[glow=red,2,300]REPTILICUS[/glow]This is the best danish "Godzilla style" film that was ever made, it was also the ONLY danish "Godzilla style" film that was ever made, but that just makes the old film project that much more interesting (in my view). Its obviously funny looking and it even was back then in 1961 when it was made, but for a real fan of the genre it is a precious gem. I havent seen it in years, but i am gonna buy it sometime soon. I found these clips on youtube. Trailer (1:57min):UHYRET FLYVER! (The beast is FLYING!) (0:56min):And last but not least the scene with Denmarks old comedy hero Dirch Passer where he sings a song about Reptilicus to the children. He was so popular for his comedy roles before he died that i dont think anybody in Denmark could imagine him being in a film without singing a song or doing something funny, its a pretty creepy song though. I believe this scene was removed from the international versions of the movie, i have heard that the film was recorded on Danish, Dutch and English. The song clip with Dirch Passer (2:13):[glow=red,2,300] Behold! The lord of Copenhagen! Reptilicus![/glow]

Actually, not many movies are made here, so the phenomena with a movie being the sole representant for a whole genre is widespread. Espeacially in the horror genre. To my memory and knowledge (i could be horribly wrong, but im pretty sure im right) there is only one danish vampire movie ever made. At least i can only think of one ever being made. [glow=red,2,300] NATTENS ENGEL[/glow](Angel og The Night). Its a horror/comedy crossover with a lean to the horror side. I remember one thing i really like about the movie. There is a scene in the beginning where a monk/priest (or something) meets a talking, ancient, humansize and bloodthirsty vampire bat. Its great. Aside from that the movie aint that great, i mean its ok, but its nothing like a masterpiece like [glow=red,2,300] Dracula[/glow] from 1992

Yeah, really. Just look at Germany, they've been spitting out cool horror movies since....forever. EDIT: Well actually we are picking up on the big movie productions. I cant imagine it will be too long before we have some big horror movies out. Unfortunately, what we lack is originality. One would think that it would be possible to create something original and unique, seeing how we are a small and strange country with a funny language. But it always ends up looking like a bad copy of some of the popular international movies. For instance, due to the succes of the Lord of the Rings and the Harry Potter movies, there has now been made a Danish movie called [glow=red,2,300] DE FORTABTE SJÆLES Ø[/glow] The Island of Lost Souls (In danish the word "island" is spelled with the single letter Ø). That movie is said to be the most expensive and big productioned one ever made in Denmark (and it is ALSO the sole representant for an entire genre), i havent seen it yet, but i am fairly sure that it is just the Danish answer to the "Potter" and "Rings" films. Not saying that it is not a good movie, i just crave something more inspirational from my favorite movies. Kim Jong Il of North Korea actually instructed a North Korean version of the popular Japanese Godzilla movie back when he was a bigshot movie maker. He kidnapped a married couple from Japan once. A popular actress and her producer husband as far as i remember. He kidnapped them because he was jealous of Japans movie succes. The couple made an escape several years later and lived to talk about the story. I saw it in a documentary. You can read about [glow=red,2,300]PULGASARI[/glow] (the North Korean Godzilla) here: www.stomptokyo.com/scott/yongary/movies/pulgasari/pulgasari.html

You can buy Reptilicus on DVD in most danish music/movie stores. I saw it in Fona2000 in Copenhagen two weeks ago. If you live in the Capital, you should be able to find it. Du kan også købe den her: www.dvdcity.dk/Yes. Yes they do. ;D I am currently watching a Godzilla boxset i bought, i love Godzilla.
