I hear this a lot. Seems to be a common complaint. The complaint of course, comes from the quitters or passers by. They can't hack it, so they leave and say: "Well, Venger doesn't do much anymore, the CoC has lost its meaning..."
I can't help but wonder what kind of understanding these Naysayers have? What were they expecting from the CoC? When they didn't get what they were after, they quit and then run off to some other group to complain. Sometimes those complaints are brought to me, as if I'm the proverbial hall-monitor of the Cthulhu Cult.
Does Cora'Sahn represent the proverbial hall monitor? Am I here to keep checks and balances? Maybe I am, but then again Maybe I'm not. Your interpretation is yours alone.
I participate in discussions and contemplate the the framework of the Cthulhu Cult and what keeps the structure from a complete collapse. The Cult will never die, it has always been. It comes in many forms, its structure is flexible and paradoxical in nature.
"That is not dead may eternal lie, and with strange aeons even death may die..." "Cthulhu in the city of R'lyeh, dead but dreaming; when the stars are right will rise high and gleaming..."
Maybe what lies deep inside you is dead, but dreaming. What does it want? What does it need?
I've read many statements by VS that show a loathing towards the quitters. Why would he feel so strongly towards those that quit? The Cthulhu Cult is not some hall of worship to serve those that go down on bended knee like slaves. At best, it's a conduit for you to better serve the self. If you give up on yourself, well then you are a pretty vile creature.
I think we can each stand at the Mountains of Madness and see the fossil records of our own pathology. The shoggoths are assuredly at the gate. Will you allow these things to run off with your life, or will you play Azathoth's flute and keep them at bay?
If the CoC has lost its meaning, then obviously you didn't know what it meant in the first place but there's still time... Perhaps you were just projecting your imaginings upon it. Is the Cult Daddy going to pay you an allowance or will you earn your keep?
If you can't think of a single thing to write for the up-coming Newsletter, then I wonder what you've been doing all this time? People come and go, it's the nature of the beast but some return over and over again to answer the call.
What is calling you? Is it some boogey man in the sky or is it your former self beckoning to bring you back from the Shoggoths keep?
You reap what you sow...
Tell me what you have been reaping.

I dont see how it could ever lose its meaning. Like Cora'Sahn so eloquently explained, you will get out of it EXACTLY what you put into it. I have been coming to this board since it started, why? Because I see very clearly that we are heading in the same direction. Many paths can lead to water, and I really feel it boils down to aesthetic. My own LHP Black Hethni paradigm runs parallal with that of the CoC, albeit an alternate reality, but what have our Chaos magick backgrounds ingrained into our illumination deeper than theological solipism? Jack shit, thats what. So in that sense the CoC will never die. We are ALL gods, and the godforms we know upon this concious realm from which I now type this post, are projections of ourselves. Pick one. You will have no choice but to speak volumes about yourself simply by your choice. All you have done is look into the mirror, Jungian shadow blah blah, you know where im going with this. 23/93!!!

Over the years I've observed that each cultist has their own paradigm and it finds a common thread with the CoC. It often runs parallel with the ideologies espoused, including my own.
The CoC doesn't require that you abandon your own, but perhaps it could use a little polishing, and refinement. A cultus.

I would never say the Cult of Cthulhu is loosing something... maybe fewer new messages on the forum these days, so what ?
A lot had been accomplished. Many questions received answers, so many topic debated, Books & magazines written, and our message brought to many. That's not abnormal if there are fewer novelties.
I don't worry about the naysayers...

Nonsense. Whatever claims someone makes toward the CoC and it losing it's meaning or drive, are unfounded and made with discontent.
Look, all organizations, especially those which exist and are organized primarily online, go through a natural ebb and flow. There will be times when activity isn't as much as it could be but that is to be expected. Life finds a way to distract us and get in the way of our goals. We've all fallen victim to this in some way at one point in time. I like to think this is the Universe trying to keep us from Awakening to our true potential.
This Cult shall never die. Never lose it's meaning. I have complete faith in that.
The Cult of Cthulhu shall never die!
