Remembering your "5 Questions with Venger Satanis" video from oh so long ago, I saw Prince of Darkness, and I gotta say that it was OK. Not as good as its sequel or prequel, but not the worst Lovecraftian movie I've seen. Although the zombie woman with the maggots/worms in the cup just made me go, "WTF?"
It was a little hard to understand, but overall, not bad. The other thing that makes it similar to the works of H.P. Lovecraft is how the world is saved from a certain destruction: pure luck. In "The Call of Cthulhu," it was pure luck that conditions weren't right and Cthulhu fell back into R'lyeh, thus sparing mankind from a terrible fate. Ha, and with that last sentence, it makes me sound like I'm glad humanity survived. When hell freezes over, maybe I will be.
Ia! Shub-Niggurath! Ia! Ia!

amen, one of my favorite carpenter films, i actually googled the hell out of it after reading that, although, deep in my heart, i knew it was not true. in the mouth of madness was another, caused me to get a little obsessed, before i ever knew about lovecraft being the "father" of these two films
