"symbolized by the squid or by the octopus"
" the god of the Underworld and a teacher of magic. Legends state that he became the leader of the first group of spirits "spit out" by the gods. In time, he led them in a rebellion in which the spirits were defeated by the gods and as punishment were thrown in the Underworld."
"However, depictions of Kanaloa as a god of evil, death, or the Underworld, in conflict with good deities...are likely the result of European missionary efforts to recast the four major divinities of Hawaiʻi in the image of the Christian Trinity plus Satan"
"The Eye of Kanaloa is an esoteric symbol associated with the god in New Age Huna teaching, consisting of a seven-pointed star surrounded by concentric circles that are regularly divided by eight lines radiating from the inner-most circle to the outer-most circle."
LOOKS LIKE I'M GOING TO HAWAII TO TALK TO THE MAORI LOOKS LIKE WE WORSHIP KANALOA JUST SAYIN

Forgiven. I'd also add that the likes of Kanaloa being primarily a god of peace and harmony, makes the connections with Cthulhu superficial at best. Tangaroa, on the other hand, is far more likely a connection. The Maori have always been a warrior race, and Cthulhu is the great Warlord of the Great Old Ones, as we know. Fearful reverance was offered to Tangaroa by the Maori, as the sea was a necessity of life, but also a great danger at the same time. I say "was" because as the Maori have greatly degenerated and are no longer the proud race they once were. I see it first hand weekly, daily, on the local news. They succumbed to the Christian Missionaries of a few centuries ago, and now their faith is waterted-down and adulterated Christianity known as Ratana.
I still place mighty Cthulhu apart from the modern gods of this Earth. All connections are pale reflections.

the eye seeing eye gave me a hell of a case of vertigo! i still say most of the stories and attributes surrounding a particular god are man-made and not to be trusted, it starts with a person either dreaming about, or maybe seeing, under meditation, drum beats, or the right chemicals, and they build on that. one persons heaven is anothers hell
