Hello, everyone. I'm Ubercrow, and after maintaining a profound interest in the occult for several years, I finally felt compelled to research this cult that seemed so enigmatic at the time, recently stumbling across this site!
I've been "lurking" if you will for a couple of days, as I thought that would be best before introducing myself. Needless to say, I've been thoroughly captivated by what I've seen here. I've already read most of the sections of the site, browsed the forum, and read a good deal of A:O.
I've been interested in the Cthulhu mythos for longer than I've been interested in this site, and have already read "The Call of Cthulhu" and various other works of H.P Lovecraft. I enjoy listening to epic metal, including a band "Bal-Sagoth" who's lyrics are largely based off of Lovecraftian Horror. Otherwise, I've just had a natural interest in occult arts and magicks for as long as I can remember, and never thought to act on those urges, as they seemed too dissenting, though they really were part of my personality.
I used to be a Lutheran Christian, but my family and I were never very religious, and I eventually turned atheist, and was interested highly in theoretical physics. I had been a man of reason for quite some time, but in pondering the scope and breadth of the universe, I realized that man knows so little compared to all the knowledge he must be missing out on, and there must be some way that goes beyond superficial proofs to find it.
Finally, what convinced me most to adhere to the Cult is that I have long been disgusted with the general state of humanity. I found everything that was done to be sickeningly mechanical, repetitive, and soulless. I was surprised to find that becoming awake was the main goal of the CoC, rather than worshiping strange gods, needless to say, I was very pleased and am definitely open to the ideas presented here, they seem to be drawing me in and I feel the need to learn more about them.
I'a I'a Cthulhu fhtagn!
