Definitely read "The Call of Cthulhu" by H.P. Lovecraft. While I much prefer an actual book, the entire text can be found here:
www.dagonbytes.com/thelibrary/lovecraft/thecallofcthulhu.htm
That lengthy short story (some suggest it's a novella) is the Cthulhu Mythos epicenter.
For non-fiction, I suggest starting with The Psychology of Man's Possible Evolution and In Search of the Miraculous by P.D. Ouspensky. Also, it wouldn't hurt to read The Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey.
