It was the Yuletide, that men call Christmas though they know in their hearts it is older than Bethlehem and Babylon, older than Memphis and mankind.
"The Festival"
Merry Christmas and Happy Yuletide!
Some Cultists observe this time of year with wrapping presents, mistletoe, Santa Claus, the winter solstice, basking in hideous cold flame, and probably numerous other weird traditions and customs. There's something deep in the heart of this season. A time to look inward.
As "A Christmas Carol" tells us, specifically the ghost of Jacob Marley, that we forge the chain which hinders us and weighs us down in life - link by link and yard by yard. Tis a ponderous chain! In other words, our actions can free or, more likely, further imprison us. Self-interest is key, but constantly acting out of selfishness alone effectively padlocks the door.
Our emotional center is but a vestige... a feeble expression of our higher emotional center. We cannot grasp the full extent of what is possible... thanks to the generosity of the Ancient Ones. Consider mankind for a moment, his struggle, his burden. Use this day or even the whole season as an opportunity to relieve the suffering of others, give to those who are in need, and change our mind about what the world is.
The Cult of Cthulhu's viridescent teaching is such a gift, a glimpse of objective reality. Give it. Rise above nature until it is beneath you.
Awake!

Indeed, and a great metaphor to serve as a reminder this time of year.
RISE!
