i created this poll, because it's hard to understand who we are in a void. people need reference points, time restraints, goals, a record of what came before.
is it the end of the world or the end of reality as we know it? does it even matter?
the end times may be near... but even if they aren't, we need to get our collective asses in gear. assuming we have a limited amount of time to work (and unless you're planning on living forever, we do indeed have a limited time), how do we get motivated? how do we gauge our progress? how should we determine if we are prepared to exit this flesh-time?
if only a transformed consciousness can survive the death of our body, then how far along are we? work now for a better future!

I voted "extremely prepared", though I am kinda planning on living forever. I'm of two minds on the whole subject.
If life extension technology happens, I'm gonna jump on it, likewise if/when nano tech allows designer bodies. I look at death as an adventure that's probably unavoidable, so no reason to rush it.
I think my mystical practices have prepared me for the leap, I'm not worried about it. (I do remember past/alternate lives and deaths, from my point of view, this won't be my first time to die.)

I anticipate that 2012 will be not unlike the Y2K thing(ie. nothing). after 2012 people will need something else to have conspiracy theories about, i hope they use the terminator plot line.
As for my preparations for death... i do not feel it is my time. and in assumption that i have a purpose, created by myself or otherwise, i do not feel that i will fall until it is done or rather achieved. as for what i expect after death, well either some type of reconnection to the earth/ universe, in which there is no consciousness or awareness of any sort. So in less mystical terms, it will probably be what atheists assume. Or by the time i die, i will have consciousness and will bound in enough astral strength that i transcend the limits of reality imposed by the prison like machine that is this body.

i agree with that. on one hand, there is so much work to do, but on the other hand i put 1,000% effort into Awakening. and really, what more is there?

a few months ago there was a voice that sounded like mine but with more bass and reverb that said, "I don't want you to freak out, Talmadge; but you're dying."
i woke up and freaked out. *sigh* ... long and tedious process, long and tedious process...

Every day we are one step closer to death. If you consider, scientifically speaking - our cells die every day, regenerate and we are no longer our former selves.
I love this kid.

well if i have to believe all the people who shoud at me that i go to hell atleast it is surviving and try to get a way out of that. i always liked to look for a rule in the books that alouws me to cheat this could be seen lazy but i think i found one in christan things problem i dont believe in them but the rule i found is "he who believ in god have enternal live'' now only hoping this is right because never was said which god but the thing is atleast i try whit all i can to get as much awaik as possible and hope to get to the so called void and hopes that there is no dead there. and if nothing happens at all then atleast i wont regonise it because i am dead. so hopes that all this things will work right.

I vote prepare for what... huh? There seems to be a few questions here... I'll try to answer 'em... First am I ready to die, No. The ego still claws tooth and nail in order to hold onto "reality." In short: I still got shit to do!!! Do I accept that I will die, Yes. I'm curious because I've had many egoless experiences achieved many different ways... I figure ego death is what the mind goes through in physical death. Some of my ego-loss / ego death experiences have been calm and serene just like falling asleep for an afternoon nap in the sun... other times it's like a wild animal full-bore fight and flight (see my first answer). Is it the end of the world or our reality and does it matter??? Yes and No. The Xtians says it's the End Times and the Hindus call it the Kali Yuga (Age of Kali) which is also the End Times I think that this is a very subjective question... But I will say that I am of the Apocalyptic Nature... So I have to answer Yes, but will it end on 2012 or what ever other date... probably not. Will there be a consciousness shift/evolution/awakening or what have you??? Let's fucking hope so, cause we are still a stones throw away from shit-slinging apes... except now we use bullets. How do you get motivated? Make it one of the most important things in you life... Being an Apocalyptic helps here... If the World will end (in one way or another) in you life time... Hell you've got less than you lifespan to get shit done. How do we gauge progress? I Believe that there is No Progress, The Red Queen Effect basically says so. I Believe that progress (waking up) is like Re-Realization... We never forgot, We just put the blinders on ourselves. But it appears that their is progress, but I think progress is the wrong word to use... you need to achieve you original peak of homeostasis before you can make progress, I think, ? Maybe... How do you know when you are ready to leave the flesh??? Fuck if I know... Maybe you just know when it comes... Let's see... I agree with Shaz that 2012 will be like Y2K. But I'll prepare like I did for Y2K... Water... Check Food... Check Shotgun Shells... Check Shotgun... Check T-Ball Bat... Check

Well speaking as someone who had a near death experience, I've already experienced death. The worst part was the close autopsy (in the vision, not in RL). I'm ready for it, it's not all that different than RL, except things are easier for the enlightened to do things.

Personally I find the whole 2012 thing to be highly amusing. I can't wait for the "fateful" day to come and go so I can sit back and giggle. I look at it this way... If the world is going to end, that's just it. It's going to end. What is the use in worrying about the end of the world? I could walk outside my door today and get hit by a speeding car. What counts is what I do with the time I have, and making sure that I live every day to the fullest. While I have some leanings toward reincarnation, I can never really know what, if anything, is waiting on the other side of death. So, I have to use the time I have available now.

2012...
I'm thinking destruction ritual on the day. They want it? Let's give it to them. May the Old Ones come busting from their chests and eat their faces off.

Well, not to mention - I think they are going to make leaps in technological advancements over the next decade. Transhumanism! Though, I'd only be interested if they can somehow figure out how to regenerate skin cells, and maintain the youthful appearance of the epidermis.
If not, I don't see the point. That's like rebuilding the engine in a shit box. It's still a shit box.
