I'm assuming most of you in this forum have seen the Pirates of the Carribean movies. It seems to me that the charecter of Davey Jones is based heavily on Cthulhu. Why do you think that is guys? Is there a hidden Occult meaning behind it? Disney do get a badrap from hard line Christians who claim in their ignorance they are "evil" and "satanic". Anyways as a fellow LHP I wanted to get some views on the subject from those more submersed in this cult than I. I'm am new here after all

[teal]I would say that inspiration was taken from Lovecraftian sources for the character design in the films.
Davy Jones himself however has been a part of sailors folklore for centuries, and is probably biblical in origin.[/teal]

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Davy_Jones'_Locker It's merely an idiom for a sailor who has drowned at sea and his body is returned to Davey Jones like pagans will say their body has returned to the earth mother at death. I think it is clear at least to me that the idea of the squid tentacle face and that if Cthulhu is too similar for the Lovecraft Cthulhu not to have had. Big influence, after all he is so well known
