I have decided to start a new topic/forum regarding the reading and assimilation of new books and materials one must read and be well versed in and etc
The main purpose it to share tips and tricks on how to make the digestion of these mediums more palatable and digestable.
My tips so far is.
1) When getting a book, try to get the 1st Edition and the latest edition.
The first edition tends to be more of a rough diamond, the later editions tend to be more polished and some conclusions/outputs get totally turned when or ommited and also the beginning commentaries and introductions to the latter editions are always excellent to read.
2) Have more than 1 book on the go, especially if you are researching about a topic, eg, Ouspensky.
At the moment I have 3 of his books on the go
And a few books on Satan and his origins.
The reason for this is you don't get bored too easily and you get a feel for peoples different views and you can cross reference similar stuff via the different books by different authors.
3) Take notes sooner rather than later
4) Write down your musings especially if a certain senstance of paragraph etc inspires you and you come with new conclusions.
5) Try and remember how you felt when encountering the knowledge
6) If you need to stop reading, and close your eyes and just let your thoughts and musings drift away.
