Is there a certain age a member must be to join?

If you're asking...You might be too young?
Have you contacted VS about this?

it somewhat depends on maturity. we don't turn anyone away, but warn people that sleeping minds change... especially inexperienced ones.
i like the line from Eyes Wide Shut, "When a promise has been made here, there is no turning back." meaning that those of us who take the Cult of Cthulhu seriously expect the same in return. our religion may be a flexible one in terms of belief, but that does not mean we take our religion lightly.
as i was making sure i had the quote exactly right, i stumbled upon this illuminating essay. it goes into the symbolic details of Eyes Wide Shut. kentroversypapers.blogspot.com/2006/03/eyes-wide-shut-occult-symbolism.html VS

Im wanting to get active in the Cult, but I just wanted to make sure being 16 wouldn't effect my eligibility.

there's only so much an active 16 year old can do. but don't let any number stop you from realizing your potential.

VS,
I plan on covering the occult symbolism in Eyes Wide Shut during our next grotto meeting. I've kicked this around in the past, but never really did a close-examination with a group. Good info, and I'll let you know how it pans out.

It's good to see that the Cult doesn't limit it's potential for members based on age. I got into the occult at the young age of 15 and can understand how difficult it can be to find a place where others would seriously welcome a teenager.

Im sixteen, and im finding it hard to do anything in the cult... all i can do is spread the word and help my "friends" understand what i have come to understand.. once i am a full member and able to form a grotto i am going to (this will be soon).. this brings up another question though, how old do you have to be to form a grotto? i would like to be able to guide my friends along the path that i have taken, they've showed enterest and i cannot do much if i am not even a full member, but like i said. i will be soon..

16 is old enough to join and form a Grotto; however, the most productive thing you can do at this juncture is to work on yourself. Becoming more conscious will increase the Cult's awareness... others will be attracted/magnetized to you. Help us by helping yourself first. Isn't that the law of the jungle?

It is, but i feel the need to help other to understand what i have been trying so hard to understand for much longer than i thought.. If it is possible for me to teach, then it should be possible for me to learn as well... i believe that by me helping others to understand, i will come to better know myself and know all that surrounds me while learning from everyone that i am teaching. through sharing ideas and thoughts about everything, i think that it would not be unproductive if i were to gain knowledge as i am giving it away.. there is a certain pressure to teach these friends of mine all that i know, they are thirsty for it, and every time we can, we talk about thoughts and ideas, and i try to explain to them and help them to understand that we are not who we are, looking past skin, flesh, and bones is but one thing that is here for us to contemplate, they are thirsty for knowledge and i feel compelled to quench their thirst... all the while my thirst is growing stronger, who is to say that they cannot quench my thirst as i do to them? you told me to help the cult by helping myself first... but if it is possible to help others and all the while helping myself, then why not do so?.... i am not trying to tell you that you are wrong, but simply to tell what i believe...

I have no idea where your level of development is at, so I can't adequately judge if you're ready to teach what you've learned. You are only 16, so I must assume that your understanding is limited. Discussion is a good thing, but you may be tempted to definitively say that A is so or that B is not so, whereas that might not be the case.
As long as you're aware of your limitations, I don't see a problem with talking through ideas. However, it would be wise of you to steer your friends to the Cult forum where you could learn and teach simultaneously.
Also, paragraphs are your friend.

in my experience we are a speaker for the signal that we are attuned to. The knowledge of a human vessel comes from beyond the vessel. The age of these people is not as important as the age of the knowledge being presented, but the presentation itself is very important. I myself would say that before, years ago I had a shining magnetism and that I with my mouth could move many minds in any direction that I pleased. These young lings if they do have the gift should only care to show the cult in a positive and uplifting light and be careful not to mar it. Youth is powerful yet rough. I remember making mistakes as everyone does they must simply put more care forth to balance out the lack of 'time' present in the vessel.
Good luck
