Hello, my name is Ian. I am 20 years old and was a born again Christian for about 16 of those years. I would go to church every Sunday and listen to the "good word", but something was missing in the depths of my being. Naturally I was told that the void I was referring to should be filled be the deity Yaweh or God, but no matter how hard I prayed or tried to believe, I noticed no changes whatever. I gave up on western religion a few years ago, but it wasn't until maybe a year ago that I had a moment of realization. It dawned on me that if there was any sort of "salvation" to be had, I alone would have to make it happen. I suppose that was the start of my journey down the Left Hand Path.
I had already taken an interest in occultism before my realization, but never delved into it much besides listening to death/black metal music and reading some Lovecraft stories. At this point my knowledge of the Occult, Fourth Way, LHP, etc are still elementary at best, so I would be grateful for a list of essential reading material, to give me a more solid foundation in these things.
At this point in my existence, my primary goal is the acquisition of knowledge. More specifically, the ability to view Objective Reality and discern it from Subjective Reality. I am also very fascinated with the idea of higher beings existing in realms beyond our own.
If I may inquire though, what is the basis for acknowledging them (Cthulhu, Yog-Sothoth, Nyarlathotep, etc.)? Are they recognized as actual beings, or are they just symbolic or archetypes? Has anyone here contacted them directly?
I welcome any answers or explanations.
Perhaps I should share a bit about my personality (or at least the way I perceive myself)... I feel like my "calling" - or whatever the recognized term is on this site - is to create. Aside from occult things, my other passion, ironically, is mechanics. I am very much intrigued by how physical objects interact. My primary hobbies are building LEGO models (my own designs, of course) and tinkering with cars. The latter helps feed my desire for adrenaline as well as being a creative outlet.
Anyway, that's me in a nutshell. Any feedback is appreciated.
The Great Work has just begun!
