Anyone else excited about the new Saw movie coming out?
I personally, have always loved the Saw movies. Not because of the gore, but because of the central message of it all, appreciating and enjoying the flesh.
People can become so pessimistic, and in a way, we are responsible for many of the negative things that happen to us. In our secret hearts many of us create a reality that can only be described as masochistical.
I loved the irony of the traps that jigsaw made, forcing people to confront their own inner demons. I think this world would be a lot better if we all had to go through such traps that made us really question our views on life and how much we want to live.
"Those who do not appreciate life, do not deserve to live." Amen to that. I'm quite sick of the ever popular growing "emo" movement that seems to glorify sorrow and depression. We get one life, and we had better make the most of it.
To me, Saw was a movie about confronting the darker parts of your mind. It also incorporated ideas about how we bring about our own downfalls. Another aspect I liked about the Films was the idea of the survival instinct. People constantly whine about life, so you have to wonder how much it really means to them.
Think about it. If you had one day to live, hell, one hour, wouldn't life suddenly become something, well, amazing? I think Saw did a pretty good job with depicting human morality under stress mixed with the survival instinct, as well as introducing concepts such as the worth of life and Mankind's own twisted tendancies.
