as soon as i saw the cover, turned it over, and read the back... i knew. it was old. it was about the occult. it had an understated yet profound quality. yes, this was going to be a real trip!
i was not disappointed. Simon, King of the Witches. rent this movie or buy the DVD. not the best or flashiest, but it's powerful; substantial. Simon is, more or less, what a real magician is all about. my guess is that this movie influenced the authors of the Simon Necronomicon to collectively name the editor Simon. if you've seen Dean Stockwell in The Dunwich Horror, then you have a vague idea of Simon's presence.
how this cult classic eluded me all these years, i have no idea. the lesser gods playing their tricks again? perhaps...

If only I could rent it where I live...it sounds brilliant!

Was it as good as 'The Prince of Darkness' ? [nudge, nudge] I'll have to check this out. I just finished listening to the Dunwich Horror on audio, I'll have to get the movie now, and add this to my list while I'm at it.
