I just thought of something... What happens when what you would do anyway also coincides with what your magickal group or what have you is doing? Are you following the crowd or still doing your own thing if it was what you were going to do anyway? I mean, I'm almost always a lone wolf when it comes to these things and I don't appear to follow any crowds or paradigms, but what if hypothetically, there was a group who did everything exactly like me? Would I still be an individual following my own will?

How do you determine what is of your own Will and what is as a result of influence? There are influences all around you, at all times - so what you would do anyway, is it really free of influence? If the group in question is doing similiar things, or have similar goals to your own, perhaps this is just finding a peer group vs. having your hand forced.

I read a really interesting book by Sam Harris about the concept of free will it was a quick read and I highly recommend it has many parallels that we have discussed on these forums and also some eye opening new ideas for me.
I originally had a friend at college who was interested in discussing these ideas with me and I stumbled across a video of a lecture where he presented how memories, genetics and a few other thing I forget off the top of my head effect how we choose things.
It reminds me of the I's that Lord Satainis discusses in Cthulhu Cult on page 127. Its a really good read and if you don't have the time at least watch the video it is 79 minutes but I think that it coincides with many of the ideas that we have discussed within the cult.
