When does a realist become an idealist? When does a idealist become an realist? Is it possible at all, just to become one and not the other?

Thanks Venger!
Every time Romney speaks, nothing but pure garbage comes out. Most of my family is voting for him & it makes me wanna tear my hair out!

VS,
I am confused to why you feel that video is a vindication? Could you explain please.
Reason why am saying this is due to he and the Republican party are Playing The King and I feel the Democrats are just reacting and adapting.
What was stated in the video makes perfect strategical sense in that you only need to appeal to those 10-15% swing vote in the middle by appealing to their common sense.
This is used in my country as well as I am sure it is also used in other countries.
I see politics from the view point of to Play The King/The Prince/The 48 Laws of Powers/Game Theory/International defense and the Republicans are doing a excellent job of Playing The King.

Most of my family is voting for him & it makes me wanna tear my hair out! Why is everyone blaming Romney for what is coming out of his mouth? Aren't there other factors to consider? eg, speech writers, camping advisers, republican party members and etc.

The best Romney disasters occur when he speaks with out a script. That is when we see the true Romney. There are tons of videos you can peruse online of Romney. Watch 50 of them...just 50(Good & Bad) & you'll know whether you should support this tyrant scum bag. He is an enemy of... life it's self.

The video was disabled. I found this one, I found rather interesting.
He does make a valid point, in that people don't want to be proven 'wrong'. Shift language a bit, and voters tend to agree with Romney when discussing policy vs. Obama.
"This President won because of 'Hope' and 'Change'..."
Another fine point. People are often won over by the sentiment, vs. reviewing policy in a more intellectual manner. Does this mean that Romney has all the right ideas and correct course of action when reviewing policies? Not 100% of the time, no. However, I believe that we should be addressing the policies and their workability vs. catchy phrases and advertising.

I'd largely agree with your point-I think too often people on all sides of the political spectrum often have a tendency to vote based on rhetorical flourish or ill-defined "gut feelings" rather than a considered analysis of the issues at hand and the positions each candidate presents regarding them.

This secretly recorded speech is widely regarded to be the final nail in the coffin of Romney's Presidential bid. Obama is at least 5 points ahead of Romney. I received dozens of comments on youtube about how similar both candidates were to each other - that their cores and ways of expressing themselves were virtually identical. Well, that's demonstrably not true, as this video proves.
I agree that a lot of what he said makes sense, but the way he paints 47% of Americans as victims, dependents, without personal responsibility, etc. is too much. LaVey said that 9 parts social respectability to one part outrage is the ideal ratio (someone correct me if I have this wrong), but Romney went too deep into outrageous territory - even for the Republican base; yet Fox News is still defending him and his position, for the most part.
The fact that Romney is trying to back his way out of this scandal instead of doubling down on Ayn Randian social darwinism only proves his political cowardice. At the end of the day, only Romney himself can be blamed for what comes out of his mouth. He could point to campaign chiefs, handlers, and script writers, but Romney has to take most of the heat. He's the Presidential nominee.

Accuracy isn't as important as sentiment in this case. I think Romney was careless, and widely unaware of how much his statements impact how his moral character would be viewed. It matters little, how accurate his percentages are. The statement and intentionality behind it was to assert that a little less than half the population rely on the government far too much, rather than being autonomous. I tend to agree with him. It doesn't mean that this will win him the election, and this is the problem with American politics overall.
I do think that Obama's approach is far more diplomatic in lieu of harsh truths. I also think he has a better grasp of why a certain percentage of Americans don't pay income tax. This wasn't the whole of Romney's statement. He only addresses the income tax aspect.
My stance on Romney is that he's an astute business man, but a terrible politician. The fact of the matter is there are far more people that fall in the poverty income bracket, and those votes will count in the end against Romney.
I'm fairly certain at this juncture that Obama would beat him out on that premise alone.
Those people that see the problems with policy, too much co-dependency on government assistance and a better way to carry the dead weight will still vote for Romney, even if they do think he's an asshole.

Before I put my foot in my mouth.
Can someone please give me a clarification of Federal Income Tax and Payroll Tax as I thought Payroll Tax was a sub-tax of Federal Income Tax and in NZ everyone pays income tax, so this will true of USA citizens that everyone pays income tax whether it be Federal Income tax or payroll tax minus the students, unemployed, disabled and etc....as we non USA interpret statements like this as only a few USA citizens pay income tax.

