Hi all, I registered here just yesterday and I thought I'd ask you a few questions about the Cult of Cthulu. The people here and the whole Cthulu Mythos are very fascinating and that's why I'm so keen on asking these things.
1. What is the agenda of CoC? Is there a specific backbone philosophy behind the cult?
2. This might be an odd one, but do you believe in Cthulhu (and/or possibly other Old Ones) as a physical being?
3. I've understood that CoC isn't quite a H.P. Lovecraft fan club. How much cultists in today's world have in common with the cultists in Lovecraft's novels?
To summarize my questions in one sentence, I'm interested in hearing about if you really believe that Cthulhu will rise someday or if the cult is more about a specific view of lives, philosophy etc. Of course people are different, but what does the vast majority think?
I apologize beforehand if my questions are seen as rude or stupid, I've heard many things about Cthulhu cultists and I'd love to hear something from You people so I could know about this things more and clear some misunderstandings from the other people as well.
Thanks in advance,
Perkele

[teal]Awakening, enlightenment, through superhuman efforts. The creation of a global Theocracy of Awakened practitioners.[/teal]
[teal]Yes. Also, as a non-physical being. Also as a non-being. Belief can have many layers.[/teal]
[teal]My practice is based quite heavily on the writings of H.P. Lovecraft, that said, the work takes precedent over the Mythology. There is very little description of the cultists and their practices in Lovecraft's works, I like to think that we are similar enough, depending on the practitioner.[/teal]

In my opinion, the cult's position on any belief is that's it's a good idea to examine it and understand why you believe what you do. That's more important than any specific belief.

Thanks in advance, Perkele 1. Our reason for being: the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Unfortunately, truth cannot be known until one is Awake.
2. Belief is a slippery and subjective thing. Some Cultists believe one thing, others believe something entirely different.
3. It depends.
The majority are Left Hand Path practitioners using Fourth Way techniques to bring the Great Old Ones through the gate and into this world.
