Lets begin -
My name is Abraham Ogden and I know very little about HP Lovecraft, barely anything about Cthulhu, and nothing about this Cult. That is why I am here.
I've decided to discard previously held paradigms and to adopt a new one. I choose the Cult of Cthulhu in part because of my initials being AO, and in part because of my ignorance of it.
As I dive in and acquaint myself, feel free to direct my attention to anything and everything - for I am a voracious student.
It is nice to meet you all.

I hope your time spent here is well spent and that you are able to perhaps expand your knowledge of certain things that you otherwise feel uneducated it. If you have any questions feel free to ask. One thing the Cult of Cthulhu forums have are plenty of people who are willing to share any insight they have. Awake!

Welcome to the forum, Abraham. I suspect there's more that brought you here than just ignorance and initials. Not that you have to divulge that information; just my impression.
If I were you, I would go right to the source. Here are my favorite H.P. Lovecraft stories in no particular order...
The Call of Cthulhu
The Dunwich Horror
At the Mountains of Madness
The Hound
The Shadow Out of Time
Dreams in the Witch-House
The Statement of Randolph Carter
The Case of Charles Dexter Ward
The Thing on the Doorstep
The Color Out of Space
The Silver Key
Through the Gates of the Silver Key
The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath
The Whisperer in the Darkness
The Haunter of the Dark
Start with some of those. HPL's prose might take some getting used to, but I believe it is well worth the effort.
Awake!

A few years ago I bought a copy of the commemorative edtion Necronomicon: The Best Weird Tales of H. P. Lovecraft, and it has been sitting on a shelf - unread - since then. I think it is time that I opened it up and started to read. I'll use your list as a starting point. Thank you.

Excuse me if I may be so bold. How can you just abandon your beliefs for another set without the necessary research and inquiry. I have found a name to a way I have been my entire life. I am an Independent Satanist. My paradigm allows me to go where I wish to learn. In the process where ever I go I give something in exchange for the gifts of knowledge I receive. I ask a lot of questions and am very open to comments, questions and possible friendships. I am not attacking you . I am just commenting and hope to create a dialog with you. Hail Satanis !
