I was thinking...we can not proclaim to be awake and actually be awakened. In fact by acknowledging were asleep we come closer.I feel the same may hold true about the human spirit. We have to assume it does not exists. Then we have to work on creating a spirit for ourselves. The only way humanity can overcome poverty of the spirit is by having one.The only we he can have a spirit in which to enrich is to create one.
I have theories on how this can be done and my idea is simple. One has to ritualistically create one, just as there are those who ritualistically commune with gods create the belief of them.

Care to explain those theories a bit more? I think I partially got your point though...

I often talk about waking up, in many different levels and planes. I agree that claiming total awakening in the full extent of the word is unfruitful because it is a counterproductive claim in a sense. If one can not awaken anymore then what? I think that full awakening shall come with the wake of Cthulhu and vice versa.
We must keep awakening and awakening and awakening.

I dunno know if this helps,if it doesn't Ill elaborate more ( as I'm unbelievably drunk at t he moment but here goes..We are to assume that no human is born with a spirit, rather he or she attempts to cultivate a spirit in vein by religion or belief in an afterlife. However to truly have a spirit, much like awakening, one must work hard for it.Be it countless hours in a ritual chamber dealing with astral material released by will on the mages part and shaping it to every obsessive degree, to visualizing this substance in what form we desire to live in : the spirit is not without a price and is not without its effort.

What if there doesn't exist a spirit in the beginning but we simply ATTRACT spirits from the aether/astral plane when our brain and will grow mature in the physical body? A fetus would not have developed a spirit.
Just playing around with your theory...

Interesting idea . Things like soul and spirit are culturally and socially synonymous with being what i am ironically. My thoughts were somewhat inspired from some astral exercises I read about. I read in a book about astral projection that a good exercise is to visualize releasing an astral substance and to mold it into a twin of yourself.
It is supposed to build awareness but just maybe what it actually is doing is creating an astral body from the ground up.A spiritual body then would be constructed the same way from the ground up,except its labeled as spirit not astral (is there really a difference). The idea of attracting spirits is awesome and I'm glad you mentioned it.
Each person can be said to resonate with some demonic or angelic entities naturally right? (is there really a distinction between angel and demon ?) There are some folks who resonate with Satan,Cthulhu, I find I resonate with an entity under the title Lucifer. Given this,it is very possible that such entities become part of the spirit or at least temporarily adhere to the mind when no spirit is present.
I remember when I first did the ritual described by the Church of Satan involving the higher guardian daemon,I of course chose Lucifer.Although the unconscious evocation was not supposed to occur,I did start to take on certain aspects of the said entity.Perhaps this is why some say its dangerous to jump right into such matters with little experience...I lost myself to that entity those years ago and it became an obsession.Having no spirit or soul,I suppose the demon became a temporary filler.
To this day I still lose myself to any demon or astral terror in the area when I go to sleep from time to time.In order to prevent this I will begin building a spiritual body. This way , I have a filler with an identity I can associate with what I desire to be or what I am.Being prone to possessions like a medium is by no means fun.
