Is it possible for there to be a loop in reality or to cause one?By loop I mean a repeating sequence.I know this is a short first post but I am curious in any experimentation (especially in the occult) where an individual or group are able repeat a sequence in full experience.

I believe a residual haunting may be just that.. a sequence looped over and over.. is it a event so emotionally charged that is IMPRINTS on reality to be looped forever.. or is it a rending between the veil of time and space, allowing a glimps into an event that keeps being played out in endless realities?

You came close when you said a glimpse of something that plays out in endless realities but it is not quite what I meant.Technically, one can assume life, death, change(evolution) and reproduction play out endlessly in endless realities. We can see this mirrored not only in Lovecraftian entities but all entities mankind has made symbol of or payed reverence to since the dawn of time.
Let us say the universe now is an open system.Things repeat but not in the exact same way.A better way of stating it would say that base events or concepts echo themselves onward. They repeat but not in the same way.
What I am then refering to would be a closed system that repeats in a perfect circle. The idea of residual hauntings that replay themselves over and over again comes close in that the events are repeating exactly the same everytime in a closed system (a home). What I propose is putting oneself in that ghost's pilot seat so to speak. In other words, the creation of a closed circular loop where one not only relives an experience over and over again but once the event is lived,it starts over again and again: like a broken VCR playing the same segment of tape over and over again.
Don't get me wrong I would not want to be stuck in a loop like that as it'd be the continuation of the same over and over again, (although to the person experiencing this' perception ,it will be new every time.In theory the consciousness would not recognize that it is trapped in a loop.)
Is it possible by magic to experience something in such a fashion where the perception is stuck in this continuous replaying loop?Is such a thing possible in space and time as we know it (or don't know it) for such a repeating loop to exist? In theory could one isolate or cause such a loop in observable space / time to exist (as a means of perhaps trapping an entity into this space.Kinda like placing a djinn in a "time bottle" ?)?
I know ...it sounds very absurd but when I was into chaos magic there were people who claimed they could move consciousness up and down through dimensions (which I found equally absurd) so I figured maybe by some sliver its possible.Or would this be a better them for just writing a book and be best left out of the occult? My thoughts arent to organized right now...sorry.

The repeat DOES seem to happen, just in different ways.. look at the rise and fall of various empires, and how history seems to repeat itself.. it kind of makes you wonder.. As far as moving conciousness throught different realms, I think in astral travel you can visit any realm you wish.. I dont have alot of luck with astral projection however, unless it is a lucid dream that TURNS into an astral trip.. I can will myself to leave my body when I try to astral project, but the feeling always shocks me and gets me excited.. and that is where things go wrong. The excitement throws me out of the trance. I guess with practice, I could learn to brace myself and be prepared for the sensation of seperation, but untill then, I will have to launch from dreams.
