Yes, Dude Tyson. Categories! Awesome suggestion. Wow, this is really becoming a thing. Great job, guys. I'm impressed. And in response... I'm upping the ante.
Many of the suggested books I've never read. Probably not the only one either. Therefore, I propose that we take about 3 months for each of us to acquire and absorb 3 recommended books. That's 1 book per month. Why? Here's some reasons...
___
1. I don't feel comfortable putting a title on the CoC reading list unless multiple Cultists have actually read it, not to mention highly recommend it.
2. This is a good opportunity to expand our subjective reality. Reading a selection of new psychology, occult, history, and 4th Way books can only broaden horizons.
3. The challenge. This could be a super-effort which yields tremendous fruit. I know it won't be easy for me, but I am up to the task. Remember, that long term challenges and medium term goals are more difficult than short term challenges and goals. Test yourself!

Those who accept this proposal should take some time between now and the end of June to choose their 3 books and obtain possession of them. List which books you'll be reading here in this thread.
Book 1 will be finished by the end of July - strive to write three paragraphs of analysis for your fellow Cultists.
Book 2 will be finished by the end of August - strive to write three paragraphs of analysis for your fellow Cultists.
Book 3 will be finished by the end of September - strive to write three paragraphs of analysis for your fellow Cultists.
Sometime in October we will collectively create the official Cult of Cthulhu reading list and post that in a couple places on the net and eventually in the collected works.
Ok, I want to throw a few more books out there for variety's sake.
Creating Magickal Entities: A Complete Guide to Entity Creation
The Republic by Plato
Lord of the Rings trilogy
Sex at Dawn: How We Mate, Why We Stray, and What It Means for Modern Relationships
The Red Queen: Sex and the Evolution of Human Nature
Thus Spake Zarathustra by Nietzsche... also his other works such as The Anti-Christ
Anthem and possibly other books by Ayn Rand
Possibly books on historical subjects such as the French Revolution, American Revolution, English Reformation, etc.
As one might imagine, all the books mentioned vary in length and difficulty. Some could be read over a weekend and others will require the entire month. Take this into account. If you're extremely busy right now and a particularly slow reader, then don't choose a 500 page book. However, if you've got some free time and are a quick reader, then why not attempt a collection or series of books?
