I just listened to the radio/interview Venger had with another person where Venger spoke about the 4th way, the cult of cthulhu and so forth.
About a quarter way through the interview the host said this:
'One of the things, going through and actually reading about Jerdoff way of the 4th way that stuck in mind and I'm curious to know if its different in the teachings of the Cult of Cthulhu. Gerdoff thought that the fourth way involved certain conditions being imposed upon the student by the master. But he did not encourage it to be blindly acepted; they were to only do the things that they understood and needed to verify that these conditions existed before they allowed the imposing of them onto themselves.'
Then Venger says that that would be intentional suffering; unconscious suffering. He also states that everybody suffers and that that is the way the world is. Venger also states that according to Gerdoff, were in a pretty shitty situation in the universe on a grand cosmic scale and that were destined to live our lives through hardship, suffering and ignorance and eventually die with nothing to look forward to afterwards.
I did not fully understand the host's sentence stated above before I stated what you said. When he said this:
Gerdoff thought that the fourth way involved certain conditions being imposed upon the student by the master. But he did not encourage it to be blindly acepted; they were to only do the things that they understood and needed to verify that these conditions existed before they allowed the imposing of them onto themselves.
When he says 'they were to only do the things they understood and needed to verify that these conditions existed before they allowed the the imposing of them onto themselves.'
Does he not mean that the conditions should be imposed on themselves BY the master instead of the conditions coming from the students since he mentions above that the conditions are imposed by the master himself not the student. Can anyone explain this to me?
What does he mean? Also, What kind of conditions is he refering to when he said that?
Also what does that have to do with intentional suffering? I can't see the relationship between the two. Can anyone please clarify this for me? Id appreciate it alot
Let me know,
Peace,
