one of my favorite games is GTAIV and 0ne day i thought how it would be so easy for us to believe we live in a 3D reality but really live in a two dimensional reality. but how would you go on to test that hypothesis?

because 2d being can't have the structual complexity or complex biochemical systems and a few thousand other reasons. the reason a video game can work is because there is no actual food being eaten etc.
that being said flatlanders are just a reference tool, to help communicate the idea of the 2nd dimension. there are no ultra thin beings moving around. if they were then their reality would be so fucked up they wouldn't have much to do, further more they couldn't be much more complex then say.... an electron.

i'm just trying to figure out how our world is an illusion. From the inside, it's not an illusion. It's a digital simulation. I wouldn't even call it an "illusion" from the outside, a character in a computer game is "real" within the context of the game, and the "game" is "real" while its' code is running. The "player" of the game is MORE real, imo, because the player exists in a higher dimensional framework. |

interesting maybe the word 'illusion' is misleading . I resonate some truth with your post b/c DNA holographic projection i.e. our reality exists b/c we perceive it. illustrated by the Tao.

Our reality exist by perception is more then just the sense that it isn't real and is an illusion. what it means is that reality is subjective. For example you could recall one series of events, and someone else recall something else. Neither is wrong.
a good example could be. Today if i killed someone i would be jailed, were as a few hundred years ago i could kill some, declare them a heretic, and dance around with the head on a pike in a conga line, and no one would flinch. Thats a pretty basic example when you compare it to things envolving other dimensions.
