Do NOT use the spell called "Canticle of Cthulhu" or anything in the Black Tablet section as they are illegal. The first seven spells in the Red Tablet are an Invocation of the Goddess Akmarru and a Hymn to Destroy the fetters of a goddess. In the Book of Burnt Writings those seven spells is similar to Simonicon Gate-Walking but all you have to do is say the spells. For you Satanists out there, you can make a vengeance deal with Satan concerning your foes' physical health, asking him to punish them. This way you will be able to use the Key of Ashsavvat. The stronghold of the Keys of Ashsavvat lets you dip the minds of your enemies into the Void itself. Stay away from anything that I have not discussed as it needs more research.

I also have not heard of the Book of Dagon, and I thought I had read EVERYTHING in regard to Lovecraftian occultism. Please, enlighten us further, cocspy.

I'm not huge on the stereotypical ritual based sorcery, but this looks unlike anything I've come into contact with. I too am intrigued by this book of dagon, also, there truly (in my humble opinion) cannot be illegal magic, as its mostly of thought, not of physical actions themselves, and thought is the ultimate freedom.

The Book of Dagon is an ancient Assyrian text related to Lovecraftian Occultism. It has to do with the Cthulhu Cult and the Esoteric Order of Dagon as HP Lovecraft described them. It is said to be a cursed text and causes madness as a result of that detail. Here is a link to it: files.vsociety.net/data/library/Section%205%20(C,%20I,%20O,%20U)/Unknown/Unknown%20Album/Book%20of%20Dagon.pdf IA! IA! CTHULHU FHTAGN!

Just in the first few paragraphs there were many errors.
Those who wish to bring the Great Old Ones back to earth would do well to join the Cult of Cthulhu. We are the strongest and most progressive Lovecraftian religion.

Agreed. The book may have some useful data to extrapolate for personal paradigm use, but as I said its not an authentic ancient text.

I just had a look-through of it, and my very first -- and certainly lasting -- impression of it was that of a knock-off of the Simonomicon. Interesting to read, but certainly not worth any real time investment. But that's just me.

It is true that the Book of Dagon is filled with countless errors but it is useful for paradigm reasons. De Vermis Mysteriis is the same way. It chock-full of typos but it would be useful if you wanted to use snakes in your paradigm. Just like if someone would want to use fish in it your paradigm involving the Book of Dagon.

I've read bits and pieces about the E.O.D., but never really got a good feel for their magical paradigm. It's always a bit tricky with magical orders, it's hard to know whether the order in its current form bears much relation to the form it once took in years past-At one time, I think it had some fairly prominent occultists in its number, but I think that was many years ago. I did read an invocation of Dagon by Nicholaj Frisvold, an occult author who I am rather fond of, which I thought was rather good(and which may have been done in connection with the E.O.D., though I can't swear to this). Unfortunately, I think the website housing the ritual text went down some time ago.
