warlockasylum.wordpress.com/2010/06/28/warlock-asylums-interview-with-cult-of-cthulhu-founder-venger-satanis/According to our most recent correspondence, Warlock Asylum is going to give this forum thing another shot. For those who don't know who he is or forgot... he's into the whole Gate Walking stuff with the Simon Necronomicon.
Even though he's been critical of the CoC in the past, I wanted to smooth things over and give him the benefit of the doubt. So, I welcome him warmly, but each and every Cultist on here will have to decide if he's worth engaging. In any case, the interview isn't bad.

"Res: The Simon Necronomicon is dependent on the Mythos of HP Lovecraft (I'm pro, you're con)."
That sounds like something we can discuss. However, If you are "pro" on this subject then you have already admitted that the Simon Necronomicon IS connected to the work of H.P. Lovecraft. Yeah that sounds like a good idea. This way we can see how far back into antiquity the Necronomicon Tradition really goes. Talk to you on the 17th.
P.S. High Priest Venger Satanis. can you kindly email me the call-in number? I think we all need this discussion. I will announce it on my blog page

I will announce it on my blog page I know that Mr. King has no need for me to speak for him, but he was suggesting that this would be an example of a resolution you would present to him, thus "I'm pro" would be your position.
I am looking forward to see how all this goes down.

Ego Diabolus Priest of R'lyeh Cult of Cthulhu He actually read me correctly, as I hold to the position that the Simonomicon is dependent on the Lovecraft Mythos, even to the point of saying that it is a sine qua non of the former's very existence. Obviously, it is dependent on other things as well (the Enuma Elish springs to mind, as do Goetic and GD Rose-Cross sigils), but odds are, Levenda, Barnes & Co. wouldn't have put it out there as a bald Mesopotamian grimoire. They needed Lovecraft. On a further note, I am very pleased that we've gotten the propositional details out of the way. I'll contact Beast Xeno to get a firm outline for the exchange parameters, which may be limited to either a single rebuttal or 5 minute openings given the single hour format of The Ooze. To WA, you can find the call-in number posted on the BTR page, though I'm not sure if it changes week to week. If so, you might have to check the site an hour or so before the show to get it. JK

This will then make the debate that much more interesting, although it appears that WA agrees with you on this point.

Ego Diabolus Priest of R'lyeh Cult of Cthulhu I personally think he's going for a "nuanced" approach. He sees a "Necronomicon Tradition" independent of Lovecraft, and perhaps presaging and influencing him. I can only assume the strongest possible position for my opponent. This shit is gonna be good . . .

First of all I would like to personally thank the CoC, High Priest Venger Satanis, The Priesthood of CoC, as well as, congratulate them for making occult history. This is the first occult organization to sponsor a debate about the Simon Necronomicon, wherein the debators are not said "active members" of the CoC. I am very impressed by this to say the least and I am sure that we will all grow from this. Although, I have had an exchange of words with Mr. King, members of the CoC, and etc, it is all useful at times for us to remember why we are here. All of us are working with methods that help us to evolve however different they may be. As far as the debate is concerned I will reveal some things about the origin of the Simon Necronomicon that Simon could never reveal with evidence. So this should be a step in the better direction. I hope that Mister Jason 666 King is prepared for the unknowable Stay Blessed!
