, theorists and other individuals employing a number of means of action have attempted to oppose or undermine consensus reality while others have declared that they are "ignoring" it. For example, Salvador Dalí intended by his paranoiac-critical method[10] to "systematize confusion thanks to a paranoia and active process of thought and so assist in discrediting completely the world of reality"."
(Interesting article on Dali's bio)
"Dali's life changed dramatically in the years to follow when he joined the surrealists, a group of artists determined to record images from the subconscious mind. By 1928 Dali exhibited regularly with the surrealists and had become influential within the small movement. Around this time he met his future wife Gala, an enigmatic woman often referred to as "the muse of surrealism." That it was a time of artistic experimentation and discovery is aptly reflected in his canvasses of that period. "I believe," he wrote, "the moment is at hand when by a paranoiac and active advance of the mind, it will be possible (simultaneously with automatism and other passive states) to systemize confusion and thus help to discredit the world of reality." Surrealism asserted religiously that the inner world of dreams and the images of the subconsciousness were more authentic and of greater import than the plastic appearances of the outer world. Many surrealists turned to bizarre techniques to pursue this conquest of the irrational. Automatism, or "automatic painting," while tending to produce monotonous pictures, was very popular and remains so. Later, hallucinogens became an inspiration of choice. When asked about drugs, Dali said, "I do not take drugs. I am drugs." As other artists self-destructed around him, Dali was refining his method of obtaining images from beyond conscious human intellect: paranioac-criticism.
The "paranoiac-critical" method of painting is the detailed reproduction of subconscious images either from dreams or spontaneous or self-induced delirium. In other words the process meant to slip out of focus with consensus reality in order to follow a dreamlike series of "irrational" association, and then to reproduce the result in some medium. The painter referred to these exacting pictures as "hand-made photographs." His 1931 painting, The Persistence of Memory, showing soft watches hanging limp, symbolised the pliability of space and time. Dali felt that this work foreshadowed the discoveries of nuclear physics that matter is discontinuous and time is nonlinear. In fact, it was this realisation about the nature of matter that led Dali into the most productive and spiritual part of his life.
In 1952, Dali recorded in his journal: "It is true that Nietzsche, instead of driving me further into atheism, initiated me into the questions and doubts of premystical inspiration, which was to reach its glorious culmination in 1951 when I drew up my [Mystical] Manifesto . . . Nietzsche awoke in me the idea of God." Influenced further in the direction of mysticism by Gala, a longtime student of esoteric matter, Dali's work began to take on a religious character. His return to Catholicism prompted such works as The Madonna of Port Lligat (which was approved by the Vatican), Christ of St. John of the Cross, The Last Supper, and Corpus Hypercubicus. Hypercubicus is perhaps the most profound and beautiful example of Dali's religious works, and the most obvious representation of the artist's "nuclear mystical" work. In this work we see a shining, pristine Christ suspended beyond gravity against a hypercube, which is by its nature an atomic "cross." The foregrounded figure of Gala is the root of the picture, a reflection of the Logos and a manifestation of the Divine energies expressed through the atom. This canvas invites the viewer to meditate on the Christ as a physical reality.
The theme of nuclear mysticism is present somewhat in nearly all Dalinian work since 1950. Atoms explode into cubes and spheres, the material world is broken down into disconnected particles, and swirling cones ("rhinoceros horns") symbolise manifestation, appearance and purity. Other ontological symbols are used throughout Dali's version of the Tarot, where they often take on a hermetic, alchemical quality." dali.uffs.net/ascii/napsali/1990eyer.html
Consensus cannot guide us. Take this thought. What if DNA is the coded mechanism for 'receiving' perceptual information. A preconceived transmission to a genetic antennae of sorts. We only see what we are allowed to see.
What about Carl Jung's theory of 46 and 2? Aborigine's can 'see' the interconnected grid?? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collective_unconscious
How come insects do not comply with our consensus reality? Snakes smell with their tongue and hear with their bodies. Bacteria communicate with chemical excretions. Plants communicate with separate species through carbon exudates to bacteria and fungi. Bats hear ultrasonic sound.
Perception is not equal among the planet's inhabitants.
I'm still searching.

Consensus cannot guide us. Take this thought. What if DNA is the coded mechanism for 'receiving' perceptual information. A preconceived transmission to a genetic antennae of sorts. We only see what we are allowed to see. I think we are able to recieve a certain number of base impressions, process them in a certain number of ways, in exactly the same way an 8bit computer can only register numbers of 8bits (from 0 to 256) which it can take as an instruction (to do a process) or as a value (to process on). However, by a set of instructions which transfer information between two memory locations (instead of just one), the 8bit computer can handle 16bit numbers. (0 to 65,535). The set of instructions is like a mini program, or a node in our nueral net which allows us to combine our base functions and do things we natively lack the wetware to do. (The 8bit still crunches only 8bit numbers, it just does it twice, with some steps like solving a math problem inbetween.) No idea. No way to find out. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affordance
