Who here views Cthulhu and the Old Ones as symbols? Symbols that represent all that is presented here. For some it's insane to think that there some us that have altered our reality in such a way, that we would believe in such madness.
Isn't madness a beautiful thing? Through my journey, and through my dreams, I have come to believe in the unbelievable. Believe in the Old Ones, and at the same time believe in myself.

"Merely" symbols? If consciousness is its own category and minds interact on this plane, then symbols have a power beyond mundane social communication (though that is powerful too). Symbols can affect other minds, and material reality, if enough people give them strength.

Symbols can affect other minds, and material reality, if enough people give them strength. That is true, just pointing out the two different sides. Not saying symbols don't have power, but showing the two different sides. Like Traditional Satanism vs Layenism Satanism, both are powerful but one worship an actual Deity and the other uses symbolism. I know from my time spent on here that there are two sides. Sorry for the use of the word merely, kinda see where your coming from, but wasn't my intent. I modified the post by taking merely out.

Reality is symbolic and symbols constitute reality.

Don't worry man, you didn't upset me or anything.
It's weird, while I was strictly philosophically materialist, I used the phrase "symbolically religious" to describe myself in some cases. Because, I figured, symbols were just a tool for communication. However, now that I see symbols as more than that, I still am very symbol-oriented, but now it means something rather different.
