Fifth edition will be hitting store shelves (virtual and otherwise) this summer. It's an exciting time for paper & pencil tabletop roleplaying... 40 years after it was born (just like me)! Wizards of the Coast (owned by Hasbro) are releasing a free version of the basic rules online in conjunction with a Starter Set for Dungeon Masters. The "advanced" full rules with all the little options, tweaks, and added complexity are coming a month or two later in staggered release dates - you can already see the artwork on various blogs and amazon. For those who don't know, WotC did a massive, 2+ year open-playtest. They wanted to know what D&D players past and present felt about the game, what they loved about it, what they disliked about 4th edition, and everything in between. Hopefully, 5e will be the most popular and awesome edition of D&D ever. This link is to the latest WotC announcement: www.wizards.com/dnd/Article.aspx?x=dnd/4ll/20140527VS
