Mabye im just stupid, but can someone tell me the differences between a ritual and a spell?

Depends on your source. Going strictly by the Satanic Bible, what Wiccans would call a spell, LaVey calls a ritual; an magickal working to attain a goal. Going by anthropological terms, a ritual is a consecrated act, be it to attain or to sustain. A ritual is the physical, emotional, and mental action; the "spell" would be the effect. Again, these are going by the definitions of two different schools of thought, and I'm sure there are more.

I would say a ritual is just more complex. A ritual is a kind of spell, but a spell is not always a ritual. You're right though, not a great difference.

There seems to be many definitions of the differences of each, but here's mine. Spells and rituals are both magical workings created to cause an effect. Spells are done spiritually, through the mind and the soul, while rituals are done physically, such as using a sigil or making specific arm movements.
