I'm here to see if Cult of Cthulu is compatible with my belief system. Also I want to see what the people in the LaVeyan chat room are talking about. I have not read anything of HP Lovecraft's but I have spent some time with Simon's "Necronomicon"-which I found to be ineffectual. I am interested in the philosophy side as well as the religious side. People talk shit about CoC in a lot of chat rooms. I also want to see what these people are so passionately intolerant about. But after watching Venger S. on youtube, I now have more questions and curiosities. I'm currently 35 years old, and I have been walking the path of Theistic Satanism since I was 13. So being a theist, when Cult of Cthulu comes up in conversation I find myself unable to intelligently participate in discussion. So really I'm here to see what this is about, take an objective look at the philosophy, and decide if this is a community I would like to be a part of. Attachments:

So being a theist, when Cult of Cthulu comes up in conversation I find myself unable to intelligently participate in discussion. So really I'm here to see what this is about, take an objective look at the philosophy, and decide if this is a community I would like to be a part of. There seems to be an inordinate amount of smack talk coming from certain quarters of the occult world, most notably Satanism. Perhaps that is because for many years, before hitching my wagon to the Cthulhu Mythos, I strongly identified as a Satanist. Anton LaVey and Michael Aquino were role-models for me, and their organizations influenced the Cult of Cthulhu.
But why the negativity from other groups, factions, and belief-systems? I don't know, except to say that fear of the unknown is a powerful force. In any case, I don't care what others are saying. Getting all twisted into personality conflicts, gossip, and the kind of drama that unfolds from reality television is exactly the stuff I wish to avoid.
This whole thing, our emerald religion, is like a gelatin molded into particular shapes by those who call themselves Cultists. That doesn't mean Cthulhuism (if we can call it that) can be just any old thing - there are parameters, set points, and guidelines with which to work. However, I believe there is more personal freedom here than most groups faithfully following the Left Hand Path.
One last thing, specific questions will have a better chance of yielding specific answers. Thank you for joining the CoC forum.

Here, Here! Venger I couldn't agree more. People used to ask me (in a very condescending manner) why I would associate with such retards, as if they understand what we have been going on about for years. All I can do is laugh. If they understood even a minute amount of the ideas we kick around here, they wouldn't ask just stupid questions in the first place.
Paying too much attention to the naysayers and paying lip-service to fools is at best an amusement for me. Some people play video games or role play to blow off steam. I have me a puppet show
