To make one's soul monstrous: To become a piece which cannot be made to fit in the cosmic puzzle. To become an anomaly whose alien presence destabilizes the foundations of the universe, a Breaker-in-Pieces which shatters the tablets of the law, an anarchic antichrist who breaks this wine-bottle world to liberate the (un)holy spirits contained therein.

What is the soul? In a Fourth Way context, you can spend your entire life building it. Gurdjieff spoke about it often, it takes conscious effort to build yourself, and extract your essence for some use, some meaning, or just 'be'. Sounds simple right? Being, I mean. There's so many ways that you can be, but we are often just being what we are. Little machines.
In the case of making it monstrous, what does it really mean to be the monster?
In making it monstrous, its a piece that doesn't quite fit in the cosmic scheme of things, but in 'reality' each of us could be considered a piece in a puzzle.
Who's putting it together, that's the question isn't it?
In becoming 'alien' to the foundations of the universe, it seems to imply that you have to find a way to operate outside of natural laws. Perhaps even our 'natural' way of being.
To use another analogy comparable to that of the wine bottle and its spirits, it would be like finding a new way to 'see' the world. Like Nero gazing through Lucifer's lens.
If we are slaves in a system, its finding a way outside of the system but not being completely foreign to it.
There's a level of familiarity that's required to even recognize yourself, otherwise you'd become so lost, that no crystallization of self could ever occur. I mean, you can break the bottle and the spirits fly out and spill all over the place. How is that useful? Needful?
Wouldn't it be best to just pop the cork and pour it out into a form like a glass?
Hmmmm something to consider.

From a Gnostic perspective(and the one that appears to be put forth in parts of Cthulhu Cult), the parties responsible for putting together the pieces of the world are currently the Lesser Gods(or demiurge). And the goal of the aspirant would be to break the control of the Lesser Gods(breaking reality as we know it in the process)-That the Elder Gods(and we, as their descendants and embodiments) might Awaken.
"If we are slaves in a system, its finding a way outside of the system but not being completely foreign to it."
By this analogy, ideally I would think that one would break the system and end slavery, or barring that become as foreign to the enslaving system as possible.
"There's a level of familiarity that's required to even recognize yourself, otherwise you'd become so lost, that no crystallization of self could ever occur"
From a Gnostic perspective, we are already lost, and fail to recognize ourselves-Hence the mechanical nature of our existence, to use a motif which I believe is also perhaps used in the Fourth Way.

I want to make sure I understand your meaning here.
Isn't the goal of Gnostic thought, to live by the knowledge of truth?
In this case, we could say that the Lesser gods represent the building blocks of all of the influences and experiences that construct our being. It would take a demiurge to disrupt that system to create a change in the flow of how our beings are designed.
Is the demiurge putting the puzzle together, or is it the Lesser gods? I would think that in order for each being to awaken from the slumber of the weight upon him, it would take something to make him realize that he sleeps.
By the way this reads, you are stating that the demiurge and Lesser gods are one in the same. Is that right?
The Elder gods, would be that which is buried, correct?
Following this same chain of thought. The system could represent the toiling of the Lesser gods, which keep the Elder gods enslaved. If we are not somewhat familiar with it, we could easily fall subject to the same trap, yes?
Yes, it is similar. We agree then, we are already buried, sleeping, and need to shake things up to start the awakening process. The trick then, is figuring out when you are actually piling on more weight, and when you are actually starting to claw your way out, eh?

From en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demiurge:"Gnosticism presents a distinction between the highest, unknowable God and the demiurgic “creator” of the material. Several systems of Gnostic thought present the Demiurge as antagonistic to the will of the Supreme Being: his act of creation occurs in unconscious semblance of the divine model, and thus is fundamentally flawed, or else is formed with the malevolent intention of entrapping aspects of the divine in materiality." This is the sense of the Demiurge of which I speak: The Demiurge is who entraps us, the universe is that which entraps us. The following passage from Cthulhu Cult would seem to be harmonious with this perspective(page 49): "What is Generally Accepted Reality? One dull, plastic facade piled onto another and another ad another...This is the entire universe for most of us. The Godlike potential residing deep withing all human beings threatens the universe, threatens the natural order. Therefore, we are trapped inside the shadow of a near impregnable conspiracy. Human beings (as all living matter) were created to nourish this wretched universe. Generally Accepted Reality is the illusion that masks our prison."" Hail Satanis! Cort

Indeed-Acquiring knowledge of that which ones wishes to subvert is key to effective subversion. Another potential trap would be undo attachment to said system.

Yes. In the context of Gnosticism, this process is sometimes described as Remembrance-Acquiring knowledge, or Gnosis, of an existence which is utterly alien to Generally Accepted Reality.
To quote from "The Gnostic Religion" by Hans Jonas regarding the teachings of one Simon Magus: "A rebellion against this world and its god in the name of absolute spiritual freedom."
