I never got into GI JOE as a kid, I was more busy with being a fan of Thundercats, Dinosaucers, Teddy Ruxpin, Fraggle Rock, Snorkels, Voltron etc

Cobra is definitely backed by the Illuminati. But like Hitler, the Illuminati can make mistakes lol.
Cobra's definitely a character being backed by different members trying to gain a better footing in the Illuminati game. So I think.
The Illuminati works together sure; but If I was North Korea or china, I might put a few dollars into gaining a better position on the table lol. Cobra knows how to manipulate the Illuminati so as to not get killed. He has all the right friends & can risk pissing off the other members without to much repercussion.
Don't doubt they haven't tried to kill him before though. He's smart & knows who to keep on his side when he's out screwing shit up lol.
I wouldn't doubt he has plans to destroy the Illuminati the first chance he gets. Fucking Joe's keep getting in the way!
Id like to be the Illuminati hit squad sent to kill him. Only to see his plans are kick ass & join. Ill bet that's happened a lot lol.
