Before you read these, know that they're just MY way of pronouncing them. Others may say them differently
Deities: Yog-Sothoth: Exactly what it looks like Cthulhu: There's a bit of a debate as to how it's pronounced. Lovecraft himself says it's pronounced "Khlûl'-hloo," with thick, guttural syllables because it could never be uttered perfectly by human throats. Most people, though, pronounce it "Ka-thool-oo" Tsathoggua: Ignore the "t" in front of the "s," and you're good to go Shub-Niggurath: Exactly what it looks like Azathoth: Exactly what it looks like Nyarlathotep: Ny-are-la-hotep Dagon: Day-gone
Chants and phrases: Phn'glui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn: Fin-glue-ee mig-lew-en-off Cthulhu (in whichever way you chose to pronounce it) Rilyeh wagaw-noggle fa-tog-en Ia Ia Cthulhu fhtagn: Ee-ah Ee-ah Cthulhu (however you chose to pronounce it) fa-tog-en
I don't blame you. When I started reading Lovecraft, I couldn't pronounce that first chant I put up there very well. Actually, I couldn't pronounce it even before I started reading Lovecraft, having first seen it in a flash game when I was little. For the record, I'm not a Cultist (even though it says I'm a full member). I'm on my own Mythos path.
Ia Ia Cthulhu fhtagn! Ia! Shub-Niggurath! Great Black Goat of the Woods With A Thousand Young!
