"The work is beneficial when you can see demonstrable results" Priestess CoraSahn- Prestess or R'lyeh
Gnosis is the key to magical abilities; altered state of consciousness. The achievement of an intense state of consciousness is the key to magical powers and is known by different names such as ain, samadhi, no mind, one-pointedness, or satori. This involves awareness being emptied of all data, a state of tabula-rata except the object/subject of concentration.
Simple as this might sound, it is one of the most difficult part of magic for a first timer magician: The ability to recognize when one is said to have attained Gnosis. Most often the first timer lacks the discipline of concentrating on the the object/subject instead of the source of ecstasy. Reaching Gnosis can result in experiences like encounters with powerful beings, demons, angels, gods, and even hurling sigils.
An adept uses this time to force the universe to confirm with (his/her) will. Many a time this natural way of creating beneficial changes can become a torn in the flesh of a cultist because of his/her inability to discipline himself and achieve it hence, man sometimes resort to technology for help in the form of drugs. Many of these drugs induces gnosis.
This altered state of consciousness may be achieved using various methods. Some of these methods are; Death posture ( different types) magical trance concentration, trance inducing drugs, sexual excitation, dancing, drumming, chanting, emotional arousal and many other forms. I will explain two of these methods based on experience.
Sexual Excitation: This is probably the most used method to first timer or new entrants into the world of magic and the most difficult. This is so because the first timer gets carried away by the excitement of sex and most time completely forgets the object/subject matter and is immensed in the act for the pleasure of it alone instead of achieving Gnosis. In this case (sexual excitation method) there has to be a transference from the lust or sexual act required to flame the sexuality to the object/subject of magical working at hand.
Somtimes in sigil magic to keep the cultist focused during sex both parties must be in the know of what the sex is for ( other than mere pleasure) this may require the posting of the glimph on the fore-head of the other party, so as to be concentrated upo during Gnosis, whichever way discipline is required.
The second method is the death posture or fake death. This is done to attain a state of clear mind or denial of thought stream. This consist of blocking the ears, nose, and mouth, and covering the eyes with either the hands or opaque clothing material. The breath and thoughts are held back until near unconsciousness involuntary breaks the posture. this requires discipline too.
This method is widely used among the priests of various gods in african culture. The yorubas of western Nigeria practice a lot of this form of attainning Gnosis assisted with drumming and dancing. The igbos in the eastern part of Nigeria, the priest, by standing erect after much incantations stare fixedly without breathing until the eyeballs bulge and then another voice completely take over and he brings down the anger or blessings of the all powerfull diety known as Amadioha.
Be that as it may, ones ability to silence the mind of all other thoughts at a particular time is the gateway to forcing willed change and achieving Gnosis.
Finally, it was H.P Lovecraft who said "The most merciful thing in the world, i think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all it's contents" to a large extent it is true. How the state of Gnosis act as a part way between the natural and supernatural is one act that the human being cannot understand. The question itself is like asking- why do the green stars have seeds-.

These techniques are good and useful to a point. But don't get stuck in using these techniques alone to charge sigils or spells. These are short-cut techniques of gnosis. They are given attention widely because it allows one a quick root into the deeper levels of consciousness. However as you have eluded to yourself they are not fail proof and the gnosis they produce is usually brief and shallow. techniques like these are to often used by people as the entirety of their mental training and exercise, however in doing so one is doing them self a great disservice.
These techniques give one insight into gnosis, however they do not allow for true control. They are no substitute for actual conscious control and knowledge of one's own internal environment. Which is to say that one can and should be able to achieve one pointed consciousness or no-pointed consciousness simply through insight and practice.
To give some example of what I mean I'll explain how this relates to the techniques you have mentioned, sexual excitation and death posture. In stead of sexual excitation one could have sexual relaxation(tantra). Through this one can create a significantly larger amount of energy for which to launch the sigil. You can also turn the actual sex into the gnosis rather then have it be a tool and distract you from the sigil.
In regards to the death posture it would mean that rather then "blocking the ears, nose, and mouth, and covering the eyes with either the hands or opaque cloth ...breath and thoughts are held back until near unconsciousness involuntarily breaks the posture", one can simply put their mind into a state of non-consciousness by simply knowing how to let go of the thought stream organically and enter a state of gnosis at will to a depth of ones choosing, or rather allowance.

