It amazes me how few people realize what is "going on behind the curtain" in America today.

America is currently run by a "rich elite" that have found a way to legally rob the public. While this may come as no suprise, once you realize the extent to which they are doing it, you will be suprised.

For example, did you know 40% of every dollar congress controls goes to private contractors in the War? This means either one of two things:
For those contractors who had a congressional bidding, they are the cheapest contractors, who are doing the lowest quality jobs possible.
For those contractors who had NO congressional hearings, but where merely granted funds "under the table" they are performing ridiculous practices, like charging $100 for a load of laundry that could be done for 3 bucks... that's just the beggining. They're also being hired to do the jobs the army should be doing, but charging more and doing a worse job.


Then you have the US government's old policy of crushing any nation that doesn't support them, including democratic governments. The US gov set up MANY dictatorships and wiped out many democracies, all so they could strike deals with the rich elite they put into power. Nowadays, they don't do that... instead they set up "democracies", which is complete bullshit. By democracy they mean "set up two officials paid off by the US, and whoever wins it doesn't matter because the policy the US wants will be the same".
Yes, the US has actually wiped out democracy, funded dictatorships that supported genocide, and fucked over countless people.

For those of you who "don't care" or "don't give a shit" I'm guessing you're either too young to pay taxes, or still not old enough to be effected by a lot of the laws that are fucking you over, or will fuck you over when they take effect. Mostly tax laws, but then there are also a lot of personal and private freedoms at stake.

Keep in mind that this is YOUR money the government is just taking and giving to the rich... Do you really want YOUR MONEY given to some rich fat cat, when it SHOULD be going back to you in the form of public benefits? If you don't care, then I can give you a mailing address and you can send me some of your extra cash.

Because I don't want to come across as a conspiracy theorists, I'm going to cite two documentaries anyone can look up on youtube:

The first deals with how the private contractors are robbing the public by using "The War in Iraq".

...Again for those of you who "don't give a shit" remember, they're your taxes, your jobs, and your freedoms. If you're going to play the whole "I'm too dark and evil to care" well, I'm sure you at least care about yourself and your money, and these issues effect them both.

And please, at least watch the videos before you criticize me of being a hippy (I'm not) or a conspiracy nut. If you don't want to, then fine, but don't start flaming or leaving any derogatory commets if you haven't even watched the films.

Thats very interesting baphomet! And I agree that one should look to ones own interests when it comes to politics. And one shouldnt be afraid of cooperating with other people who are in the same kind of situation as one self and who therefore might share the same interests.

By interests I mean economic interests. If you own a large corporation (and I dont mean owning a few stock) you'll want laws that let you sack people whenever you feel like it, taxes on the working citizens, public spending on government purchases of expensive equipment from your corporation (which often means military equipment, and what better way to further those purchases than a war or two?), etc, etc. If you own a small company you might share some of those interests, but you likely need public spending on pensions, health care, education, etc. If your dont hire others but instead work for others youll likely want laws that give you at least some basic rights at the workplace, taxes on wealth instead of your wage, and public spending on common needs such as education, health care, pensions. The first group, the small elite controling the major chunk of our wealth, has got the advantage now at the expense of the rest.

This is not a matter of hippy liberalism. Its just that the small, but wealthy and powerful elite are using their resources (private media, funding of election campaigns, etc) to further their interests. Why should we, the majority, not use our resources (organizing in trade unions, striking, voting for the candidates that further our economic interests)?

it's amazing how little people seem to care about the politics going on in america but then really thats how the system is set up to alienate the general public and benefit the few i.e. the rich. and it reminds me of a recent post on the state of humanity in the face of injustice: what can we do? how can we do anything to change it or stop it? it seems hopeless but i think the best thing most of us can do is to just Think. Think about it. question whats going on with your goverment, who's benefiting wheres the money go?

It's a complex problem. Part of the problem is socio-biology, part is cultural programming. For thousands of years, most people were pesants, the "sheep" of society.

As naked apes, people have an instinctive reaction to someone who is tall and strong. Most people are "beta" personalities, they want to be "led" by an "alpha". This is very similar to the way a pack of wolves interacts, the strongest is the leader and the majority is happy with that.

The "common man" doesn't think much or very far ahead. They are easily led, as long as their bellys are full and they are entertained. For the majority of "civilized" history, priest-kings have been in charge. I don't see the pattern changing any time soon.

Most people don't have the interest, time or mental ability to study Magick. There has always been a small minority into the "occult". For the average perosn, it would be like trying to run Windows XP on a 286 chipset.

It is easy to become wealthy using "low magic", but it does take work ( I worked a 70 hour week for a year to pay off my first business). I have found it easier to change reality by focusing on the area no-one is paying attention to, to avoid the inertia imposed by mass belief. It is also easier to achieve the results I'm looking for if no-one else is "magically active" in my near vicinity, so I do not encourage others to become so. Also, I've had some bad results when I've taught people some of my techniques, they either become unstable, or start "abusing" the abilities they develop, so now I just point out the "4th Way" and let them go from there.

In conclusion, I agree that the current economic model the world is working under is doomed, and that the majority of people have no idea. Most people don't even know what "money" really is. To quote Jcarvingblock, "Money is a means of communication which allows people to exchange goods and services by proxy." Money is NOT gold, silver, beads, or cocoa beans, though all have been used as money at one time or another.
