After listening to The Ooze talk radio show this Saturday 26 Dec about Spheres of Influence via On Demand Episodes, it reminded me of how much we are actually influenced by people in general.
What I mean by this is until we start to become 'awaken', how much of our thoughts and thinking are actually our own? Given the fact that we go through the process of socialization, from the moment of birth and on through early childhood to peer pressure at school and education, religion, work, friends and the wider community etc.
Furthermore, on top of that you have the mass media through its various forms of outlet influencing us.
I am not arguing here whether any of the above is a good or bad thing. Only I am asking people how much of what they do or did; or how you act or acted; and how you think or thought is actually of your own doing?

Television influenced ninety percent of my personality and my mom influenced the rest. Mainly, I was bound and determined NOT to be what my mom wanted me to be..lol The series Dark Shadows gave me a love of all things gothic before it was even called that. It's what sparked my intense interest in witchcraft and the bizzare. I found out that I have a natural affinity for the black arts. When the stars are right!

And here I thought yesterday's show was our most lackluster. Ha!
Thank you, Khiron666, I enjoyed your feedback. What's more, I agree with you. How much of us is actually essence compared to the personality? Would you say that personality has a gravitational force which just pulls in influence from peripheral sources? Isn't that why creating a magnetic center within our self is so important? Once suitable "I"s organize and start working together, they may attract more C Influences which can help us to Awaken.
There are cycles for everything, most cycles are universal, natural, unhelpful... however, once in a veridian moon we can adhere to a beneficial cycle. Take the time to observe which is which before acting. What spheres of influence or negative cycles are we already immersed in? How can we work our way free?

Thank you to Sarak G'hash and Lord Satanis for replying. To answer Lord Satanis's question I would say yes. To cut a long story short: I have been interested in the Occult for about 14 years. From an early age though I always thought that there was more to this world than met the eye, but was unable to understand what it was or even what questions I should ask. Then like I said we are forever going through the socialization process, until something happens and makes us jump of the merry-go-round. Some people wise up to this situation through their own discernment. However, most of us usually, only start asking the really big questions about our life and the world we live in and all what that entails. When we have suffered a major crises or trauma in our lives, such as: some one close to us dies, a serious accident, mugging, illness etc. For myself I am an ex-soldier of the British Armed Forces and was in the Falklands War (1982), because of this experience I suffered PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) which is really just a umbrella term for a hole gamut of physical and mental health problems. Plus if there are other issues from or in your life you have not dealt with then they become part of the problem as-well. Moreover, it was not until 1995 that I sought professional help. By then my life had completely spiraled out of control. So with that said, It is about 14 years since I became conscious or awakened to the so called "reality we live in". And a realization that I wanted as little interaction as possible, with those that hold to the popularly accepted world view. Though I am aware that there are times when I do need to interact with the world. This can not be avoided. But at least I think I am in more control of what passes through my senses. So much so I re-educated myself. ia ia Cthulhu fhatgn!