My understanding is:- Two taxes
1) Payroll tax, eg, Pay As You Earn, which we also have in NZ 2) Federal Income Tax eg, retirement fund/pension (in NZ re have KiwiSaver)
am I on the right path? and this is what part of the Federal Income Tax squabble is all about or partly about?

I wont vote for Romney out of principle. That guy will say any & all things to get elected. He has no morals other than trying to fit in with the Mormon crowed(which I myself come from), & feel disgusted trying to imagine him as President. For me it's personal. No one like him should be President. Ever

Early voting has begun in a number of states. Hopefully, all U.S. citizens will take advantage of this.
For those who feel compelled to vote for some kind of 3rd party, I understand your frustration with our two party system. It's not ideal. However, now is absolutely not the time to possibly hand Mitt Romney the election. I firmly believe that a preferable 3rd party will evolve from the Republican/Tea party's destruction. Barack Obama needs every vote he can get.

So you really think that voting in a third party would just hand over the win to Romney? Obviously, whatever third party is added to the ballot will not win. People are too focused on Romney or Obama. It seems whacked to just vote for Obama because Romney is the worse choice of the two.
Sigh...
I suppose, the American people should be leaning towards Obama because of Romney's lack of skills for the presidency.
I hate this system!

I think not wanting the worse candidate might be reason enough for some would-be 3rd party voters to cast their ballot for President Obama. However, I personally think Obama is doing a fine job. Have been in his corner for years. I would rather have him continue his job instead of bringing some fringe noob in to replace him.
But, getting back to the original statement... yes, if it's as close as some of the polls say, then Romney has a chance of winning. Keep in mind that Republicans can and do steal elections. Voting machine irregularities are already expected in November. These things are usually closer than 5%. What's the average non Republican/Democrat voting percentage? 3 - 5% ?
A case can be made that voting for Nader or whoever the Green party candidate is isn't throwing your vote away, but it sure as hell isn't going to elect someone else. This race is going to elect either Barack Obama or Mitt Romney, and the latter is a call-to-arms for the 1%, the corporations, and the old white men who want minorities and women to get back to their rightful places, the fields and kitchens of America, respectively.
Enjoy Joss Whedon doing his thing. For those who don't know, Joss Whedon is responsible for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly and Serenity, The Cabin in the Woods, The Avengers, and numerous other tv shows / movies.

LMAO, I love this. I agree, he did a great job with it and made some solid points (while being entertaining to boot!).
Romney always sounds like he's planning a hostile take over of a small corporation to be assimilated into his 'small business plans'. They create jobs! He says... I swear, I don't know how this guy made any money at all. I can only conclude that he's an epic douchebag that keeps the 'other guy' under foot. I've been on the inside, the corporate wars are enough to make you want to gauge your own eyes out. What has been seen, can not be unseen.
Obama is great at campaigning ideas, and not bad in the diplomacy area but I'm not certain of this idea he has in his head that is basically a form of socialism. It could add to the problem (and deficit I might add) but it is giving the lower class citizens hope. What with stimulus checks in the mail, the idea of standardized medical, longer periods for unemployment and other social programs.
It's like Empire Strikes Back, by the time Vader goes down its right around the time that you start to sympathize with his struggles and vision for the empire.
No one likes to think about the little guy being told to suck it up and get out there in the trenches to earn your keep. They more or less sympathize with his sob story. Kind of like all those Americans that abuse the system and make up reasons to stay on disability and welfare. Never mind the people that actually need it, or what its intended to do.
I can see a lot of rationale in Romney's ideas but he's going about it badly. I'm tired of the lazy and mediocre American populace too. It doesn't mean I want them shoved into ovens, or labeled with a scarlet letter.
I don't know what the solution is at this point, because we are stuck with these candidates. You think Obama is doing a great job? I think he's done the best he can with what he's got to work with. It's just not good enough for real progress and change in this country. The idea of 4 more years of that, makes me gravely concerned for the next 4 years.
In other news, did you see the Trump video?
At this point, this whole 'Birther' conspiracy may or may not have some validity to it. It is rather suspicious and there's enough questionable material to investigate it. It's a bit too late, he's served his 4 years regardless if he's a natural born citizen or not. It's doubtful that it will have any real affect on the voters that want Obama in office next term.

"So whichever way you vote, you are asking for trouble, or would do, if the vote had any meaning.
