i just re-read this short story that Lovecraft co-wrote with another author, Hazel Heald.
an interesting little story. it's not part of the Cthulhu Mythos, but there are a couple sentences about ominous megaliths in Africa... something about The Fishers from Outside... and evil deities such as Tathogowa and C'ulu.
i like it when HPL subtely alters their names in some of his stories, especially the collaborations. it adds to the vermisilitude. Lovecraft's creations embody his fascination and horror of the universe. these entities live on through these fantastic stories... his contemporaries included Lovecraft's hints, names, books, and paradigms in their own prose. one reference builds upon another to fashion a multi-faceted black jewel of unspeakable perspectives!

Do you have a link to the story or if not could you give it's title. Sounds interesting and I do not remember having read it before.

i'm quite sure "Winged Death" is contained in The Horror In The Museum book. those are the stories written by HPL as well as other authors. for a small fee, HPL would edit and re-write stories for clients. overall, these collaborative stories don't have the same cosmic gravitas as HPL's solitary works, however, it's interesting to see Mythos ideas set in off-beat, not-quite-so Lovecraftian works.