Thank you shaz, a friend of mine calls tantra sexual frustration. Be that as it may i will try tantra and see what it holds for me. Though i agree with you in terms of energy to push, most often sexual excitation leaves little energy to hurl. But different strokes for the different folks.
How can one learn how to let go the thought stream?, it sounds difficult and should require a large amount of discipline and a VERY quiet enviroment with less or no distractions at all. But all the same your insight and contribution are well taken. Thank you.

Still expecting more reviews. That's awesome; be persistent. Sometimes that's the only way to spark activity.
However, there is another aspect available. Reply to other people's questions, statements, theories, and essays - either using your own post as a starting point or by whatever understanding you currently possess. There are literally hundreds of threads on these boards crying out for a reply. This is where the reactive (those waiting around for someone to act) meet the proactive (those who manifest action by utilizing unorthodox techniques and extraordinary measures).
Which will you be, brother?

However much like the great work it does not add to ordinary understanding. It takes a bit of practice but is well worth it to have meditative connection during intercourse, if not at least for the extended sessions of sex. To train the mind I've found the 4th way and Buddhist teaching the most applicable. One can find a multitude of techniques on google. Just find a way that works for you. GNOSIS

Post by sin on Apr 21, 2012 13:33:13 GMT -6
I achieve Gnosis through the processing of knowledge. It can be extrapolated at Will, but sometimes it takes a little deep exploring. I achieve this through Transcendentalism. As Oola commented, Trance culture is found all over the world but it began on the Continent of Africa.
I'm Afro-Centric, so I've studied many techniques found there, but I settled most with a diaspora found in the Mediterranean Basin. The term for my practice is called 'Ecstasia'. I've outlined the 'how' in a previous post, called "Dancing the Blind Idiot God" with the Cult tie-ins present.
The very primal and fundamental aspect is the BPM's emulate the heart beat. It can change levels of brain activity, to include raiding the tomb of the deep subconsciousness.
There are certain movements that throw the equilibrium off in such a way that it 'suspends' the normal parameters of consciousness. Depending on the contents of your brain, people claim to have deep experience with their divinities. Much like the Sufi Mystics discuss their experience with God. The most commonly known is the whirling dervishes. Some of my techniques are much like that. Except, women are traditionally more terrestrial, vs. men which are celestial. I trance closer to the ground, where men traditionally reach up; either by standing, jumping, or 'reaching' with their arms. Hours of this can seem like a flutter of a moment.
What 'Gnosis' actually *is* deals with profound and prolific Knowledge, this knowledge is not limited to what has been learned or experienced, but also levels of awareness. I discuss this a bit in my piece 'Polaris and the Flaming Pearl'. I used the flaming pearl, because it's common in Eastern philosophy. It's even present in Christianity, in that when you 'see' the pearl, you have achieved the level of knowing that is connected to God. In the Book of Genesis, when God creates man in the image of himself, this is merely an emanation.
This emanation concept is present in nearly every world religion. The longer the generation of emanation, the more it degrades. Man then, spends his whole life trying to get closer to God. Closer to that 'origin'.
In the context of the Mythos, the reason the cultists desire to be devoured by Cthulhu...The Old Ones, it as if you become so close that everything turns inside out. What was out is now in, and what is in is now out. It's often difficult to articulate these concepts in such a way that they will be understood and what I am attempting to convey.
When I write, I write in layers. It is then the devotion of my reader to find each layer to achieve their own Gnosis.

I've always said that Trance Rituals should be the primary ritual work for the cult.

[/quote] I like the site you recommended, right now i practice meditation but i find the recommendations on that site VERY VERY HELP FULL. However, i am normally skeptical about the bud dist way of doing things; it does not take anything away from the beauty of that site though. Like you said, i intend finding the way that best suits me, with advise from a 'guru' like you and others too. Very helpful indeed, thank you my Good friend; Respect! Awake!

Everyone's path to gnosis is different because one appeals more to one than the other. I'm here to say that no method/path to a gnostic state is wrong.Just as long as it produces result. I like psychedelics to reach my gnosis. But also use a combination of light depravation/hyper ventilation. Both work great but some work better than others when practicing rituals and sacred rites
