Master Satanins, (Please listen as you read this post) How dare you!!! !!!BLASPHEMY!!! !!!You can't compare GREEN LANTERN to SUPEMAN via your weak link to superman via the colour green as if you know you comic books and the history of comic books...blah...blah...blah...and etc..etc...etc...then link it to your blasphemic group...how dare you!!! Jokes aside, thank you for this wonderful essay as it rings true due to a few things I have worked out myself. Taking any colour (GREEN) as an example, when one clears their blockages they can distinguish and differentiate the different hues of the (GREEN) colour and therefore understand the pattern and reverberations/vibrations of the colour (GREEN) and what those reverberations/vibrations mean or acts/does in turn and how those reverberations/vibrations feel. You can also interchange the word "colour" for certain words and terms to discover angles you have previously overlooked or discareded. This also can describe how super heroes get in tune with their "powers" which can easily be related to magick itself ie, substitute super powers for the word magic, consciousness, awareness etc etc etc. One can learn a lot from the comic books and movies as it is very similar at times to the path we choose to lead. Imagination and Belief is one of the most important foundations of HUMAN PROGRESS and is generally overlooked and frowned upon. How did Einstein and Issac come up with their ideas? A lot of Imagination and Belief!!! Then they went and proved that they Imagination and Belief is right. This is what people like me are taught and trained on to improve and continue improving on and also people in different paths than the COC practice this continuous practice from Shamanism, Buddisim, Qablah etc etc. Sums up perfectly what it means to "Conquer Fear" in all belief systems. I hope you have enjoyed all these free cookies I have been given you to chew on. Belief IS Reality Loki Dreaming ps:- The word "Imagination" switched to "Inspiration" and back to "Imagination on me while pondering on the line "Imagination" allows reality to be instructed. This isn't the first time words have done this to me. So I was wondering VS what you think of the word "Imagination switched/interchanged as "Inspiration" means. pss:- I have not seen the GREEN LANTERN due to me being very hesitant, but after your wonderful essay on based on it I am very eager to see it.

Ryan Reynolds is on my "least favorite actor" list, but some really like him. I see him being jealous of & in competition with other great actors like Ben Affleck lol. But he is entertaining & like Loki said, I'll take your word for it. Especially after seeing "Thor" which surprised me & then I found out Kenneth fucking Branagh directed it! I might not have seen Green Lantern but I'll give it a shot. I have been impressed with how far they(Hollywood)have been at least slightly interested in wanting an adult audience in regards to ratings. Thor's one of em along with the Herry Potter series. Digg!

If you wanted to swap out imagination (the positive sense) for visualization, then I think that's closer than inspiration. Although, inspiration is also valuable.
Thanks for the comments. I appreciate them and your posting on the webpage itself. www.cultofcthulhu.net/2011/06/green-is-the-color-of-will/Ryan Reynolds one of your least favorite actors? Why? I really hope you were kidding about Ben Affleck. He's got some chops, but then one has to take a look at Gigli... dear God no!!!
One more thing, please feel free to re-post this link around cyberspace. I'd like my essay to find as wide an audience as possible. Thanks in advance.

Ben Affleck was a bit much, it's just that Ryan is a fun hearted guy who you should stick to comedies & romance, even though I have seen him in one or two cool thrillers. All his flicks are entertaining & he usually steals the show but he just does not have that dark side that he keeps trying to exploit, he's to much of a good guy. I might be more critical of the writers or directors of his films who don't know how to make fun of some of ryans outrageous features ie unbelievable Greek God, body & top of the line wit. He's not your everyday Joe as much directors want him to be.
Remember when he took his shirt off in "Amityville", it ruined the movie! Everyone thought they were in a male strip joint lol. Ryan's cool but his movies need to be more tailored to him specifically. Do they mention in Green Lantern why he's in such good shape as a human? Things like that.
As for Gigli hahahaha!
May Cthulhu crush our enemies!

I hear where you're coming from. Well, Hal Jordan is a fighter pilot. He's also single, likes the ladies, and has a dark backstory which forces him to constantly prove himself. So, from my perspective, it makes sense that he'd be in great physical shape.
Ryan Reynolds might not have been my #1 pick, but his Green Lantern definitely didn't let me down.

I have been embracing fear lately. I feel like I'm in mortifying freefall when it occurs to me that whatever I am doing at the moment is a waste of my life. Still gonna watch Lantern. All the bootlegs suck and my dad wants to see it in theaters so I can't do it tonight...

All the bootlegs suck and my dad wants to see it in theaters so I can't do it tonight... I'd like to talk about that at some point regarding Green Lantern. However, don't want to spoil anything. Will post more about embracing fear next Monday. If I forget, then please remind me.

While we're using the emotional spectrum for comic book exegesis, look at Superman. Mostly red and blue with little bits of yellow- uneasy alliance between anger and hope with just a little fear showing through.

B. Did you read all of my essay where I actually mention Superman?
C. What are your thoughts on all three aspects of "Green is the Color of Will"... Green Lantern, Superman, and the Cthulhu Cult?

A. Bit of a comic book nerd here- in the Green Lantern comics they assign emotions to the whole rainbow. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emotional_spectrumB. Yep. That's why I used the example. I thought it showed the kind of conflict that actually drives Superman, without the balancing influence of will. C. I really liked your point about the use of green and how it can stir up a distinctly alien mood, especially in the shades the Cthulhu Cult uses... kinda like a chromatic Law of the Trapezoid. Being a Thelemite myself, I'd agree about the vital importance of will in the Great Work.

Although, if I had more time I might get back into reading some of the better books. Thanks for the info! BTW, was the Green Lantern mythos a consideration for your username?

Not gonna lie, now that I actually saw the movie, I was kind of bummed. That Parallax-infected professor/scientist "embracing his fears" actually seemed a great moment of diabolical victory over traditional morality. Patricide! How divine!

True, but 'embracing his fears' seemed to mean agreeing with all of the people who figured he was useless, and getting back at them. Accepting your unimportance isn't terribly diabolical, and neither is petty revenge.

I will admit my movie theater utterly sucked and I might have done just as well watching the illegally downloaded low-quality bootleg. So maybe I missed a lot of the psychological nuance...and dialogue...and special effects...

And the big head bad guy got destroyed by his Master. This is an example of "solid black Left Hand Path". All darkness all the time will eventually get you either killed or, if you're incredibly lucky, you'll have a lot of your own disciples' blood on your hands. This is why I recommend the yin/yang or moderate or third side LHP which is essentially 3 parts black to 1 part white.
Well said, Ophiuchus.
Just yesterday, I was thinking about a Mythos-based web comic. Yeah, feel free to talk to your friend, Cora'Sahn. Could be a really cool venture!
