In my work, one of the foremost symbols-perhaps even the primary symbol-of the Black Adept is that of the Tower. And what is the Tower? It is a symbol of Ascent. The Ascent of the Black Adept in hir process of self-becoming, striving towards self-deification. It is a symbol of isolation-As in the maiden in the tower, or the ivory tower of the intellectual. The willed Isolation of the Black Adept, isolated from the laws of god and man, a universe unto hirself. It is a phallic symbol-The phallus of the dark sovereign, which is embraced by the velvet darkness of the unknown.. It is also of course the traditional residence of the wizard in both folklore and fantasy fiction. It is a symbol of the Axis Mundi. It is that which, like a tent-pole, keeps the heavens from collapsing. It is the siege-
engine of those who declare war on god(s). The Tower is the 16th trump of the Major Arcana of the Tarot, and a mightily unfortunate card to be drawn-And why is that? Because the Tower is the symbol of man's war on god via the Tower of Bab-il, which led to the scattering of nations-But such a technique by the demiurge was necessary in order to prevent Man from seeking his rightful place among the gods(for Man carries the blood of gods far older than that great bearded blusterer who presumes to rule over this terrestrial sphere).. And 1+6=7, the number of the dragon-Not surprising, for, like dragons, Towers also seem to have a tendency to guard maidens. The kabbalistic path corresponding to the Tower is that represented by the Hebrew letter Peh, meaning mouth(fitting, as the mouth utters speech, and said speech was confounded by the demiurge in an attempt to circumvent its construction). The Qliphothic tunnel corresponding tot he Tower is Parfaxitas-Whose number is 450, And 450 is also the number of TN, Tan, meaning dragon in Hebrew. Towers and dragons again. The Tower of Bab-il was regarded as a means of declaring war on heaven according to kabbalistic lore. In Greek myth, the Gigantes piled boulder on top of boulder, making a sort of make-shift tower with which to lay siege to mount Olympus. Means of ascension, place of isolation, penis, wizard's house, tent pole and siege engine.
