So, where does the Necronomicon fit into all of this COC stuff?

Answer: The necronomicon was invented by Lovecraft. As was Cthulhu.
Wow. This thread didn't last long at all.

some Lovecraft/Mythos devotees use the Necronomicon edited by Simon. others use various versions of the Necronomicon.
if Lovecraft made the Necronomicon up, then there is no "real" Necronomicon, unless the magician creates or finds his own in the astral plane. if Lovecraft didn't make it up, then perhaps it's based on an authentic book which scholars have never found...
as of now, the Cult of Cthulhu has its own bible, Cthulhu Cult. one could say that this book is our Necronomicon.

Indeed, so if the whole thing is made up, and the members of this "Organization" admit it's just all made up then whats the point? To sell the admins 168 page book? Hmmm.......... oh well, yet another sideshow for the masses I guess.

i think you're jumping the gun there, hoss. just because ideas were put forth by a man (as all ideas are), that doesn't make them false, invalid, or lies.
we said the mainstream paperback (same thing as the hard to get leatherbound edition) Necronomicon was not the real book that Lovecraft wrote about.
just because HPL invented the Cthulhu Mythos doesn't mean it isn't "real" or extremely powerful and dangerous. many magicians before us have used this eldritch current in their diabolic sorcery. it is a mage's belief which gives ideas their strength.
and another thing... this organization is definitely NOT for the masses. they could never handle our truth.

Perhaps "X" needs to read up on Chaos Magick.

I killed a man today.
In truth, I have NOT killed a man today. But if I tell people I did, does that mean I did or did not? Depends on what people believe.
Lovecraft SAID his works were fiction. But were they really fiction? Perhaps, or perhaps not. Depending on what people believe.

Fair enough, but one does have to ask if this whole system is indeed not made up and is based upon facts then why get annoyed over poor book reveiws? why not just use this "Chaos Magic/mythos" to destroy those who whould slander/oppose you? Is it a case or moral obstical that keeps you from doing this? Or simply the fact that you truely cannot make it work?

i will try to explain.
while i do not believe any of this is "real", at the same time i cannot totally divorce myself from the world. the annoying part of that review was Dan Harms' constant attempts to attack me. i find him more annoying than his silly "review".
as a matter of fact, he's been cursed long ago. no, there's isn't a code of morality stopping me from destroying those who oppose me. of course, the magician must respect the magic. while the mage or Cultist commands dark forces, he is not their only master. in sorcery, there are factors at work which many cannot understand.
for instance, though Dan Harms is not dead at this time, he is doomed to live his own pathetic life. perhaps that is punishment enough? additionally, the Old Ones might be forcing him to make waves against me in order to create "good press" as there is no such thing as bad press. while those are my speculations, i don't pretend to know all the inner workings and fine details of this universe and beyond.
