Has anyone read any of Dunsany's work?
I only know him as being a heavy influence on Lovecraft's Dreamlands stories. And oddly, despite haunting dozens of used bookstore and libraries over the years, I've never had a reason to run into him or come across any book he's ever written. Although I've always been curious.
Does anyone have any good (or bad) to say about him so I might know if he's worth it?

Tales of wonder, the hashish eater and other tales, the gods of pegana (as previously mentioned) are all fine collections of short fiction. Also he wrote two fantasy novels, the Charwomans Shadow and The King of Elflands Daughter. In some of the the short stories you will certainly see the influence upon HPLs dream cycle. The novels are cool too--in these you will certainly see the influence they had upon mainstream fantasy. Ever read (or watch the movie) Star Dust by Neil Gaiman? Dunsanys name really really should have been mentioned. That stories is PURE Dunsany, beginning to end. Yes you did see the movie--Robert Deniro playing a gay pirate--hilarious and not in the book at all. Anyway, that fine Gaiman piece will surely give you an idea what the Lord Edward John Moreton Drax Plunkett the 18th Baron Dunsany's fantasy stories are like. He had a long full name. Most of the short stories are here www.sacred-texts.com/neu/dun/index.htm
