Been reading The Fourth Way book and what an amazing book. It's totally different than The power of Now, which I read first. To me The Power of Now seemed more spiritual, than The Fourth Way but The Fourth Way is broken down to the tiniest detail so one can applied the work in all aspects of life.
The Power of Now is easier to understand and might give one a sense of attaining awaking when one hasn't even begun. I'm almost half way thru The Fourth Way but wanted to post my feelings about it so far.

I like the way it's written also, the Q&A are very cool. Its kind of like you're in a classroom learning. The subject of our centres and how each one consists of two halves, and each half consists of three parts, makes alot of sense, but not at first it didn't lol.
It's keeping my interest, which is very good and I'm trying not to read too much at one sitting either. That way I can absorb it alot better that way, plus I review it after I read some of it. I can't wait to get deeper into it.

The Fourth Way describes a school must come from a higher source. The CoC is a religion, but it's also a school: a Fourth Way school. The CoC does come from a higher source, both from The Fourth Way and from the A:O., so it is a legitimate school for changing ones life for the better.
I think the problem arises with Satanism and all the negatively surrounding it, both inside of the religion and outside of the religion. The Fourth Way states we get rid of all negativity, but Satanism does have alot of negativity and often one can get rid of it in ritual. Don't turn the other cheek but smash your enemy, is one of the many faces of negativity in Satanism.
I for one can see how one might get confused if he starts with Satanism and then the CoC , and then the Fourth Way. I understand that the CoC deals with all things possible and use what we find useful, but it occurred to me that someone thats new to Satanism and/or new to the Fourth Way might be put off by such opposites. Any thoughts on this?

Any thoughts on this? Awake! Ia Ia Cthulhu fhtagn I was thinking along the same lines about negativity, one way that I got around this is, I take all Satanic works with a grain of salt. The way I view such tomes as smash your enemy, do not turn the other cheek is as metaphors. My enemy could be all those negative emotions, so by self observing and not letting these negative emotions come to surface, I am smashing my enemy so to speak, not turning the other cheek but dealing with false self head on. In so called reality if I have a confrontation or predicament with an enemy, why not self remember and stay in the present, would not this be smashing my enemy by removing negativity from me, instead of taking some kind of physical action? Another thought that crossed my mind is scale, everything is done according to scale, if I am reading the fourth way book right, maybe another option to view. All in all whether one was a true LaVeyan Satanist or just another joe, the fourth way tells us we are all machines living in a mechanical world, we are all asleep, food for the universe, until we have the moment that puts us on own way to now! Indeed a very interesting thought, I too would like to hear from other cultist on this. The God you worship is your future self! Remember yourself, for the Emerald Kingdom is at hand! The Fourth Way states we get rid of all negativity, but Satanism does have alot of negativity and often one can get rid of it in ritual. Don't turn the other cheek but smash your enemy, is one of the many faces of negativity in Satanism. This reminds me of an excerpt from Liber A:O... When others are upset, taking their negativity out on you, even though they are actually upset at themselves or their circumstances, remain calm and composed. It is silly to become mad at a machine because machines are not conscious. They have no real control over what they do or how they think and feel. In christianity, they recommend forgiveness. However, that is not quite right. It is acceptance that's required. One does not condone the wrong action of machines nor does one enjoy its fruits. It is simply a fact of life. Understand that things could not be any other way.If it is the nature of the childish to be abrasive, being angry at them is like being angry at fire for burning.Way of the Bodhisattva 6.39Anger is a wasted emotion that would be far better spent doing something constructive. Most often, "revenge" isn't even worth the effort or cost. If you're going way out of your way to get back at someone who barely slighted you, an examination of your priorities is in order. Now, if someone is genuinely an obstacle and allowing them to persist would interfere with your goals, then disposing of them neatly and efficiently is the only viable option. This is where cursing really comes in handy. The ability to curse an opponent is not an excuse to get pissed off at the tiniest affront; it is a serious resort to be employed in serious circumstances. Too many Satanists seem to think cursing means that Satanists have to be mean. In reality, cursing is most effective when that energy is saved for necessity. Don't get mad; get even, and get on with your life. I for one can see how one might get confused if he starts with Satanism and then the CoC, and then the Fourth Way. I understand that the CoC deals with all things possible and use what we find useful, but it occurred to me that someone thats new to Satanism and/or new to the Fourth Way might be put off by such opposites. Any thoughts on this? You are absolutely right! There was a guy on the Modern Church of Satan who reacted quite negatively when Lord Satanis posted some links to material on the Fourth Way. He accused it of being "rhp." I tried to point out, "Why knock it if it works?", but he'd hear none of that. I suppose we should stop lighting candles in our ceremonies; I hear the rhp uses them as well. The Cult of Cthulhu shall never die

I find it interesting that the CoC doesn't get any respect from other Fourth Way schools and sounds from your post that Satanism might be the same in viewing the CoC. Which at first I felt that it's very much a shame that people would be so close minded and not give CoC the chance and/or respect it deserves, but I view that as a positive for us and the CoC. People who don't see eye to eye with either Satanism or any Fourth Way schools will find a home here, plus the ones we get from being associated with either one of them. It's a win win situation for the CoC! Awake! Ia Ia Cthulhu fhtagn

You are taking the ordinary definition of imagination instead of The Work definition. Within this system, imagination refers to what we falsely believe ourselves to be or have. For instance, we think that we can do things, whatever we want, in fact. We feel that we are always compassionate towards our friends, acquaintances, and fellow Cultists. These are illusions because we only imagine those things to be true when in actuality they are not.
Self remembering comes out of self observation, at least from my perspective. What you were doing before coming to The Work was probably similar to self remembering, but it wasn't as complete. Yes, implementing The Great Work means that you are becoming more conscious, more Awake.

Master Satanis, thanks for the answers. What I was experiencing wasn't a total self remembering. You are correct about self remembering coming out of self observation, what I was experiencing was being present, which I was alittle confused cause if I was being present then I must have been self remembering, which wasn't totally correct. I thought by reading the Power of Now first cause it was easier to understand I would advance alittle better, but I should have started with the Fourth Way for sure. Its so much more in depth and easy to understand in its complexity. Awake! Ia Ia Cthulhu fhtagn

Anger sucks. Cant wait to get to that part in The Fourth Way. Its like a split personality for me. Even if I recognize it, it still has its business with me. A preacher once told me I'm possessed. There are a lot of ways to handle anger; & strangely it can be considered charitable to reciprocate anger.
